Yeah, now they only hold you (and your vehicle) hostage for a period of time.... To the OP: Wow, a game in the alpha stage with bugs?! Who woulda thunk! You could just report the bugs in the hopes of having them fixed later... or you could whine and stomp your feet and run away. Your choice.

Uhh does anyone know how I can fix this?
SquishyBear replied to ɪɴᴛᴀғɪɪʀ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So if you get another wheel and do your scroll through options, there are no more "repair LF/ RF" etc. options? I'd make sure of that, sometimes you end up clicking too fast and you fix something that doesn't need fixing. If it's bugged however, one thing you can do is save it and wait for a server restart. Or you could blow it up and wait for a server restart. Maybe it will fix the issue. -
are you a bandit or a murderer? (poll)

Cold blooded murderer here. If I see you first, you're dead. -
Visual friendly/neutral/hostile player system for standalone
SquishyBear replied to kranky@dir.bg's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, we don't need that in my honest opinion. It would take away from the "you're in a real life zombie apocalypse" feeling. The skins are bad enough but certainly a better solution than the typical COD style good/ bad guy distinction. You don't see people painted in red cos they're criminals or blue cos they're doctors or what have you in real life, do you? If you're in a clan chances are high you use teamspeak and the like anyway and if you can't figure out who's the good guy and who's the bad guy and where every one of your buddies is located on TS or similar voice chat programs, well, you can't be helped. It's not rocket science. This seems just another way of crying about bandits killing everyone and everything in sight... so "we" need to make them stand out so "we" don't get killed by them (so easily). -
I guess better shit in this case means commenting on two people who are having a debate while trying to sound as though you don't care.

Is this what you call a bandit?
SquishyBear replied to Tonymaroni's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't know about the bike or what happens while you're driving it and break your legs but you can definitely get on an ATV and drive it around with broken legs. Been there, done that. -
Yeah man, all that paperwork in someone's drawer is really gonna stop them badass criminals from breaking the law and obtaining whatever object they wish. They will all turn into innocent, law abiding, useful members of society because there is a piece of paper attached to an object! Love when crime/murder statistics come up. How much bigger is the population in the US compared to Australia? (it's 14 times btw) You don't think that might make a difference, do you? How about social issues? Employment/ unemployment? Demographics? Policing? You have to be really simple to drink the "more guns = more crime/ murders" kool aid. Gee, I wonder why police and military need them if all they do is cause crime and murder... Are you aware of countries such as Switzerland? Might wanna look into their gun control habits or lack thereof.

Distinction between bandit and murderer?
SquishyBear replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well to me, judging from the headline and content of most of your op, it seemed as though you were asking/ wondering if there is a difference between someone murdering someone else for loot or fun. The skin idea/ distinction seemed like an after thought, not like the actual topic at hand. -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?
SquishyBear replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Lol, personally I couldn't care less about some skin. Dress me up as clown, Freddie Krueger, Eric Cartman, a prisoner, it does not matter. It will not affect the way I am playing and will be playing this game. -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?
SquishyBear replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The way I look at it is this: you kill for fun (that includes noobs), you're a murderer, you kill for loot, you're a murderer, you kill in self defense, you're a murderer. The only difference (to me) is that killing someone in self defense may be, MAY BE, justifiable since your life was/ is in danger and it's the "it's either him or me" situation. But even then certain conditions must be fulfilled for it to be justifiable self defense. Otherwise it's just murder or manslaughter as well. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a cold blooded murderer in game. I shoot everyone who is not a friendly. I also tend to shoot more noobs with no equipment inland than at the coast so I'm not sure why there is the constant bambi killer crying marathon... -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?
SquishyBear replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Typical assumption, good job! You made an ass out of yourself. Not sure why you would bring self defense into this since that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand which is: is there a difference between killing for loot and killing for fun. There is not. You wanna be a bandit, a true bandit, you don't kill unless provoked. Reading comprehension is difficult I know. You can't read and comprehend either. Self defense is entirely different to killing someone for loot or even fun. All three may end up killing the target but only one is truly justified. -
Distinction between bandit and murderer?

If you go and read the OP you will notice he is talking about people who kill to loot and people who kill to kill. Hence why I said there is no difference because the end result is the same. -
I wish vehicles were saved to character instead of server
SquishyBear replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure why you are so obsessed with hackers, the average player can take your precious items as well. It's really not rocket science. I'm not logged on 24 hours a day but kept an UAZ and a Pick-up for a good three weeks, I still have another Pick-up, I still have an ATV. Maybe you're just not good at hiding your precious. And no, you would not necessarily hear or see someone (talking average player here) trying to steal your vehicle. You might be dead long before they even get near the vehicle. -
It is with me, you can do whatever you want.
-
But it seems to be going beyond that...
-
Mine keeps going up. I had 54 at some point, then ten minutes later it was at 200 something, then after an hour it had hit the 1000 mark. Not sure if running around with a friendly affects it at all.

I would not discount the ability of angry, frightened and panicked civilians armed with pretty much anything to overrun a military base and get better equipment and go from there. Military and police likes to pretend they're the only ones who could handle themselves in disaster situations... sure there's training, first hand experience but there are plenty of civilians out there who take weapons training, survival training classes etc. They won't be functioning like a proper soldier but there'll be some close enough, so I wouldn't be so sure about that last sentence. We're not talking some major disaster in one part of the world either, we are imagining a worldwide (zombie) apocalypse. Most countries can't run themselves without major fighting when they have a form of government, imagine them all gone. At first there will be killing, nothing but killing. It will calm down eventually but there will be a lot of shooting on sight in the first stages of an apocalypse. It's hard to control people who feel they have nothing to lose. That's my opinion based on what I have seen from mankind and my fellow humans in my life so far.

Well, you're banned from that one specific server now.

Distinction between bandit and murderer?
SquishyBear replied to RooBurger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, you still murdered them. The end result is still their death. Your mindset at that time makes no difference, not in my opinion anyway. Some do it for fun, some kid themselves into thinking "It's for the loot", it doesn't change the end result. If you really were after their loot, you could just do it the oldschool way and make them drop their gear or break their bones and loot them, but you still want them dead. -
Supersonic bullets? OP: What you need is Stanag SD as opposed to Stanag. Go to International airport or NE Airfield, server hop until you find a server that has them spawned. May take a while but it's the quickest way of acquring a good 7 or 8 mags.

Time to share things about ammo :D
SquishyBear replied to Elite Skydaz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
 , have you considered that not all servers may have updated to the most recent patch yet? Pretty sure our home server isn't the fastest when it comes to that. I mean, it went a week without restarting. It's really not hard to find DMR ammo though, it's everywhere. -
Should I get Arma 2 for dayz or should I wait for the stand alone game

Some of you really need to look for better servers to play on. Not all are hacker infested. -

I wish vehicles were saved to character instead of server
SquishyBear replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's fine the way it is. It's somewhat realistic that way. Anyone with the knowledge can walk up to a vehicle, get it started and drive it away, key or not. It's like saying locking my car will prevent people from breaking into it, hahahahahaha. In a real apocalypse people will kill each other over vehicles and take them whenever and wherever they can find them. This is an apocalypse survival game, you gain some and lose some, that's life. It seems a lot of people don't understand the purpose of the game. Your goal is not to get the best equipment and vehicles and keep them for the rest of your life, it's about surviving as long as possible. As I've said before that includes losing, abandoning, giving up on something to save your life. We've had several vehicles on our home server for weeks now, UAZ and pick-up among them, only once has someone found one. It was pure coincidence that we noticed it too. We were driving in another vehicle at that point and noticed the UAZ that should have been parked up north. We got it back though, lost a pick-up in the process, found a dirt bike afterwards. Sick and tired of those who want it easy and not have anyone touch their precious whatever it is. PS: Could you imagine the crying by people like the OP if let's say 10-15 different people ended up on one server with their choppahs cos, you know, you wanna take the stuff across servers. Oh the horrors. -
Shot in the head by friendly who was aiming at a zombie... I got revenge though by hacking his head off with a hatchet later though. Then I've watched the hubby die by glitching through rocks and falling to his death, driving a tractor into a hay bail and exploding with it and just yesterday or the day before he climbed up the lighthouse... and stepped over the railing.
