I've always thought that Dayz could be a game that bridges the gap between SP and pvp. Dayz will never have a traditional SP architecture (nor should it) but that doesn't prevent lone players from getting something out of this game. The objective of the game - to stay alive - is met more easily in a group. For lone players it's much harder. The dog-with-radar, due in next patch, may offer some help (or hindrance!). After that the main avenue of interest for lone players is in the game stats and the leader boards that come with them (kills, places visited, object found, etc etc.) all of which will come in time.

Re. engine... just dipped in here after a few days and saw this "DayZ Standalone will be running a heavily modified version of the Real Virtuality 4 engine" Posted by Inu Dayz Forum Team member. Guess he knows what he's talking about. Means somebody's been busy, or will be very busy in the next few months. we all get artifacts - just toggle vsync to remove them, albeit temporarily. I know the plan is still to "support" the mod but I don't really see the point in spending much more, if any, effort on it.

The mod "support" will continue. Doubt we'll see any development.

From the current survey, 25% of respondents are lone players. One of the factors I'd consider to be crucial in the experiment's success is to see how many of those players Rocket can get to team-up.

Are you a lone player or do you play in a group? This game is really a multiplayer game. Team up, build a camp (over multiple servers), find a bus, fly a chooper etc etc. PS. perhaps for lone players rampant and senseless PK'ing/Not enough incentive to team up with strangers is a problem. -

I've been playing for a couple of months and the infected are perhaps the easiest they've been. If you fired the Lee Enfield a couple of months ago near (or in) a town you'd have had 20/30 zeds on you very quickly. Now its alot less than that -half a dozen at the most- especially if you keep moving. Hearing and seeing ranges are the easiest they've been aswell. If I do have a problem with infected its the immersion factor. When you approach a building (or buildings) they spawn on the outskirts and walk outwards. Once you break the perimiter there are no infected in the centre (e.g. of the town/villiage). -

Can infected hear? I know before they could hear through walls which was a PITA, but it now seams to have gone the other way. The Enfield doesn't cause as much aggro'ing as it did a month ago. Shame, I think, but it now appears to be the simple-tech primary of choice. -
Arma2 Beta Client 95054 seems fine (after Battleeye client errors).
