Yes, i believe you. And I didn't want to blame anybody using it here, would have done it myself. But you can see in your opponents video how he plays it out. He is waiting in cover for 10 minutes, watching your position. It allows him to turn out of cover the second you change your position. All I wanna say: Go to 3th person off servers so we get more of them :)
-
Very nice story and congrats for not D/C on both sides. But hear you can see clearly why 3th person sucks :D The defendors advantage is multiplied times ... 1000 The whole story was dominated by using 3th person.

Yea it is a lot of fun :D We have a proper plan which we always try to refine, apply military tactics and discipline and the action is ,,, intense! While we have some big guns with us just in case, 90% of our engagements are within 200m range. Cause who is in a position to snipe can also be sniped himself :) And you are right, a K/D ratio means shit in this game. But I think its a appropriate indicator of a group's success in this context.

Hey guys, please give me some advice regarding these two weapons. I personally like the FN FAL. I think its iron sights are superior for mid to long range fights to the M14's CQB scope. M14's sights are better for CQB, no doubt. But beside the sights, beside the ammo rarity of the FN FAL, beside the FN Fal's burst ability... do you see any other positive or negative aspects of these weapons in comparision? Fire rate should be the same, Damage as well (8000). FN FAL feals really deadly, but thats not a proper argument :D Something regarding bullet drop / accuracy / loss of power over distance? Thanks

Zombies? What zombies? This is pure PvP.
GodOfGrain replied to AzinGaming's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
oh hmm OP is not right at all. They are a very important element in an overall PvP game. - You can see if someone is in a town if zombies have spawned - You see an aggro zombie? There will be another player. - You have to shoot a zombie? Other players are alerted within 1k range - If you are alone or in a very small group, the situation with zombies can indeed get out of control. (Knockout / bleeding / brake leg) - If you engage another player in a Zed-area you will have to deal with zombies shortly after Even advanced players can die to Zombies in a hectic firefight. -
Make ammo scarce. Make DayZ HARD.
GodOfGrain replied to andy_uk15@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hm... game would get less interesting for me. People will shoot each other nonetheless, but you remove a lot of tactical options with super rare ammo spawn. An effective team will burn through its ammo in a firefight in some cases. If you have to count every bullet the game would get less complex. -1 for gameplay reasons Just get rid of this ammo-replenishing bug and its fine. Of course reducing ammo spawn for specific weapon types is a good way to "balance" different weapons. E.g. before considering to get rid of the AS50, reduce its spawnrate and the spawnrate of its ammo... But ammo for common assault rifles should be plenty. -
A serious question for the PvP-phobes

Didn't happen to me once in a lot of hours of gameplay. There are cases where you die (from other players) without any mistake on your side. But this is really rare. -
Seasons & a possible solution to deathmatching
GodOfGrain replied to Azrail (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
We could just have four different versions of the chernarus map. Even two (the additional wintermap) to begin with. -
Seasons & a possible solution to deathmatching
GodOfGrain replied to Azrail (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Would give the developers a good range of opportunities to make the survival part harder. Perhaps (once proper player camps are implemented) the people will prepare for the winter time, hoarding food etc. Hard time for lonewolfs. Cooperation through mere necessity. Night time play in the winter would be interesting. With just a bit of moon light you'd be able to spot everything in the snowy landscape. * A player finds winter camo in the summer... will he be optimistic and keep it? :) Ah, and then you will tell your friends who want to join DayZ "Ah man, not a good time, we have winter right now. Can't spare any food" I guess one season = 3 to 4 weeks sounds fine. But all servers should be enforced to run the same season. That are the visions we need for the future DayZ development. -
what exactly is end game in dayz?
GodOfGrain replied to Justin619's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
for me it is a) to have intensive firefights with other people / groups. --> Raiding / camping hot spots in the North. b ) have some kind of objective. Normally I need just a small thing to keep me going. E.g. to organize some barbed wire... get equipment for someone else...try to find beartraps... get to a hosital for medical supplies. Indeed I would like to have more of these "little objectives" available. Btw, the comparison with Eve is wrong I guess. Don't know much about this game, but as far as I know it is pretty complex. In DayZ we can just: Travel-explore, shoot, communicate and loot. We cannot even "collect" properly as all your stuff is found within 2 days. At the current point of time DayZ is indeed lacking endgame content. (Nothing wrong with this term from my POV) If we only have weapons and bullets, what can we build up? -
ah, I will just do it one time :) Go back to Call of Duty

GodOfGrain replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks. So we can wait 10 minutes within 200 to 30 and then all of us have to leave 200 for a second? Or just the one person who has triggered the zombies in the beginning? -

GodOfGrain replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am not sure if I get it right. Ok, we approach the target building, get in 200m range (but not within 30m range) and wait 10 minutes to generate new loot. [Only old loot will be replaced] Then we completly clear the building. I have not much experience with this but what has worked for me so far: We waited for 10 minutes in the 200 m radius. [Does it matter if someone is waiting even in the 30m range?] Then we left the 200m radius and came back immediatly. New loot spawned. But is there any better way? Because it is quite negative if the whole team has to move out of their position. Is it enough if the person who triggered the loot is leaving the 200m? How would it work with the 2nd or 3th cycle? Thanks :) -
After playing lone wolf the first couple of weeks I looked for some company. I joined a guy's TS and we met in game after an hour. Was one of my most memorable experiences because of the risk involved in trusting an unknown person. Since then we've played together and have invited more people (from forum / RL) to join us. There is no incentive for us at all to communicate ingame anymore - although I liked that experience. Global side wouldn't help here. Beside the fact that there is too much "shooting & killing" than there would be in reality, this dynamic is not completly absurd. Probably people would remain relativlely social and trustfull in the beginning, but once they established a stable group they would regard everyone else as a possible threat. On the other hand the social aspect of meta-gaming is interesting as well. OK - if we play with people from RL the thing should be set. But we have a number of guys which joined us from a German DayZ forum. Personally ( I might be a bit paranoid in this regard ) consider every new entrance as a threat. Can't help myself here. For the first days I keep observing their behavior, ensure that the squad is not in a complete vulnerable position at any time, etc. Kind regards

[UPDATED] Weekly Stats, PvP Trends
GodOfGrain replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't forget the DC from PvP. At least 30% of (potential) murders are not in the stats due to DC. -
nice one :)

Yo. Perhaps we should think about two difficulty levels. The current difficulty level is more or less at its limits for new players to learn the game. On the other hand the "surviving part" and dealing with zombies is a piece of cake for every advanced player. Would it be a viable solution to have two different server types? One with plenty of ammo and weapon spawns, lots of food, less zombie damage... And the real DayZ where Rocket can be as sadistic as he pleases to be. What do you think? Do you see any other solution how to make the game harder for experienced players while have it accessible for new players?

I heard a dog companion is in the works to be implemented!

perhaps he can carry some items in a bag :) -
I would estimate a 5% chance in 24h on a 40/50pl server that your car is discovered IF it is a TOP hiding place. And I am talking of very good hiding places... --> Certain distance to good loot areas / towns / streets / water Area of no interest Not on a travelling route between these areas Probably in the upper two thirds of the map Place is not obviously good to hide a vehicle. Therefore we cannot use the area east or south of the map frontier within 1-2 km range. Car can be placed in a way that can be seen solely from certain angles / very limited distance. Good luck finding these places... there might be just 10 of them on the map. Every other hiding place which still meets most of these criteria has a 24-h chance of 10-20%... OP is absolutely right in my POV. Just not worth the effort to atm. Edit: OP is not right in his behavior of course... please change thread title.
