    Trading with other players

    I'm definitely keen on promoting trade between players, although not on anything that restricts the actions of players (friendly or otherwise). Mostly a good idea - I mucked around with a less involved idea (such as having a hand signal animation for trade (eg 'time out'). I think it needs to be emergent but tools like this could help.

    Character development and passive skills

    I'm with the OP one passive skills as long as they are subtle, implicit and limited in scope, but has been discussed/suggested a lot. As for 'maxing out' I think endurance etc should depend on nutritional status and physical activity. For example, while you are well fed your endurance improves (as you have sufficient nutrients to adapt your skeletal muscle and cardiovascular system) but should start reducing if you are not getting enough protein and/or calories (as you break down muscle protein via gluconeogenesis to provide glucose).

    Bicycle helmet - some 'shock' resistance but breaks easily. Less visual field limitation (and no hearing disturbance) than a motor cycle helmet. Fingerless gloves.

    What do we really want as far as Character Progression?

    For me: 1) Body morphology (shape/build) that changes with nutritional status and physical activity. Growing beards and hair (that can be roughly cropped with a knife). 2) Some subtle under-the-hood improvements in speed or success rate of some activities with practice. Initially steep then diminishing returns (as with skill learning in reality).

    First can you post some images of Molle and some of the variations you suggested? Always nice to see and you'll probably farm more beans. Second this works nicely with my thread on increased inventory squares and segregating vest pockets - someone suggested Molle there too. Third, absolutely agree with the need to make item retrieval from the back pack slower than from a vest or holster. My suggestion in that thread was to have a backpack removal animation (to even view your pack contents let alone access the items within). The length of the animation would add the appropriate delay.

    I don't play DayZ as a death match (although not against killing another player if necessary) so I don't see it as a matter of me versus them or racking up a kill count. The problem is it's just not plausible to be able to find your own dead body and loot it, and it undermines the importance of permadeath.

    Defibrillators and their uselessness

    To be fair to the OP, they said "when the heart stops pumping" which is correct - the reason ventricular fibrillation (VF) kills people is that it stops the ventricles acting in a coordinated fashion that allows it to pump blood. Defibs can be (and usually are) used for patients in VF.

    To have any credibility thermoregulation and consequences for not keeping your temperature within the narrow range compatible with life HAS to be implemented. As suggested above the wet clothes thing and the fact that the mod had a rudimentary temperature system suggests that this is in the pipes. @explorer-in-chief - I think the stuff about Frostfall and gameplay is a balance issue. For me I think ramping up the PvE in the restricted (physiology versus the physics of the environment) sense is important to make DayZ have chops as a survival game.

    Blood on your clothes if you kill someone?

    I really like this idea. As long as it is a melee close-quarters thing that would work. Could also have it that the blood can stain your clothes unless you get into the ocean or pond quickly - would give you the trade off of keeping your nice camo shirt with blood on it or changing into the checkered shirt you just found because it makes you look less like a murderer. The only down side to this that springs to mind is how do you tell if the blood on someones clothes is from another player or from them?

    I suspect that you didn't get my post - how can you put your kit on the ground if you're dead. I acknowledged in the post that it doesn't solve gear hoarding by groups.

    Yeah that's kinda what I had in mind. Would also be great to use the crafting system too modify vests etc to add sheaths, holsters etc.

    An alternative would be to set an exclusion radius around your dead body - say 500m - so that if you (in your new incarnation) come within that radius then your old body despawns. Sure it doesn't get around the whole groups holding your gear for you thing but it would stop the whole looting yourself thing which is a problem in my view.
  24. Hi guys - I have been thinking about the possibility of limiting players to a single character per server - largely to prevent loot-farming and ghosting, but also for later development with the advent of camps and bases. What do you think?

    DayZ.... the game?

    Hey - firstly could you reformat your post - sentences and paragraphs are always appreciated. Second, at present I think the survival elements are far to weak at present but I appreciate that it's early days. Granted the scary vibe is important - hopefully that gets sorted as tje zombies get worked on. PvP is by far the dominant threat at present - in my opinion that needs to be equalled by the threat from zeds and the environment.
