    Search Dumpsters!

Well that would be where Makarovs belong :D
  2. How does shooting someone who has barely any supplies, most of which you do not need, help you, either? Survivors won't all band happily together to benefit the good of the group over their own wants and needs, many would turn to banditry, though in the mod this is due to lack of things to do once you've figured out the zeds and found yourself good stuff. It's human nature to want to thin out the competition.
  3. Unfortunately, placing a cartridge backwards into a magazine does nothing at all. The firing pin would strike the bullet itself, and wouldn't ignite the primer on the back of the round. But, most automatic rifles and really anything that takes a magazine would foul, as the bullet would not be able to fit into the breach like that. It would likely require a couple seconds for the player to figure that out and then drop the mag out, thus requiring them a few seconds of time to unjam the gun. Shooting tires is fun indeed, but what if you don't have a gun, and only a toolbox, or even just one set of wireclippers? Variety is the spice of life, death, and sabotage. I did suggest rigging explosives to objects, but you should always be able to find them with careful examination. Likely to miss them, if you're rushing into the vehicle, but they shouldn't be so hard to find everyone eschews vehicles for the prospect of NOT getting blown to smithereens. Indeed. There is a fine line between wanting to make a game that simulates an action, and one that tries too hard and makes itself unplayable. And so would I. A much more satisfying death than just gunning them down. Heh. I'm not sure how viable poisoning a pond would be. But it would be amusing. Water purification tablets would be a counter. And all of these would be the most amazing videos ever.

    Suggestions Suggestions Suggetions

This, all of this. It would be great to know what will be incorporated, or at the very least what is being looked at. It would also be nice if the dev team working on the SA could have someone designated to filter this forum, a staggering task, no doubt, and post a thread containing what they're finding adequate and fitting for the SA version.
  5. It of course depends on the weapon and the type of ammunition, but, doubling the weight of the ammunition carried would indeed make the weapon weigh enough to make it uncomfortable to hold. They're adding a weight/stamina/fatigue system I do believe. It would be plausible that a weapon with doubled magazines and/or this additional storage would weight more. But true, an AK-47 magazine barely weighs more than two pounds when fully loaded.

    Vehicle Location Beacon

Military spec tracking devices would be incredibly rare and likely worthless, as I'm not sure how long those satellites would continue to function and transmit given all the chaos that would have transpired during the outbreak. RFID tags are an interesting concept, and would work if you could find a way to somehow realistically find one, and a reader. The problem with this is even with the ones that don't rely on the reader to broadcast a signal, their range is only around 300 feet maximum, and I'm unsure exactly how the reader would tell you where exactly this tagged object is
  7. You forgot the crossbow part :P
  8. I was fairly sure someone had already suggested doubling up assault magazines, but I'd be all for it. Duct tape plus two magazines. Makes the gun heavy as all hell though.
  9. Heh. Gets a little off the topic of what I'm suggesting, but I would enjoy seeing a bunch of people going around in Eastwood-esque outfits. I would also enjoy hearing movie quotes spoken with mouthfuls of sand. Not sure why gun damage issues came into discussion here though, I'm suggesting additional storage for ammunition on the weapons themselves.
  10. I don't think that's what he meant. I think he meant like freeing up the inventory for other things. (He gave me beans after all. Yummy!)
  11. Honestly I'd never thought of bandoliers before. They'd likely function like the extra webbing and specialized storage that's supposed to make it into the game. But, bandoliers = +1 badass.

    Home-made attachments!

I'ma stay away from my thoughts on duct tape silencers and sights, as they've already been thoroughly talked about. An added note though, just because a gun is heavier, does not mean it recoils more. In fact, the added weight in the gun helps to absorb the recoil. A bayonet would be positioned to make the gun more barrel heavy, and would not make it recoil more.

    Lower Tier Rifle!

I'd love to see a Toz variant. Most likely the Toz 17 or 18. They're bolt action, and the half scopes they have are ugly in my opinion :P. I believe this one is the 17

    Lower Tier Rifle!

I admit it does depend on the ammunition, and I honestly can't remember who said this, but I enjoy quoting it. "Bullets do wonky shit when they meet wetpack." Round nosed .22lr rounds would probably be the best kind of ammo to support this. They deflect a great deal when coming into contact with bone on a slant. Perhaps deflect would be a better word.

    Lower Tier Rifle!

I beg to differ on .22 ammunition. There are multiple stories where the rounds are able to penetrate the head, either from the eye or through the skull itself, but do not have the velocity or force necessary to exit, and instead pinball around the inside of the cranium for several bounces. You can imagine how very dead a person would be if this happened. There are versions of the .22 that can achieve nearly four thousand fps muzzle velocities, as well.
  16. Insufferable taunts. The kind that would get you instantly shot.

    Infected children in DayZ. Poll.

I apologize in advance for this, but I think you should have either not started this thread or should excuse yourself from it, given the fact that you have what seems no chance of allowing your mind to be changed, which is admirable, but leads only to an unproductive thread. You are entitled to defend your view, and you are indeed entitled to voice your opinion, but by starting it as a poll and then strongly advocating not placing children infected in the game, you come across as trying to influence the opinions in a rather unscrupulous manner. I understand you have a child, and it would be rather wrong and hypocritical of me to say that I understand, but this is a game. More importantly, this is the suggestions thread for a game, and by starting this thread you may have asked a hard question many of us answered, but it seems you didn't want to hear the answers many have given. You have given your point, and responding in defense of it to every poster who disagrees isn't going to help.

    Infected children in DayZ. Poll.

When you put it that way, I'm honestly hard pressed to form a cohesive argument to debate it. No, I don't want this to become a 'selling point' or a listed 'feature' of DayZ, or an avenue for which players can be blocked from this unique experience due to rating systems, and morality issues. Honestly, now that I take a look at it beyond my opinion, is risking DayZ's playability or reputation justified by that small realistic effect that children infected will add? No, I think not.

    Infected children in DayZ. Poll.

This is a hard choice to make, honestly. First off, I have no kids, I'm only 22 to begin with, and don't even have anyone that important in my life. But I have a kid brother, and.. well it definitely says something that Rocket is suggesting this. I don't mean that as it's a bad, or inhumane, idea. I actually rather like the realism it would provide. Children would have been more susceptible to the virus than older folks with stronger immune systems, and would likely have been among the first age groups to be most heavily impacted. It makes sense, and it would likewise make sense that they're still around as infected along with the other zeds. There is an incredible amount of negative backlash that could be generated from this though. I mean, shooting infected children isn't something you see in every zombie game for a reason. I agree with the posts above, that it doesn't serve much more than adding to the realism. But admittedly, we play this game because of the atmosphere, because it feels sort of like what would happen if the zombie apocalypse did hit us. There would be children infected, and they would likely try to bite our throats out. So I vote yes. But perhaps there could be a way to turn them off, show them as children on one player's version, and the little hopper things on another player's. In modern warfare 2 there is the infamous airport scene. You could kill civilians, and while there weren't any children that I saw, it still was a rather interesting concept. My two bits, take them as you will.
  20. Back to the topic indeed. And perhaps some day I might check out your server. I believe there has already been discussions on being able to camo-net your cars, and hide them more effectively. A player could literally walk past a car in heavy plant life without knowing it was there. As it is, clamp style wheel locks would be both unrealistic to find, and honestly wouldn't contribute anything to the experience. As others have said, it would just make it more likely for the would be thief to loot the gear in the car, then frag it to teeny, tiny pieces. Lacking a grenade, a lot of other people would use other means to destroy or make the car unusable.
  21. Sarcasm is meaningless on the internet, as there is no way to accurately gauge the tone of someone's text. I genuinely do hope your server is fun for you, and whomever you may bring upon it. It just isn't the way I enjoy playing.
  22. Since when is this game about being fair or even about being nice to other players?
  23. Good point. Maybe there would be the smallest of open spaces between the military roadblock and the cars themselves, with several skeletons all posed between. Would imply that they died trying to get through the blockade. Skeletons trapped in cars would be somewhat creepy to find, and generally the remains of bodies should be somewhat present. Don't stay too long to gawk though, I'm betting this would be a frequent bandit stop.

    new chernobyl map idea

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing. Do you even read the rest of the forums here, or are you just here to bump your own threads?
