  1. Actually that's something they are working on at the moment: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/34430567933/whatever-you-say-it-is-it-isnt They're switching to a pure client-server architecture. The only thing they didn't mention was whether or not they were switching to a faster NoSQL database.
  2. You guys seem to be getting targeted quite a bit lately, is there any indication that it could be a particular party, or are they just totally random?
  3. If this had been that other hosting company, it would have taken half a day for them to acknowledge an issue, let alone get around to working out a solution. There probably would have also been some belittling remark about a minority of users being affected too. Cut DayZ.st some slack. I have 100% confidence in you guys. Thanks for keeping us informed, and keep up the good work.
  4. Former SurvivalServers customer here, the difference is like night and day. DayZ.st is helpful and informative in very reasonable time frames, SurvivalServers is none of that.
  5. You can log in with your rcon password using the console while in-game, but it's always better to use a separate tool like Dart or Gotcha. Gotcha is amazingly good.
  6. I've had problems with my server from time to time, but they always responded fast and have helped to find out the best solutions possible. They also provide very detailed information about problems if asked, and never talk down to their customers. Having a DayZ server is probably always going to be a janky experience at best, but it gets infuriating without helpful and honest customer service. That's the key difference between the two companies. I'm personally not trying to sound self-entitled when I post about SurvivalServers. I had servers with both DayZ.st and SurvivalServers for a while, and found that DayZ.st simply did a much better job for less money ($10 a month less).
  7. Yeah that's the one. No worries, you've been dramatically faster than my experience with my former hosting company. I'd just like to see the server working 100% right one way or another. Like I said in the last e-mail, it's okay to reset the map spawns to the map default if necessary. Are the backups just straight sql files? It really does seem like some weird string replace script was run on them to mix up the vehicle classes since everything is in the right spot with the right inventory, just the wrong vehicles. If I was a malicious sort of coder looking to cause headaches, that would be an easy thing to pull with full access to sql files. Edit: Problem is fixed! Thank you for being awesome!
  8. E-mail sent, the map wasn't changed and we didn't attempt a backup restore until today. Just seems like the vehicles are all swapped around at the moment.
  9. There's something wrong with the DB restore that was done last night. The spawned vehicles are wrong, for example boats are on land. It also looks like some of the spawns are incorrect now, plane spawns I added are now buses. Could you have a look into it?
  10. I just want to reiterate that DayZ.st is awesome. They had a fairly security problem today. They owned up to their faults, informed their customers as soon as they could, fixed the problem, and then offered refunds to anyone who felt wronged by the problems. They do customer service correctly.
  11. I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you! You owned up to a serious problem on your end, informed your customers as fast as you possibly could with actual details of the problem, worked your ass off to fix the problem, and THEN you offered refunds to anyone who was upset by the issues. You did everything right, and after the constant pain in the ass I have had with that other hosting company, you have no idea how awesome that makes me feel as a customer.
  12. So in other words, people should never choose the immediate option because you refuse to refund? Why do you even offer that option then? At least let people get their money's worth.
  13. Fair enough. What about the question I had about hanging onto logs for 2-3 days? That shouldn't require a dramatic increase in storage capacity.
  14. I cancelled my service last week using the "Immediate" option. When can I expect to get reimbursed for the remaining number of days that I paid for? The last payment I made was for the 19th of October to the 19th of November. I haven't seen any money go to my paypal account yet.
  15. Even changing the default view of the map to vehicle spawn points would be okay. And what about storing logs for the past 2-3 days? The main problem I find is that I have to constantly monitor logs in order to find hackers, and end up missing them when I'm busy doing something else.
  16. A couple questions: Is it possible to have the map default to show vehicle spawn points when it starts up instead of spawned vehicles? That way admins won't know the positions of vehicles on the map unless they want or need to. Is there a way to get old server logs? I keep on hearing about hackers a day or so after the fact, and I don't have any way to check aside from the what's kept in Dart.
  17. I finally cancelled my service with SurvivalServers earlier this week. There were more problems with my server and I wasn't ready to wait a day for a ticket response again. I'm very happy with my DayZ.st server, works great, and I get responses and solutions to problems in a fraction of the time that it'd take SurvivalServers to just say something to the effect of "We're looking into this issue and will get back to you in 24 hours".
  18. This thread is turning into a pretty hilarious trainwreck. Just noticed that my server wasn't updated to 1.7.3, made a ticket, time to see how well that goes.
  19. Kind of wish you did this way back when you guys started getting "very busy" in early October. Also, keep them permanently, you need them.
  20. Crashing helicopters is kicking people again, is it because I switched maps? It's also happening with the civilian planes, which I think are supposed to work fine with Panthera.
  21. Hyperbole doesn't really help anyone. I suppose another update is in order. I have zero complaints with Dayz.st, and I'll be with them for a while yet. No noticeable downtime at all, and every tiny problem has been answered extremely fast. At a rough guess, if I added up the time I spent waiting for every single problem or question with DayZ.st, I'm fairly certain that total would be lower than wait times on the majority of individual Survival Servers tickets. If that doesn't speak for how happy I am with them, I don't know what will. Of course, now that most of the troubles are over, SurvivalServers hasn't been bad to deal with, they're just really really mediocre and overpriced now. I really hate the fact that I have to ask for updates, or pay anything for a "fully managed" server. I pay 10 bucks a month extra for services that I get completely free with DayZ.st, and the DayZ.st services are faster and more reliable. I'm going to be making use of the credits I have on my account with SurvivalServers for one last month, and then I'm switching over to DayZ.st completely. Any serious issues or significant downtime will make me cut my services with SurvivalServers immediately. If anyone's followed what I've been writing, this is my recommendation: If you want one of the cheaper hosting companies go with DayZ.st! Survival Servers has slow service, is occasionally frustrating to deal with, and is overpriced.
