Character peristence is a main feature of Dayz. That means one logical character server. It wont change. However, it needs to be reliable (however many physical servers that takes!).

As the team are heading to the UK on Thursday (http://www.rezzed.com/ ) that gives them 3 days (inc today) to issue the patch and hotfix for any immediate issues :-) So I reckon the extra testing they're been doing on 1.7.2 will be done very soon.

Hope this is a good place to put this. Ended up in the wilderness with 1.7.1. Escaped as follows :- 1. find server canada 2 (filter on "dayz _ canada 2" or something) For some reason this gets you to the debug forest. Don't ask me how. EVEN if you get a client error (versions) ignore it. 2. Head EAST for 2KM. That's all. 3. Restart and connect to server of choice. You're back! EDIT: brings you onto the map WEST of Zelenogorsk

Blimey, if you take away the zombie challenge (speed, zig-zagging) you'd end up with a 100% pvp and you might as well rename the game "Day".

^ nah - steam is a red-herring; it happened to me last week with retail games. I'd just updated to a new version, tried a couple of servers and ended up in the wilderness; I either joined a wrong server or just had a data corruption. NB. "debug forest" fix is on Monday (1.7.2). Re. the lack of support, the game is in early development so players take a big risk trying it out. We're really testers. You either play and accept bugs or don't bother.

Thanks Rocket. Looking forward to the zed audiblilty reduction through objects. V.dangerous around buildings at the moment! QUESTION. when you say "debug forest fix" does that include the wilderness or is that a separate issue.

^ did you run as far as a town? Basically have to get out of the debug forest. NB. fixed in 1.7.2 (Monday). http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=18575&pid=166866#pid166866

The "debug forest" bug is fixed in the next patch (due Monday). Not clear whether this also covers the debug wilderness.

I'm guessing that some issues are as a result of the latest dayz patch REQUIRING THE LATEST ARMA2 CLIENT BETA PATCH. This is a bit messy and so I'm not surprised if newcomers are having issues. The easy way is to follow instructions at http://dayz.sykotix.com/arma-ii-beta-client-install/ Follow the instructions carefully. Note that the script provided will start the game in windowed mode. From Rocket: Found the issue causing the debug forest spawn. Fixed in the next hotfix (1.7.1.6), eta 8 hours. We'll see if that sorts the wasteland out too. -

Can zeds morph through walls? Crawling behind a wall I can hear the zed on the other side; next second there's a zed behind me (makes me jump 10ft in the air); happened a couple of times.

I think this "fix" = make sure you are running the latest dayz and arma2 clients. Never does any harm to remind people though. -
Stupid question time - how do you throw an object? I guess they can be used to divert zeds?? (perhaps useful to get out of buildings)

Does Six Updater/Launcher do both dayz client + arma2 client? (both needed to run dayz). Chances are there's a version mismatch somewhere, e.g. if you're running the latest dayz client (1.7.1.5) then you must join a server that says 1.7.1.5 in its title (best to set the gamespy filter up to 1.7.1.5 for obvious reasons).
