My Super Awesome Idea For DayZ.

I enjoy how apache25 is becoming the insider joke here. From now on I dub the usage of 'Wall climbing machetes' to refer to any idea that is so stupid it's brilliant. Even if it was just a typo. The glory!

    Littlebird vs the UH1H

Personally I think the Mi-8 or even the Mi-24 would be a better fit for a post Soviet state.

    Collectibles - encourage survival

Oh, I plan to be dropping random notes around servers to mess with people. Who knows? I might reward someone if they can bring me the entirety of my musings.

    Re-add the AS50 TWS?

    Well, rule #1 is cardio.

    Re-add the AS50 TWS?

Last time I checked this wasn't youtube. Anyway, adding in a broken gun to 'fix' a problem with many broken guns is like trying to pour chocolate on a fat person to get them to go on a diet. In other words. No.

    Collectibles - encourage survival

Way to encourage someone new to the forums. Good job, sir, now any ideas they might have had that were good won't be posted because you're an ass. Anyway. I do have to say this wouldn't fit the atmosphere of DayZ, though. Running around getting collectibles for some awesome gamey event happening at the end doesn't suit a zombie survival game. This game is about realism, not what achievements you can get or what bonuses these items will give you. It was creative, however, and it could be implemented along a different set of lines, like finding scraps from someone's journal, whether that journal be made by a player or is an item in the loot tables that you can find. Say you find a journal entry from Sergei Ivanovich, random survivor who's made it through all these years. In whatever the entry contains, there's a small memo about him needing to visit such and such a city, where you could find the next note. Anyway, keep trying, but keep in mind this 'game' is about realism and the tools we use or make to survive.

    Build IED

I.E.D = Improvised explosive device. You'd gain very little from rigging a satchel charge with some tin cans. Minor shrapnel that would only really harm someone if they were already in the kill radius of the explosive itself. Now, were you to rig a flare to a propane tank, and then shoot said propane tank, then we might be talking.

    Once again. Not surprised.

    Zombie Spawns in woods

Should zeds spawn in woods? Question for a question. Do people post without using search? But yes, it would be nice to see certain hills get some more lavish attention from zeds.

    Realistic sound and visibility

Hacking has nothing at all to do with this. These are suggestions for the standalone, not the mod, and the standalone will have its own dedicated anti hack system, and not some system designed for such a mod friendly game. On to the issue at hand. I agree with the OP on how tall you're standing affecting the noise level you're making in reverse to the game's current logic. It isn't hard to make little noise when you're walking over solid, flat surfaces, whereas if you were to crawl along, you'd have to inch your way forward to get the same level of quiet. What I don't agree with is that crouching makes more noise than walking. I believe some fabric would brush together, yes, between your jacket/shirt and pants, but you're still not touching the ground with more surface area than if you were casually strolling along the road. I believe the engine should calculate how much of your body is touching the terrain next to you, how fast you're moving, and what position you're in, for noise purposes.

    Hats! EDIT: & Dog Tags

They'd make good targets! "Ha! I shot your dick off!"

Rocket should add a silenced shoe...

Read topic title, was disappointed in the lack of shoes being suggested as a silent weapon.
  13. It does look rather pretty, looking forward to it. Not looking forward to the inevitable sniping that comes with high elevations though.

    Hats! EDIT: & Dog Tags

It would be nice if there was a way to 'paint' on your own designs to a shirt, pants, etc, using dyes or other such things you could find. I'd be rockin' some sort of Megaman shirt. I'd hope someone would do me the favor of wiping the blood off and taking it after they shot me instead of leaving it.
  15. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
  16. Now this would add to the terrifying aspect of zeds in the game. I'd personally enjoy seeing a horde of infecteds roaming through the forest/large city, this mist pooling about their bodies, spilling from their mouths as silent testimonials to the nature of their being. I think the first time that happened every single bandit, hero, and everyone in between would stop, stare, shit their pants in terror, and hide or run away. These infected hordes should also randomly shuffle into buildings, opening doors if they aren't locked by some mechanism, and thus polluting the air inside the building slowly with this mist. Some suggestions though, as it seems Rocket has placed all of the survivors as immune to being turned. At least, that's the impression I'm getting. I don't agree with the whole turning into a zombie part, though that would be interesting to see on a future mod, but I do think the survivor could get sick, maybe lethally so. After all, this is obviously a virulent strain. Coughing, shaking, inability to accurately aim down the sights. The benefits of eating or drinking should be lessened, perhaps, with the occasional bout of heaving and vomiting. Nearby survivors could get infected by proximity to the sick individual, but that should be very rare and only with continually being near them. If antibiotics aren't found, the victim of this insidious little bug would slowly plummet in condition, the coughing growing louder and more constant, running the risk of alerting unfriendly beings, both infected and not. Their vision could occasionally blur, and they could even run the risk of passing out. The sicker they get, the more other players would want to avoid them, likely, as the chances to get infected as well would go up. Running would be harder to accomplish, the virus throwing off their equilibrium, tilting them to the side like a truck without one of the wheels. As to actually getting infected, it would have to take some prolonged exposure to the mistwalkers, whether close proximity to an individual, or by staying in the cloud too long without a gas mask. Anyway, my thoughts on a terrific idea. Hope this makes it in.

    2 Suggestions for loot system

It would be nice to see the loot we can grab actually looking like it belonged in the place it was, instead of looking like some prepubescent kid swept all his stuff into a corner because mommy told him to clean his room. Likely though, that's a technical limitation, though I'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to implement. For instance, do the bodies you find disappear when the loot resets, or do they stay as permanent pieces of scenery in the room? Also, I am against any kind of method that increases the availability of military grade weaponry, as that just turns it into a shootout. So the availability of everything everywhere should be very rigorously balanced. I agree on hospitals only having the high grade medical supplies, and obviously military installations and places are going to have the highest concentration of military goods. Say these are implemented, I'd like to see a system that calculates, say, for weaponry, if a civilian grade weapon is set to spawn, and if it is, cancels out the chance of a military item spawning, making it more rare and harder to find.
  18. Can we wrestle bull sharks to keep fit too?
  19. Good idea for a thread. We should make more of these so it's easier for the devs to skim through the suggestions. This isn't my thread, but it bears mentioning. Similar to the lonely body in the woods, but with some minor differences. Summary: Abandoned Campsite A small group of tents and a fireplace, with dead bodies and a very small zed spawn. Would also have some small loot piles in the tents, giving the impression that the survivors there were happened on by some zeds, and fled. -Loot piles contain chances for some civilian weaponry + ammunition. -Food/Drink -Basic Medical Supplies (Bandages, painkillers, smaller chance for morphine, and very rarely antibiotics.) -Perhaps some diaries, notes, with entries from survivors.

    Enfield firing rate.

    Beanz for you sir.
  21. And why exactly am I going to be finding a rare British armed forces WWII relic in the midst of a former Soviet state?
  22. Items that glow on the ground and overall cartoonish graphics.
  23. I see that as a limitation of the mod. There isn't enough communication options to do so, and there aren't the weapons that would be necessary to raid bodies without actually having to kill them. I've seen suggestions on those though, and I'd like to see non lethal rounds added in, chemicals, etc. In a standalone version though, it would be interesting to see differing skins for people who raid others, non lethally, and those who kill to loot. (Clown suit would be the ultimate gag video material, by the way.)
  24. You've missed the point. There is a difference between shooting someone because they have supplies that you'd like, and shooting someone because you can. I don't know how much this would add to the game, and it could possibly be construed as a minor sort of detriment for those who like to pvp. It would be an interesting gaming mechanic though, to be able to differentiate between those who kill for sport and those who will actually raid your bodies. You had me at clown costume, by the way.
