  3. lol throw a flare. You will have to throw flares all along your traveling route? Wtf. Just think of daylight. The chances you get seen travelling over the land is about 1% per hour. Vs an NVG player at night it is reduced by further 50%. Where is the danger? At hotspots. Throw a flare in the town and job done. Omg start thinking.

    Removing the global chat. Too soon?

    Hmm... Can't imagine Rocket wouldn't have thought about this aspect. Global chat is definitley very impoortant for newer players; would make sense to keep it activated during the alpha stage. But i guess he wants to test the effect of his changes on player interaction and "no global chat" is a vital part of this.
  6. I have seen in ACE videos (mod for arma2) that some weapons have an alternative vision mode. E.g. you can use the scope on a assault rifle but you have also a second vision mode for CQB. Any weapon in DayZ has this future? Thanks
  7. Yo, since beta patch 94103 I have a problem with the gear interface. When right clicking on badages, food or hatchet etc the context menu appears only for half a sec. If I click very quickly it works (managed to bandage myself). Any ideas? Common problem?

  9. I think the mainserver is recording quite a lot of ingame data. E.g. it knows the "total km travelled" etc. So there could be the possibility to analyse player behavior / serverswitching. Server loot hopping has certain characeristics which would make it distinguable from e.g. looking for a server with low ping. If player behavior indicates serverhopping with a probability of 99.8% character gets killed. But this idea has certain disadvantes as well...

  11. It is quite hard right now: - Zombies have a high chance of breaking your bones. - Noone spawns with morphine. - Morphine is only available in the three big cities. (more or less at least) Keep it like this! It creates an interesting dynamic. Normally I never go back south. But we have been out of medical supplies and my friend broke his leg. I had to go to one of the big cities, very risky for a player with good gear. Of course you have Berenzino which is relatively safe. But I like the idea that all players have to come back to the bigger towns to resupply on medical stuff. Tip: Stock up on medical supplies before you leave the coast.
  12. Hallo Caspar, [sorry for German language guys, just a bit lazy right now] Viewing distance Wir haben uns auf deinem server schon einmal darüber unterhalten. Ich denke ich hatte Recht, viewing distance ist eine server side option. Ich konnte das deutlich beobachten. Ich lag als sniper auf meiner position auf DE10, wechselte dann aber den server (no-zombie-bug). Meine Sichtweite erhöhte sich um etwa 300m! Auf beiden Servern war gutes Wetter, ich bin mir 90% sicher das es an einer server Einstellung liegt. Auf DE10 wurde eine Straße ab ~450 m sozusagen ausgeblendet, nur noch eine verwaschene Textur deutet an dass dort eine Straße weiterführt. Anderer Server: Konnte die Straße noch gute 150 m weiter bis zum Horizont beobachten. Auch ganze Häuser in größerer Entfernung sind auf DE10 nicht aufgetaucht. Wäre klasse wenn du da was machen könntest. Komme in jedem Fall trotzdem wieder, klasse server! :)

    Reset of cars

    I am using a car to store some stuff. Much better than a tent. I have read somewhere that a car gets reset if it isnt moved for 1 week. What is the exact requirement here? Is it sufficient if I move it for 10 cm? Regards
  14. With a high resolution it is impossible to read the degree numbers on the compass. As this is really important for teamplay we need a solution for this. (e.g.: "Enemy, 300m, 30 degrees"; "You see that barn on 240?") With a middle resolution it works just fine. Does anyone of you know a solution for this problem? I guess DayZ wont accept a third party modifcation to replace the compass...

    Compass - degree numbers to small

    thanks for your answers. I will play around with the interface resolution size, but I tried it once and I think this doesnt work. Rough indications are not enough sometimes. E.g. if you want to point out a specific building or landmark in some distance. "SWS" would point at a whole range of objects. It is possible to guess the degree approximatley, perhaps by having a sheet of paper with the numbers... but in a stress situation you will inevitably make mistakes. Yea hope rocket will implement a new model.
  16. Playing with a high resolution I cannot see the degree numbers on the compass. (Both map / normal view). Degree numbers on a compass are very important for communication. How to solve this? I would guess that external addons are not allowed in DayZ - correct? Any other possibility?
  17. You'll get better at it. No doubt your impression is right, it is difficult for a new player to find a weapon. But if you know the game (which buildings accessible, what kind of loot to find where) you have a weapon max 30 min after spawn. E.g. in barns you will find weapons with around 50% probability.
