With a standard 40 grain bullet you get 1,080 ft/s (330 m/s) 104 ft·lbf (141 J) This kind of force should knock you on your ass so I hope at least it has high shock damage.

Thanks for this.

It has enough muzzle velocity to kill with a head shot. To the body I would think 5~7 is fine.

As soon as modding is allowed I'm going to make a DayS mod where the "S" stands for survival and I remove all the fucking zombies.

Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?

Define playing this game properly that isn't swayed by your own personal opinion. -

So here I was minding my own business looting when I hear the loudest shot ever in my life. I start running, it's super dark and I have no idea where the shot came from. I start to serpentine and use free look and spot a Mosin guy directly behind me! I use the nearby houses as cover and weave my way through them a couple of times. Sadly I ended up in a dead end so I think fuck it i'm gonna go down fighting and whip out my axe, hide behind a corner and wait for him. Bingo bongo goes my axe to his body and he starts to run away! I give chase and catch up steadily (must have been all those oranges I ate). Swinging wildly as I run after him. I drop him and see he is unconsciously sliding away..well not on my watch! I cleave him like fresh bread and he dies. So I start to loot him then his buddy comes to axe me in the back...aww hell no I though and hit him to the ground as he gets up he tries to switch to his sidearm so I just slam my trusty axe into him until he dies. The thing that really got to me the most was after it was over I was shaking so badly I didn't know what to do next loot, hide or run. My arms felt like jello...wow that DayZ rush is back in a big way. -
Cop shop spawns them and they have 4 slots across so perfect for a sawn off shottie.

Here is the thing in the current build the only areas to shoot are head, chest and legs. The backpack is counted with chest so it take damage from front and back equally.
-
As long as passive skills do not effect combat proficiency or movement then it's fine.

Have any of you guys looks at the stats for the different sets of clothing on DayZDB? Military clothes offer the best protection to bleeding in the game and also have the most slots.

How come the NW airfield is just about the safest place on the map atm?

I got into 1 huge firefight there in SA and that's all. I think the biggest reason it's dead is because there are no more Heli sites to loot around it. -
Too much food. I wan't to feel the NEED to eat rotten food, or die of starvation.

Incorrect reticle positioning is seriously confusing me
Estyles posted a topic in General Discussion
Currently in the experimental build the reticle changes depending on gun raised or lowered in 3pp and 1pp. I think they should all line up as anything else is just silly. These pictures are taken while holding the same position on the house just to illustrate how far the reticle moves. http://imgur.com/a/jNmC5 -

I think you guys are just used to how poorly optimized Arma has been all this time to realize that it very amateurish to have an oversight on something this simple to fix. If I could edit reticle placement in the .ini file I'd do it myself like I need to do in Bethesdas crap shows as well. -
There should be no high grade weapons in standalone
Estyles replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure how many people are into firearms irl but honestly military grade rifles are pretty easy to come by domestically albeit semi auto only. Same with scopes as almost any decent hunting rifle comes with one. The reality of firearms in today's society says we should easily find weaponry of all types, however for things like .50 call rifles you cannot fire them standing with any accuracy so this should translate to the game. Long distance shots need to be taken prone simple as that. Change this aspect of game play and balance would be found a lot more easily than expected especially if a fatigue system was in place Also if any time had passed since the out break and over running of society ammunition would be somewhat dried up in my view so make the gun easy to find but the ammunition scarce. Just my 2 cents.
