I personally believe that the positives of a respawn timer vastly outweigh the negatives. Pros Adds to immersion Adds weight to ones life Helps deter coast suiciding Limits time people have to get to their dead corpses to try and rearm their old kit. Cons You just died so now you have to get off your ass for 10 maybe 15 minutes until you can respawn. OH NO what can I find to do for 10 minutes? I don't care to be honest A little off topic but I play League of Legends from time to time still and that game has a huge following that isn't going anywhere. Not only can you be put into a timed time out if you queue dodge to avoid a ranked but if you do it again the timer increases to a longer amount of time. Sure some people get bummed that they have to wait 15-20 minutes but overall it helps the community stay within a couple of rules and guidelines. That is something I want dayz to implement in SA. Not really rules but we need more guidelines to what is acceptable to do in game and what is not. If Rocket and Co are fine with all the the meta gaming that revolves around life and death in game then leave it but I for one think a lot of it needs to be tweaked.

I was approaching the Zeleno super market and I was just inside the concrete wall near the store. Their were tons of zombies around so I was basically just laying there prone waiting for an opportunity to move forward. When I had approached the town the zeds had not spawned but by the sheer number of zeds creeping around I knew others had to be near by. Moments later I start hearing 2 different types of gun fire about 80 meters away in a field behind me. I'm thinking it is 2 guys fighting one another. A few moments later 2 survivors come running right through an opening in the fence about 10 meters away. I can hear them talking to one another in direct chat. One is screaming at the other that he is bleeding and low on blood, the other guy is telling him to keep moving to the store. I take a look around at 60-70 zeds between myself and them, decide to switch to SAW. I unload so many bullets into that crazy frenzy of zeds. I'm just watching them drop one by one. My adrenaline is pumping and I am scanning everywhere on my screen for the next target when I notice the two survivors just watching me through the window. I finally finish killing a few more hauling it into the back of the store. As I'm entering one guy is saying to the other "Hell no man we are not going to shoot him, that's our hero." I ended up talking with them for a minute and we exchanged some supplies. They told me they thought I was trying to kill them at first until they had entered into store and bandaged and realized the shower of bullets were meant for the real enemy. So since then I play as hero trying to save people when I can. Plus I look good in blue. -
Are Zombies attracted to where a gun is fired, or the user of that gun?

I believe it goes toward the player but if you are far enough away you can still relocate. Back when the Einfield was considered the "dinner bell" you fire a couple shots in the air on one side of town and then run through the woods to the other side and start the free looting. As long as all the zombies were spawned they would all move over to where the shots came from. -

I was actually held up and robbed the other day by a squad. I was actually excited and pretty much fine with it happening since my character had been alive for awhile (my #1 goal is always to do as much as I can in that life while remaining alive) and I had never experienced being robbed. Sadly though after they had taken my vehicle, gun, and pack I started to run away and then they sniped me. I was bummed it had to end that way but it was a much better gaming experience for all of us involved, then if they had just waited for me to stop and then snipe me from 800 meters away. There needs to be more bandits with assault rifles. Shoot outs are exciting and pulse pounding for both sides. Nothing is better than an unexpected 2v2 or 3v3 in the forest with ARs. -
Yeah I am going to have to agree that the very minimal chance you have of getting knocked out by zed should remain. To me it's almost like the bullets in game. I've been one shotted with a M1911 at full health and was TKO and broken leg. So basically my point being the zeds need something going their way and just pretend he slit your throat or some dumb shit when you get KOd. Also I have been driving vehicles in this game for awhile and it really is not that hard to keep it out of the zeds range. Maybe it's just me but I believe I have only been hit by one ever while driving and I didn't bleed or anything. I just pay attention and don't try to go on splatter sprees anymore.

Yeah I agree the more props, structures, islands, lakes, perhaps rivers, and like joe said "signs of former life" would add a ton to the mood and feeling if the game. I would like to see more wrecks, unique buildings, and perhaps props of abandoned survivor camps out ine the woods. Maybe with some small buildings with a fence around it with some fireplaces and those fuel barrels that you can light. Only useable with fuel from a Jerry can of course.

Are you talking about finding their actual clothes or clothes that are similar? Also to anyone that even somewhat likes the Walking Dead show check out the TWD graphic comic books. They are a great and quick read plus the storyline is so different from the show and yet there are so many similarities. For one difference I actually like Andreas character in the comic while I am not going to be too bummed if/when she gets offed in the show.

Yeah I always thought it might be kind of cool, and let me know if you disagree, but if when you were first loading into a server and you can see everyone's name on the left before you click the "ok" button. If some of the players names were different colors due to time survived. Maybe every ten days survived and your name changes to the next color. That could be the only time during the game that you could see something like this. It would let people know if the server has long surviving players or a bunch of players who have only been alive for a couple days or even just hours. I think it would also add to the sadness for losing your character once they have reached a new tier. I just think it could help give recognition to those who do stay alive for long periods of time and play often.

Yeah I don't know how many doors should be locked but I do believe it would add to the tension of the game if more of the enterable buildings had their doors shut by default. I usually don't want to shut doors behind me while looting because it gives away the fact that someone is probably in the building. Also if zombies spawn in a building with shut doors I would like if they just stumbled around inside until someone actually goes into the building. The zeds could still become aware of your presence outside the building and be going ape shit crazy inside trying to get out.

I have to say I like the idea of maybe not having the full 24 hour cycle but I think 4 hour cycle is way too short. The only thing I can think of that could maybe work would be 12 hour cycles. 7 hours of day and 5 hours of night? Or 5 and 5 with two 1 hour transitions. I am not sure though. I personally enjoy both the day and night so the 24 hour works fine with me. Plus i understand if you are the kind of player who wants to play in just one or the other. It is up to them. One last thing I play on a private hive where the have the full moon rate increased and night time rain decreased. It makes the night gaming very enjoyable and you don't even have to mess with your gamma/brightness or feel so threatened if you don't have nvgs. -

I really enjoyed the story. Great work. I too play the mod in a similar fashion. Meeting other survivors is where the true beauty is in this game. I don't play the game for the loot. Sure I need a backpack, some med supplies, and a weapon. But after that anything is just an upgrade. When I play with others that I do not know I am usually fine with them taking any and all loot that they want and I will take what is left. It's amazing what you get in return...heli rides, vehicles, weapons, and perhaps even one more person who has better feeling towards others. I have actually had people recognize my voice in direct from players I had played with who were currently with their squad. It has gotten me out of a couple tricky situations. -
'Chernarus Plus' should have overhauled geographical features.

I do agree with what you are saying in terms of changing adding more geographical variety including a flowing river. But what I would like to really see would be more variety in building esthetics and also more random areas of interest out in the wilderness. Maybe camps that are not player camps but more a prop setup that could be used as a camp. Also I would love for there to be a crashed plane underwater in one of the bigger lakes. Not sure you will be able to really swim in the stand alone though. -
I think they should add in a Zombie Hunter skin. Nothing too special but a unique look and maybe a small melee damage resistance? Maybe I don't know. Either way you could set it at maybe 1000 zed kills. If you pass that number on your current life then your skin switches. I also agree that the zeds should be some scary mother fuckers.

Lol why would it take 40 minutes? I really like this idea. It's simple but would add more to make fresh spawning feel more real. It could take somewhere between 5-15 seconds.

I like this idea. I too would like if sometimes zeds were actually trapped somewhere. Never thought about the vehicle aspect though.

What Kind of Player Are YOU?

When I play lone wolf I play as a friendly and usually stay more up in the northern and western parts of the map. I will only fire at someone if they are a direct threat. I'll even heal a bandit but with a lot of caution. When I play with my squad I usually go as the driver or I am the spotter/assault medic for the group. I'm definitely more inclined when with the group because we generally have vehicles and high end gear. -
Hey all you DayZ lovers. Hope everyone has been enjoying the game recently. Anyways I am posting on here to see if someone or a couple of people want start a medic group. I have been playing as a friendly for the most part when I lone wolf but the squad I run with is definitely a hostile one. Nothing wrong with that but I want to go full medic and will probably need some help while I try to give some help. If you are interested let me know. I live in the US so I usually stick to those servers and I generally play at night. I am 28 so I would prefer someone around my age but I am not going to discriminate. I play a lot on BMRF which is a white listed private hive. I would be fine playing there or pretty much another server that you might enjoy. Let me know and thanks.

Ok thanks for the quick responses. Alec I will be in touch and Soul Shaper I will check it out. I guess the only drawback is I currently run with a big squad but I want to get back to that feeling of just a 2-3 man squad of friendly medics. I will still check it out. -

I kind of wish the map and cities were bigger as well. It would be kind of fun where one night of gaming only got me about half way up the map. Instead with a Kamenka spawn I can be back up at the NWAF in about 45 minutes with some gear. I also prefer the bicycle over most transpo due to its easy maintenance and its so easy to hide. Now if only someone could ride on the pegs or maybe allow me to bunny hop. Something I would like to see in the woods/forest area would be small trails for you to follow. Maybe the just end due to lack of maintenance or something but I would love hauling balls through the woods on my brand new mountain bike -

I always agreed that there should be a small percent chance to find any type of loot in any kind of loot spawn. We have no idea where people died in their last attempt to stop the outbreak. That is why the church loot made sense to me. The church would definitely be some people's first stop after the apocalypse has started. They should add dead npc bodies on the ground which might have a chance to spawn a watch or pistol or somethjng. -

So far I have enjoyed the new zombies in ways and disliked them in others. I am loving the fact that there are zombies out in the fields and woods now. That alone made me super excited and really really ups the realism. I also like that they make their way towards you slowly over time even when they are not aggroed. Also the patching does seem much better. Some changes like to see tweaked would be spawn radius. It seems to be around 150 meters (down from 300?) which kind gives you a pinpoint of where someone is if you are overlooking a town. Also if you travel through a town instead of popping the majority of the zombies you can of leave a trail of your currently path. Also some zeds seems to really have trouble noticing you now. In broad daylight I was walking back and forth in front of a zed about 10 meters away and he was looking/walking right towards me and I could not get him to aggro onto me until I got within melee distance. Overall I think we are getting closer to having pretty solid zeds but they do need some more work still. -
First off thanks for an overall great update. I am hoping it all runs smoothly and maybe some better fps whenever a chopper is above the city you are in. So thanks Razor and team. Now onto the food items. I personally am very happy to have different textures for the food. They look great and helps with loot. But I do agree with some who are not completely in board with the names. Why not have it so that in the inventory screen a can of fraggleOs will only have the name "can of pasta." Or a can of mzly jzly will be just "can of soda". We need the variety just not the names and inventory headaches. One last thing and I don't mean to sound like a dick but reading through page after page of banter with forum admins is starting to really drive me crazy. Come on admins Stop picking your fights with these guys and try to help push these threads in the right direction. Keep it more professional. TL,DR: would everyone start discussing some other material from the patch. At this point I don't want to think about food IRL.
