So seeing as their implementing a weight system, it makes sense that how waterlogged an item is would contribute to it's weight. Also different materials should stay wet for different amounts of time. This would hopefully influence item choice and tactics. For example I might choose a SPOSN pack over a Hunting pack (despite the slightly reduced carry capacity) if I know that the SPOSN won't get as heavy as it is more water resistant. Similarly, a soaked full ghillie suit should be a total bitch to run around in, as well as taking ages to dry.

More weapon break downs (Like Trumpet)

Just to throw in a blast to the past - look down around the bottom of the first page in this thread... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/164736-inventory-space-same-capacity-but-4x-number-of-squares/ <cough cough shameless self-promotion cough> -
Axe-head on a fire arm? No. A flanged mace-head however...
-
Simple suggestion - you should be able to combine matches from two match boxes.
-
Yeh - should be able to combine pens into a Bic 8 pack...

Seeing as Chernarus is coastal, might be a nice map feature to add some disused WWII bunkers/gun emplacements (minus the artillery) on a few elevated spots along the coast line, maybe with the odd tunnel/limited underground structure.

Haha I was thinking North Head in Devonport, Auckland.

Just read... Awesome :) Makes my other post somewhat redundant!

The whole idea of Kuru is a bit off IMHO. First it was confined to the Fore people of PNG, and is now a historical disease. Second it has a lag time of years. To me it's a bad call. If you are going to add a potential down side to cannibalism (besides it's obvious ethical issues) there are plenty of other human diseases that could work better (e.g. viral hepatitis - off the top of my head).

Thought it would be a nice effect (and informative) if you had steam coming off of you as you dried off (eg next to a fire, or while running around).
-
I think I should have limited the suggestion to running around and steaming...
-
Not so - I've noticed this a few times after running or other semi-strenuous exercise when the air is cold (but doesn't need to be ridiculously cold) and dry - it's just evaporative cooling in action. So I imagine in the autumnal setting of DayZ with all the running around you are doing it's not too much of a stretch...

Should be able to use wood burners/stoves inside houses (instead of a fireplace kit). - This should warm the whole house (so the player warms up/drys off when in the house). - Smoke should come out of the chimney - Still need matches, kindling and logs

I'm sad cos I eat and I eat cos I'm sad :(

I think it would be amazing if they added gusts of wind into the game. - Could be weather dependent - e.g. leading up to and during a storm. - Trees and grass move in the same direction for a short period of time. - trees and grass would need to be 'flexible' - a la Spintires. - could have region specific debris blowing around - e.g. newspapers in towns, leaves in the forest. - main inspiration is from Betrayer. I appreciate this is probably technically difficult but would add a lot of ambience and make the world feel a lot less static.

I'm all for a stamina/limited sprint system which also involves increased need for calories and water.

Please keep sniping weapons to the barest minimum. -
Clothing Pockets (Separate the inventory slots!)
Roshi (DayZ) replied to jaggardos's topic in Suggestions
Got to say - that's some impressive work. -
Instead of a generic "Hands" box in the inventory, have neighbouring boxes for left and right hands. - Double handed items (e.g. rifles, axes) go across both. Allows the possibility of: - Pistol and flashlight (when don't have underslung flashlight). - Pistol and knife - Two pistols (obvious penalties for recoil and aiming) - pistol and handcuffs (so you can cuff someone at gunpoint) (if dual wielding weapons or weapon + item then RMB doesn't aim - activates second item) - map and compass (PS be great for immersion if maps were held in hand rather than a separate screen a la current setup). - map and flashlight or lighter (for night play) - tin of beans and can opener. - put item in each hand to combine for crafting system - e.g. sticks and duct tape for splinting, attaching gas stove to gas bottle. As an aside, what about an open door animation - 'lock' character to door for duration of animation (as per using ladders). More cosmetic than anything but I get sick of being pushed to one side by opening doors.

Hopefully, from what the new Dev blog says about sorting out virtual hands in the inventory, the devs are looking into this.

Yeah I hope the crafting system will continue to diversify. A lot of the value of the crafting system will come down to balance of other kit - lower levels of ammo etc.

The Effects of Starvation, Cannibalism and injuries on the players body and using the natural enviroment to your advantage.
Roshi (DayZ) replied to Veteran Child's topic in Suggestions
Some good ideas but cannibalism for example had been suggested and discussed heavily in the past. As for the body condition stuff at the top of the post I agree in principle but disagree with your details. Malnutrition will make you more fatiguable, certainly more prone to disease, but will take a long time to reduce bone density (our bodies are particularly good at preserving calcium and phosphate). I argued for a more authentic nutrition system (see one of the ideas in my signature) monitoring protein, calorie and micronutrient levels and for body shape that changes with long term nutrition but didn't get a lot of traction. Regarding Kuru I believe this is a prion disease (as per mad cow) but these take a long time to manifest symptoms. Also plenty of other peoples in PNG without suffering from neurodegenerative disorders. Human meat is like other meat and if you eat it it will provide ample calories and protein so I disagree with your character looking more gaunt. I think cannibalism should remain an ethical challenge for the player rather than something that affects the character. -
Good ideas. Well worked out. Beans.

So I reckon folding knives would be a great addition. Eg:http://www.gerbergear.com/Tactical/Knives/Answer-F.A.S.T.-XL_31-000581 Folded - one square in inventory (a la telescopic baton). Open - two squares. -
Should introduce sheaths for knives and machetes. Would love to be able to use the leather sewing kit to sew a new machete storage point to a back pack.
