Private hive servers can "do what thou wilt".

If you pay for the server you can do what you want. I played on a locked server for a while and you WILL get tired of looting. As soon as you learn the little tricks to avoid them or that they only walk indoors, the challenge falls off greatly. There are non-PvP servers that will ban for KoS or that have very restricted ares where PvP is allowed. What you need to do is buy Arma II and look around before renting your own. If money is not really a factor then locking your own server is prolly the best road for you.

I disagree. DayZ, thru private hives, is whatever the one paying for it says. When zombies are easier than hell to deal with after a while the ONLY real threat are the bandits. Step 1) Scavenge Step 2) Slay zombies--BANDITS Step 3) Survive I completely understand the group of players, and there are a few, that get bored with 3 out of the 4 steps of DayZ. The only thing left, when you can find a fairly run server, is to turn on each other. This post is gold. (there should be a 'beans for a year' option that can only be used once every three months for posts ^^ this fucking good) Everyone who doesn't like excessive banditry should be praising these servers and promoting them as they keep some of the ones, who would prolly leave for boredom after a short while, around to still like the game and recommend it to others AND keep more of them away from bambi servers. You all need to CLOSELY examine this. Is it bandit butt hurt that tries to dictate how others enjoy the game? Be smart about this 'problem' for once and use this to 'control' the style of play many of you don't like. Don't let butt hurt get in the way of a sound thought process. Get word of good DM servers and promote the hell out of them, I say. If I've insulted anyone please accept my apologies. It was not intended and I'm too tired to be politically correct atm.

Two words . . . . PRIVATE Server. Just move on and find another server. You will NEVER be kicked/banned for killing or taking anything from us on our server. It is kinda low pop right now as we just switched to a Taviana map. It's a looters dream atm. I need to change my sig also cause the load out has changed but I guarantee you to start out with a decent secondary weapon.

If they abuse their server for too long they will be paying for an empty one. They will eventually choke on their loot, get bored and wonder away.

Yes because It was tremendously over powered. It allowed even Ghillie suits to glow like the sun, day or night. Only one without much skill would NEED one against someone without one. (no insult to OP intended) Want is different I know but the devs AND community decided that against players that don't have one, it's too OP. I agree. Also, a pro sniper doesn't need an AS50. We are working at removing the AS50 from our loot tables. Need to stop a vehicle? Be a good enough shot to shoot the driver while in it. Can't? Tough tities.
