  1. Thank you for clarifying that, and I do agree it would be a great atmospheric effect for the dead bodies and the wrecks. Not so much the smoke though, as I'm fairly sure this is set years after the outbreak. Perhaps rust on the more wrecked cars? After all, years of exposure should make sure none of these cars are shiny. Never forget. Always remember the accidental innovation and amusement apache25 has provided.
  2. While I do not agree with having it limited, as they really need all the stats they can get, whiny, whingy or not, I do agree there should be a closed board for the serious minded suggestions. For example. I'm betting you all know who apache25 is. And I'm betting you'd like to see a reduction in posts like that. And people will always cry about something they've paid for. Just look at those who don't want to play fairly paying for hacks, and qq-ing when they're banned and have the general excuse of "Well I paid money for it so it should work for me."

DayZ: Night Life, the way it should be IMO

Now, while I do not like the idea of the lights still being on so long after the virus struck. And things such as infection and npcs have already been discussed a great deal. Regardless, however. While not containing original suggestions, this post has a description no page of words can match. I absolutely love the way you've set up lights, and I think they would be the perfect set up for night if/when players build bases and are able to make generators, etc. The tactics that this would force you to use would be simple, yet provide a layer to the night time play. Do you shoot out the lights as you go, alerting players to your general location to avoid zombies? Or do you try to sneak around undetected, but in the dark? See what you can lure out by taking the lights out at range? The myriad of possibilities are only made better because we can see what the lights would look like. Thank you for this video, I wish half of the suggestions here contained content like this.
  6. The part of the round that would actually be sparking would be the steel core of the round, not a copper jacket. Copper and brass do not spark as well, and it's a common error you see in movies, likely just to enhance the effect of the bullet striking whatever surface it's hitting.
  7. Lead does not spark, it is a soft metal and will not provide the ignition necessary to set a jerry can on fire. If there are steel or other such ammunition, then I could see that happening.
  8. It does make sense. but sandbags and a few armed soldiers aren't going to keep that many people who want out, well, out. Even a small car could plow through a sandbag wall. Perhaps the military blocked the road with tank traps, barbed wire, and a few neatly placed wrecked cars?It would be a much more effective blockade. Also, the road would have to be on an overpass or something, without an easy way to get around the road block. Perhaps set over a large river, or something of the nature. I liked the thought that this could give the illusion of the map continuing, instead of the invisiwalls we have.
  9. I wouldn't be tossing this at zombies or the ground. I'd definitely do my best to peg some other player. Then sit back and watch. Instatainment.
  10. Now there we go, though I would have it as a tow truck instead of a crane. Added to the additions list. As for outposts not spawning loot, I would find that frustrating. New building type, enterable, without loot? Saddening. Perhaps it would have just basic spawns, food, etc. Though that's getting slightly off topic, but still on it.

    new chernobyl map idea

Hello again. It's time for another session so soon. So, not five minutes after you 'delete' your thread that had been renamed and rewritten, you create this mildly amusing and almost semi original thread. Your original is still there, by the way, taking up forum space. Then you go on and fully ruin it by admitting you took the idea from Stalker. Too lazy to put in the periods, as you seem to be too lazy to figure some simple things out. First, if we wanted to play Stalker, we'd be playing Stalker, not DayZ: Stalker edition. And once again, you have provided nothing original beyond the limited spawn, which is a limitation on the game we should never hope to see, and spawns where you have some food and water, which can be good or bad depending on how it's played. Once again, you've managed to post something that is only mildly original, and when someone points this out, all you do is complain, call us nazis, and generally seem to take offense to anything disagreeing with your suggestion. Once again, I'm tired of having to wade through all your topics just so I can read the good, original ideas other people are posting. Ideas that should stay on the front page of the forums for people to see. TL:DR version. Evolve into a more mature being before posting again.

    Stand Alone Title

    DayZ: The Beta
  13. It was my understanding that the Utes map was the island, with Chernarus being a mainland state. If it was an island, then no, there wouldn't be this kind of mass panic and gridlocked highway. Though, a boat graveyard would be just as fun. Don't get me wrong, negative constructive criticism gives you the balance you need before you get an inflated ego, and it is always welcome in my threads. On to your next point. When people panic they generally grab everything near them that they think would help them survive. Most drop family valuables and clothing, besides what they could wear, obviously, and would grab weapons, ammunition, food, and water. Anything else would be a burden and likely left behind. As a novel idea it would be fun, and add to the immersion, to find the occasional picture of a family or note left behind on a picture in a car that someone took in a last, sentimental moment. Thus it would be plausible to find food, water, and those such items in the cars that people left in panic because they loaded their car with too much and when it became apparent they were no longer moving along the road, had to leave behind. As for a highway, Chernogorsk is not the small industrial city the game paints it to be, though that is due to the limitations of the engine, and the fact that you don't want such a detailed city to lag the server down. In actuality, the city is just over 70k people in population. I do believe it is a mining city of some sort, in the Khakassia Republic, which is located in south/central Russia. This is all of course stipulating that the same city in the game is based on this real city, but you can see why I would place a highway near such a large and economically important city. Even post Soviet Russia has to have highways. As for your suggestion of there not being a mass panic over this infection, I really don't understand why there wouldn't be. True, Russia doesn't have the vast media networks many modern countries do, but with a population that big, it would be hard to avoid a mass panic when people in the streets saw other people being eaten. Word of mouth is a terrifying way to get news out. It gets distorted, warped, and genuinely more terrifying the more people pass what they saw or heard on. And with the looting, rioting, and general chaos that would consume a city when the outbreak struck, well, it would make sense everyone would want to get out at the same time. If you have any disagreements with any of the points above, I would be happy to tackle 'em. I like it when people actually challenge my suggestions. I don't agree with putting in more military spawns in the game, as I think Rocket has mentioned making less of them and the gear they spawn much less common. A crane could be very fun, but in my opinion it's too specific of a use to bother fixing up a crane, then moving cars out of the way, then repairing a car so you could drive it off. But it is a neat idea.
  14. I mentioned that o3o. I would enjoy watching someone get a car, then realize they're going to have to ram their way out of the road. Also adjusting for the rarity of fuel. Fuel canisters have a capacity now, so this makes it more worthwhile to add.
  15. The only reason I suggested they wouldn't be all repairable or drivable is merely for the sake of keeping the servers a driving mess. I'm unsure of what effect that would have on the servers, load and lagwise. I do however agree, many of the cars would be able to be repaired, realistically. This would need to be balanced very thoroughly, as it would be considered a very high reward area. First off, there should be zeds everywhere in this small, close quarters area. A lot of them would have stayed, and truthfully there is nothing like not being able to go inside and cower when you've alerted one of the flesh hunger monsters to your presence. It should also be very open save for in between the cars, and a horrible place to be ambushed by bandits. There should not be vehicles with any weapons spawnable, or at the absolute least, utterly rare. Those would have been picked apart and driven off first. Civilian vehicles, trucks, semis. All those vehicles you'd see on a jam packed highway of fleeing and panicked people should be there. Military grade vehicles should, likewise, be completely uncommon there as well, as they wouldn't have used the roads like that and would have been more suited to go off of them. It is a good suggestion, adds to the realism, and the list is edited as such. I also meant that they shouldn't be drivable immediately, and will clarify. And while I may not like the blatant disregard for netiquette, apache25 is welcome to continue to be the butt-end of many jokes here, so long as he doesn't remain a nuisance.

So after getting flak from other users who are tired of seeing your unoriginal threads, you swap out those old ideas for completely different ones, and, as I will say, once again, you are suggesting nothing that has not already been discussed. You are either too stupid to realize that there is a search function, and we only dislike you because you aren't smart enough to use it, or you are knowingly and willingly violating the content of the 'read before posting' thread stickied to the top of the forum. I ask for his beans and that his ability to post in this forum be limited and monitored. It is at the point where good, original ideas get lost in the waves of sludge.

    New vehicle idea

Most amusing suggestion by far. And would be the subject of many, many, gameplay videos. Can you imagine if they had old push wheel chairs? You could arm someone with a broken leg and then push them out of the city as they mowed down the zeds in front of you.

    Contact Admin or Admin channel

There would need to be a way for an admin to open up communications via a private message to a player, not the other way around. Say in side chat, someone says they just got hacked, bugged, and any of the other griefs people talk about. The admins could at their discretion message the player to ask what was going on, details, etc. Basically, players shouldn't be able to spam admins about every little complaint.

Oh ho? This would imply that other roles could not climb head high walls, now wouldn't it? Sounds like a perk to me.
  20. I've already suggested a bunch of sabotage ideas for food/blood bags/vehicles. Didn't think of this one. But it would be amazing.
  21. I agree with this, it would make sense not everyone would be able to get to the highway before getting stuck. Maybe it would be a more common spawn instead of just one long stretch of dead cars. Aww. Don't say that. You gave us wall climbing machetes after all! Yes, yes, and more yes! Being able to take the wheels off of cars would be awesome. And, as a side note, the lead bearings in a car wheel can actually, with use of a lead furnace, be melted into ammunition. List updated.

First off, done to death already, the class discussions have been. Second, this would imply there were settlements, which, guess what? Already done to death. And both ideas have received a huge negative and quite resounding 'no' attitude towards. Class systems take away from the fact that this is a game that you make, not some skill tree or role 'descriptions.' Which, by the way, you do an absolutely below-par job in doing. There are no obvious bonuses for anything besides scavenger, and spawning with a gun has, yet again, been suggested, once more, and negatively reacted to. Anyone in this game is supposed to be anything, be it bandit, medic, woodsman, or even policeman. It isn't something they have to stick with, and these rather bland and limiting roles suggested detract from the unique experience that is DayZ. These roles all suggest that there are is some sort of 'town' or 'settlement' system in place, which, if you'd bothered to actually take the time and describe, might be enjoyable to read! But here we are wondering what kind of powerful force could have survived in this hellhole, and you fail to deliver, as always. Again, no has already been said to these, and if you'd bother using the search button, we wouldn't have this problem. Stick to your wall climbing machetes and think of something that isn't garbage on your own.

    Dive button

No no, he means dive to the sides, as in quickly throw yourself to the side to get some cover behind yourself and a sniper. Popping out of the water to shoot someone would be amazing, though. But I digress. It wouldn't be an unrealistic or game breaking addition to the game. Jumping to the side to immediately be behind something to block bullets would be my first plan of action if someone fired on me. And it would be a simple control, such as double tapping the q or e buttons.
  24. You earn none of my beans, and all of my facepalms
  25. That's true, and while it is a small help, that's for the mod, and is a problem that should be taken into consideration for the standalone. I think more visual cues should be entered into the system, such as more gestures. Being able to wave to your right or left and direct people without needing to speak would do wonders for playing as a team. Being able to wave stupidly in the air would be fun too.
