    Get rid of Snipers completely?

Anyone else see the problem with this?
  2. Thought you said at one point this wasn't your alternate account. Quit bumping your own threads. Or at least have the fuckin' courtesy to do it on the same account you bloody started it with!

    Floating Battle Ship!

    The only explanation is aliens.
  4. I suggest this thread be buried then, as Bedyr can't produce logs. Also, I suggest anyone wanting a fair game to go elsewhere. Something smells rotten on US 2804.

    Musket's and Minie' ball ammunition.

Was playing that when it was still a mod. Good times. But oh my god. Seeing lines of DayZ players mowing down others would be so amusing. Edit: Set up an event on a server and have people fire in volleys of Lee Enfield rounds. Get 2 20 man teams :D

    Admin abuse?

They have the ability to read logs and find where vehicles/players are, yes. But admins should not have the ability to teleport without the use of a hack. But there are so many different servers, I'd honestly just tell people you know of this server, and find a new one.

    More weapon models

Honestly the focus of the game needs to shift towards more civilian grade weaponry and armaments, not militarized rifles and machine guns. Also, please use the search function in the future, there are many threads with the same suggestions. Though he is right, the Fedorov predates the Sturmgewehr.

    Mines

A steel core bullet or steel full metal jacket could cause a spark on a steel barrel, igniting the gas fumes. Could, not will. An incendiary round would be more suited, of course. But that is off topic. On topic time. I personally don't think the mines would add much to gameplay, as stated above, most survivors would want to take the car, instead of blowing it up. And placing any kind of mine near a structure you've built and fortified runs the risk of you blowing yourself or friends to pieces, or if you've put it too close, destroying part of your hard-earned fortification.

    Arm the infected.

And I'm pointing out that this is several years after first outbreak. These soldiers are in an outbreak zone, and would have been infected quite nicely, a long time ago. If the virus spread and turned people slowly, civilization would not collapse. It is that simple. There would have been time to create an antidote, there would have been time for the military forces of the world to organize a suitable offensive, and we probably wouldn't be facing the survival game Rocket has so deliciously given us. We aren't here to make your point valid, you do that. Us saying the opposite point does nothing to help your case. And insulting our intelligence will not help you do so. But fine. Let's play your silly little word game and suppose these zeds were half infected, or whatever you want to call it. What have you added to the game? NPCs with piss poor aim and the chance for some minor loot. Congratulations, military zeds are now Bambi spawns. The problem is NPCs can only be scripted so much, can only do so much, and with the limitations of any gaming engine, are going to be exploitable. For example, look at how the zeds are now. They don't run indoors, so you can escape a massive horde by running through a small building. Dodging out of their line of sight with a few trees loses them as well. And also, you've neglected to take into account the second part of my counterpoint. So either defend your opinion better, or this thread can be relegated to somewhere else. Preferably with a shovel.

    Mines

Full barrels of gas have no oxygen to provide an ignition source for the explosion. at best, you would start it ablaze, but the most likely effect would be your round gets extinguished, and no boom for you.

    Mines

Depends on what the fuel canister is containing, and what ammunition you're using. A full barrel of gasoline won't even explode if you shoot it with a tracer round, though, so it is highly unlikely. Now if you were shooting half full steel drums of gasoline, with steel rounds or tracer rounds, then you might get an explosion. But the whole 'shoot the red barrel for explosions' thing is completely inaccurate for the most part.

    Get rid of Snipers completely?

Not true. A .50 caliber round hitting your foot would tear it and likely part of your lower leg off. The shock alone would be enough to put you unconscious until you bled out. These guns are modeled fairly realistically, in terms of damage. But I agree. The anti materiel rifles should be removed, or made so rare, ammunition rarer, that it would be detrimental to have them, when you could have a slightly less effective, but more stocked rifle. And personally I enjoy the challenge of the CZ 550. No dots or chevrons to adjust by if you don't know the range.

    Arm the infected.

First, this is several years after the initial outbreak of the infection. Everyone infected would be dead, as I've got to assume some of them couldn't cope with the infection, or they'd be what you see now, infected and hungry for your flesh. Or you would be immune. I'm not thinking there's a middle ground with how Rocket is making the game. Second, if you give military zeds weapons, it would detract from the game. There's no horror factor in an infected person trying to shoot you. The horror comes from when they yell and scream and piss and moan! And then charge your ass like you're the steaming fresh dish of meat set down on their very own Chinese buffet. And then they promptly try to beat you to death, and then try to eat you. That's scary, it cultivates paranoia, and makes you want to avoid them. These infected wouldn't have the proper coordination to actually fire weaponry, nor would they have the eyesight to do so. They'd probably get a few rounds off before the recoil tore the weapon from their hands. As a side note, AI controlled gunmen generally are either are too accurate, or so piss poor with their aim you can just kite them for easy kills. Neither of which are fun for this kind of game. My thoughts. Take them or leave 'em.

    Arm the infected.

I would enjoy seeing a military zed carrying a piece. Which it would promptly toss away in a blind, blood-driven rage to eat your face off after it has beaten you to death with its bare hands.
  15. Oh boy! We have their in game names! We can definitely get 'em now, boys.

    Get rid of Snipers completely?

I'd like to see just how many snipers are actually able to hit anything when wind, humidity, temperature and elevation all come into play. I'd also like to be reasonably sure duping is fixed, and hacking won't be rampant. Then we can see how sniping needs to be adjusted, if at all.

Is this some sort of funny DayZ math?

    Zombie "profing" cars

    ..The hell?
  19. Somebody logged back in right behind me ;_;. But a great server so far. Found three vehicles all needing some repair. Fun times!
  20. Honestly that's Rocket and BIS's choice to make. Personally though I'd like to just see it remain DayZ. It's established, it's a bit cheesy but again, familiar, and any change to the name wouldn't feel quite like the game we're waiting on.

    Kill Cam - Kill Tags

No, no, and, guess what? No. You made the mistake of A: Not finishing him off, and B: trusting him when he shot first, so I have absolutely no sympathy for you. I would have shot him more, or, if he was out of view, grenaded him. Simple, efficient, and saves either getting shot for your Samaritan efforts, or having to use medical supplies to fix him up. This game does not pander to nice sensibilities, and honestly I think you're a moron for not immediately telling him to either buzz off or get shot once you saw him coming back, but, hey, I'm just not a nice person apparently. You died because you made a set of mistakes. Merely knowing the name of the person isn't going to help. You should have asked them for it, then left them to bleed. TL;DR? That's fine. But bottom line is that this helps the survival aspect in the most minimal of ways, and truthfully would look like an aspect of the game designed to punish banditry. So no, no names, no kill cams, and no knowing. That's half the fun, after all.

    Wooden Shelter

Not a bad idea, actually. It would replace tents for a large part. But it should require something else to build it. Perhaps a hammer and nails? Maybe a saw would further allow you to build bigger and better structures.
