    * Verify the integrity of game cache through steam (Arma 2 operation arrow head) - Then launch Arma 2 operation arrow head then close the program * Re-install dayz through dayz commander (Just easiest to use dayz commander) * Re-install beta patches through dayz commander If non of these work, then I'd say your fucked.

    I like to play on both modded and normal style. I enjoy the modded servers because it adds a freshness to the game that isn't in the original game.
  6. Hello dayz community, I have some what of a theory to share with you about one of the social aspect of the game. Now take in mind this is just my opinion, and I have very little knowledge on how people would react in an end of the world scenario. Now this is something that has happened to all of us, veterans and bambies alike. We have all been killed by someone, in some way or another, by the guy we just seen (Or haven't seen for that matter.). I have heard people say at how unrealistic this is, and how people in this kind of scenario wouldn't just be running and gunning. Well I beg to differ, they would. Now don't get me wrong this is what the majority of people are doing (Just gearing up to hunt human players) in the mod. But something we also have to take into consideration is that its a game that puts guns in the hands of players with a nefarious outlook on the game, so it makes sense that this is the goal of most players. But if we take this scenario and apply it to the real world I think it has a similar outcome but not on such a vast scale. It would be madness, chaos at its finest, and we have psychopaths and murders in real life, do we not? Who is to say that someone wouldn't just roam the streets looking for people to kill. I mean, would taking a zombies life be as satisfying as slaying a living human? The zombie has already lost its life, the human has only lost his/her "humanity", for lack of a better word. So its obvious that if someone takes pleasure in killing that the human would be the better choice. So its apparent that this is something that has the possibility of being very real. Though like I said, I'm not an expert. But lets take another aspect of banditry that is rarely seen and may not even happen at all (Has yet to happen to me), and that is having your gear stolen at gun point. Now like I said this hasn't happened to me, nor have I even heard of it happening, so I can't say with positivity that it exists. This, in my opinion (If we were to take the scenario to real life), would be the more popular way to being a bandit rather than murder, though its not something that I have ever seen/heard inside the mod. The reason I believe this would be the most popular way (In real life) is because people just don't have what it takes to kill someone, and do it looking into their eyes for that matter. But then again, would people still have that level of "humanity" left? Just something to think about I suppose. Now lets get the point of this wall of text. There needs to be more incentive to play the game as you would in real life, because its very unlikely that there would just be nothing but murders in a real life scenario. But with that being said there should not be punishment (Or reward) for the way you like to play. Take the bandit mask, and hero skin for example, is this not a punishment and reward system? If this scenario were to be posed in real life, such a system would not exist. You wouldn't know the "good" guys between the "bad", and in my opinion this punishment/reward system we have now is majorly flawed (Destroys the realism for that matter.). From what I get out of the ideal sense of the game is that its to simulate this sort of scenario (But lets not get ahead of our selves its still just a game) and this system takes away from that. Though what can you incentivise to keep people playing? For this seems like its the only goal to achieve, other than getting gear out the ass. Lets look at online stats. I know, I know, stats can be a bad thing for a game and could in its self destroy the game play (Witch is what I'm trying to "fix".). But don't add stats that would do just that (kill/death ratio, accuracy, number of murders, ect.) . There are tons of statistics I could name that would keep the foundation of the game intact, without distracting the player from the game its self. Now I do remember that dean said there would be more goals in the stand alone, so I am just going by what I have to work with at this exact moment. Its a problem, and its a problem that takes away from not only the realism but takes away from the submersion of the game. And In my opinion those are the two most important things in the game. *So what would you add to keep the game "fresh", without adding punishment and reward systems? Discuss. -Spaces were added between lines to keep it easy on the eyes - TL:DR There isn't one, don't be a lazy!

  8. @ Regulator Lone Yes, very right. But community really wasn't the main point of the post so I did leave that out. There are tons of scenarios and other factors I didn't mention, mainly because I wanted to stay on topic.
  9. @ Skat3rat That is a very good point you bring up. And is even a factor I forgot to put in. I said there needed to be more incentive to play the game as you would in real life. But that is very hard because no one knows how they would react. So the best thing I could say is make the best guess possible.
  10. @ Imafighter You are going to have to explain deeper into that. You quoted me when I was talking about taking the ingame scenario and putting it to real life. I never said that they were a majority, but would exist. So are you talking about murders and psychopaths being a minority in real life or the game?
  11. I agree, this game would be rainbows and unicorns without bandits (A very bad thing, for the game would be boring.). But you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between a hero and a bandit.

    Who else LIKES the new update?

    The new patch is great. The only thing I am bummed about is that the alice pack now holds less items, and I lost all my good ammo (8 round pellets) for my shotgun. Thats what I use to kill other players when need be. I believe this was the only part of the update that was uncalled for.
  14. So there are two new features to the map namalsk with the new update. The blowout witch is fine in my opinion, and the bloodsuckers. So with the addition of bloodsuckers comes some balancing issues. They are way overpowered. Now I don't mean how the strike, or run speed, there is a problem with how they turn invisible (Not the traditional S.T.A.L.K.E.R way) and how they spawn. The first problem I'm going to address is how they spawn... The fact of the matter is I have no clue how they spawn atm, though I have a hunch is like zombies witch means there are... one: Too many blood suckers, two: They are always around. So how do you fix this? Well I believe they should be like chopper spawns (with a catch). Once a server is reset a certain number of bloodsuckers will spawn (Number limit should be up to the admins). Now with this being said there is a problem of no bloodsuckers being on a server because they were all killed. So here is the catch. When a bloodsucker is killed another will spawn at a random location on the map. Also bloodsuckers should roam the entire map, making them a threat everywhere, not just the mountains and other wooded areas (Never had a blood sucker encounter out of those two general locations.). Problem number two... The way they go invisible is not the original way in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. they would only go invisible if they saw a threat (You or another NPC (Non-player character ). This gives the player the ability to avoid a bloodsucker or gives him/her the jump on said bloodsucker. The problem with them now is that the only way to tell if one is around is if you hear it (You will never see one unless its close, well I haven't so...) and that means its already on you and I have not been successful in escaping a chase.     Lets fix the zombies ghosting through walls, hitting through walls, going aggro because they seen you through a wall, being able to hit you from over 5 meters away. Then we will worry about this.

  18. Dayz commander now has the new namalsk update. I will continue to give feedback on bloodsuckers in this thread if needed. Lets hope they are better than before. Cheers :D

  20. Well that's sort of what I'm getting at when I say "Too many of them". And I can't find anywhere to tell me how they spawn, so technically they still can spawn off players. Zombies wont spawn if a player is in a car but who is to say that blood suckers are the same? Either way, thanks for posting :D

  24. I usually stick to one server, so its hard to say in my case. Other than that, don't see and or get killed by a hacker as much as I used to. I have only seen 1 in the past 3 weeks, but like I said I stick to one server with active admins.
