  1. DayZ.st users have full DB access for their servers. You don't need to use PHPMyAdmin. I have a friend who's building a server statistics tool on an entirely different web server using our DB that can confirm that. Users can also upload custom .pbo files now, and they are working on general FTP access.
  2. It only keeps track of people who have played on the server while it was running. It would need access to the database to get a list of all players that have been on the server.
  3. I think all this nonsense about who's to blame is just silly. The bliss update was delayed, therefore the update on DayZ.st was delayed. It wasn't Ersan's fault, and it's better that the bliss guy took his time instead of releasing something broken. Do people honestly expect a code branch to be written just so they can get a map a couple days earlier? That aside, thanks Ersan for the consistently fantastic service! I wish you, and everyone else at DayZ.st, a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I really hope you get to enjoy some personal downtime, you guys deserve it!
  4. All very true, but I personally much prefer a few hours downtime every now and then to a week of downtime and SurvivalServers telling me that I am part of a minority of users and therefore shouldn't complain on the forums.
  5. DayZ.st Avoid SurvivalServers like the plague.
  6. I have a feature request: My server is running the server side stuff for Gotcha Anti-hack which dumps out a TON of information to the console, basically anything that can normally be logged. Would it be possible to add a filter to the console output so that admins could view specific things? Maybe even have a set of output windows spread across multiple tabs? For example, I like to keep an eye on the chat logs while a friend handles the main admin monitoring tasks with Gotcha, but with all that extra info it's pretty hard to follow. I usually have to copy it out to a text editor and sift through the chats there.
  7. They only really have two choices in the matter: It's either don't have the map at all and piss off a bunch of customers, or take the one that's supported by Bliss and piss off fewer customers. Also, the fact of the matter is that the DayZ Land guys COULD have just released the map to the community, but they didn't, they forced people to ask permission and then kept a "shitlist" of people and hosting companies they refused to give the map to. In this case, it isn't so much about Vilayer being the bad guys, and more Vilayer being the only guys releasing a version of Taviana that everyone can play on.
  8. Just host a site for your players and put a paypal donate button on it. You should be able to find out how to set up donations on Paypal's site.
  9. Yeah the two attempts I made were saved out immediately. I think the only problem is that the coordinates are off. I know that when relating DB coordinates to in-game coordinates, there's a different offset for each map. I originally figured that the coordinates I got out of the map tool would be correct, but it doesn't look that way. You can also try a PM to Ersan on the forums, he checks the forums at least a few times a day. If your e-mails are getting eaten, your PMs will get through.
  10. The service is bad and they're can get kind of belittling when problems pop up. They REALLY like to tell customers that their problems only account for a small portion of the customer base, like pretty much any time a major problem pops up and people start complaining. Switch to DayZ.st and you will be far better for it.
  11. I'm not super worried about IDs at the moment, but I can see how that would get annoying. I really just want to know what the coordinate offsets are for Panthera so I can place one set of structures correctly as a test.
  12. It's worth noting that when you hear about groups like Anonymous taking down large corporate sites in the news, it's most often done with a DDoS attack. Even large multinational corporations have trouble with them. For more info: https://en.wikipedia...service_attack.
  13. Gonna reiterate a question I posted before the big hacking hullabaloo: I'm trying to place buildings using the 3D editor and the tool here: http://dayz.wofjwof.com/map.php , but it looks like the coordinates are WAY off. I'm running Panthera, and the items I tried to place were in the ocean to the north of the north airfield, but they ended up in the desert to the south. Do I need to use an offset on the coordinates before running the sql statement? If so, what is it?
  14. You notified two weeks ago him that people were going to DDoS his servers? How would you know? They post notifications of attacks usually within minutes of them happening. You can also contact their customer support any time at: [email protected] I don't get why people are bitching about a lack of communication. They inform users as soon as they possibly can, and then provide specific details about the attacks and the steps they are taking to prevent them in the future. It isn't like Survival Servers where they screw something up and then take a day to tell you that they'll look into it.
  15. DDOSing isn't really a security issue that can be easily solved on a server with publicly available IP addresses. In fact, there's really not anything that can be done if the person or group doing the attack is determined enough. Ersan has already stated that the next major security measure to limit these attacks is far too expensive to use.

Do I need to use an offset on the coordinates before running the sql statement? If so, what is it? Edit: Looks like I can't access my control panel, are you guys getting attacked again?
  17. Is there any indication as to who is constantly trying to hack you guys? There seems to be a hack attempt every week. It can't just be random attacks.
  18. I really hope this thread helps to drive home the point to prospective customers that SurvivalServers is not the company to go with. Go with DayZ.st if you want comparable prices and much better service.
  19. Check out: http://www.gotcha-antihack.com/ It'll automatically catch the super obvious hack attempts, and will let you store logs on your computer to catch the rest. I'm pretty sure BEC and Anti-hax are on their way too, but there's no silver bullet in stopping hackers. There's only two solid ways to stop them: Be an active admin, or password protect your server.
  20. Dayz.St is awesome to deal with. I can't stress enough that you should NOT go with Survival Servers.
  21. Nice to see so many people switching. DayZ.st has been completely awesome the whole time I've been with them.
  22. Actually they do, they only ever advertised it when their service initially started getting poor. They reply on it even less than they do here though. http://www.survivalservers.com/forum/index.php I'm definitely not a customer any more (switched to a company that I have no complaints with), but this sure is an interesting thread to read :P!
