Reproduction (a new way of spawning?)
An_Orphanage replied to Fenastus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well the baby survivors would be all but invisible. They can only crawl and easily disappear in tall grass, once they get the camouflage nappy outfit you'd never see them sneak up on you.... -
Not sure if a rename or something easy could fix it, but changing the MP5SD and M4A1 Camo SD to use normal ammunition (MP5 and STANAG mags, respectively) would help largely with the realism. The MP5SD cannot use subsonic ammunition, as it will not cycle the action. Instead the barrel has a series of porting holes along it that vent gas from normal supersonic cartridges, which allow the friction in the barrel to slow the bullet to subsonic speeds. The M4A1 will not cycle with subsonic ammunition, again due to not enough gas pressure to work the action. Suppressed 5.56 rifles/carbines do suppress the muzzle report, but cannot remove the sonic crack from the supersonic projectile. As a note, the only suppressed weapon in the game that can properly use subsonic ammunition is the M9 SD, as the barrel is not ported, and the heavier 147grain projectile can produce enough pressure to cycle the slide. However a suppressed M9 can also use standard (supersonic) ammunition, though the sonic crack will still be heard along the bullet's path.

Some kind of earpro would be awesome, like Sordins to help block out gunshots and perhaps filter some of the ambient noise (hear footsteps and breathing more clearly). They should be somewhat rare, maybe a little more so than binocs, but not as much as NVGs.

You get hungry/thirsty even when offline?
An_Orphanage replied to Kuroi (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I can see this as reasonable, but what I don't understand is, while your hunger and thirst may be flashing when you log back in, will your blood decrease while you are logged out? I travel for work and being unable to log in for maybe a week at a time would make this instant death for my character unless blood is not lost while logged out. -
New character same equipment??

WOAH WOAH WOAH. Lets not blame Steam for what is obviously an inadequacy of your misses (ISP) Steam downloads super fast if you pay enough! I have a 4MB line for my computer (not shared), none of their servers will give me more than 350KB/s of download though. Suckage on having to buy another copy, guess he won't be trying DayZ then. -

Damn, so I'd have to put the all this crap on another computer to let him try it? I am not looking forward to another 14hrs of slow Steam downloads. -
I was going to let my brother try DayZ by just making a new char so he could start from scratch. However, when he spawned, he spawned into the exact location as my char and with all my gear. I am not sure if this is a glitch or if somehow chars all share equipment, can anyone advise on this? I did not let him play since I wasn't sure if his eventual death would ruin my character as well.

While it would be nice to have humanity displayed (especially when joining a server, to see if its just a bandit wasteland), it should not regenerate without doing good acts, as this would just let bandits idle until they could lure people again once their humanity had refilled. But yes, it would be awesome if humanity was displayed, though perhaps as some kind of skin. I.E. better camouflage as your humanity increased (woodland camo, or eventually a ghillie suit), and worse as it decreased (eventually leaving you in a dayglow orange prison jumpsuit, since you apparently escaped from a super max pen).

I agree that freezing to death on a hot, sunny day is bull, especially in a coat and kevlar (have you worn kevlar? it is quite toasty in the sun). I'd be much happier if standing in the sun restored temp, even at the cost of needing to hydrate more.

Since the introduction of sickness from the cold, the last day of constant rain seem to be aimed entirely at killing off the various mountain men surviving in the wilderness (who now also require firewood, despite being in a forest) or forcing them to go back into the cities which are pretty heavily camped by bandits. I get this idea from the insanely low spawn rate (.22%) of antibiotics, which pretty much means any lone survivors or even small groups will be killed quickly either from sickness, bandits or just trying to raid hospitals over and over for the abysmally low drop rate. It's not the fault of survivalist players that the cities have become overrun with bandits (and in some cases, bandit clans), and it's not fair to try and force people back into towns to fix that problem. So it would be nice if you could give us a better chance, since blood bags (which have not been refrigerated) have a drop of 22%
