This game is extremely unfriendly to Deaf players.
Riem replied to nkato's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not sure I've seen a thread like this, and first off, I apologize for all the times you've died because you couldn't hear clompy boots coming around the corner at you, or when a sniper took a potshot. Honestly I don't know what could be implemented to solve this, but I do hope they manage to do so. -
We should also add battery lives to flashlights. I'd enjoy hearing someone whimper in the dark because their light flickered off.
-
Yes, BattleEye kicks people for doing so. Thanks, in game anti cheat. Anywho, I actually rather enjoy the light jumping all over the place. Adds to the fear and paranoia of the dark countryside.

I'm fairly certain I saw something about the months in game being cycled every month or so, so in the span of one real year, we'd have something like three DayZ years. It would make it so crops would be harvest-ready in the span of a few weeks, instead of months. Lemme find a link to that if I can. But anyway, while it would be unrealistic to plant and wait for crops to grow so you could pick them, at least, outside of player bases, there ARE farms around the area, and I've seen many an empty field. (Save for the zombies trying to munch my face off.) Perhaps crops could spawn there on a set time period, giving another reason to explore around barns. I also agree with the wild tree spawns too. But, just so we can have fun with new people, we should have berries that make you sick after you eat 'em.

You're either in the wrong thread, or missing the point entirely. The discussion at hand is not whether or not we're fat lards trying to survive against leaner, meaner, faster zombies, but rather on suppressors and subsonic ammunition.
-
Occasionally I'll throw out random chemlights just to see what happens. Litter on a popular building, make it hilarious for people to come by.
-
I've been run over by several. Almost got landed on by a helicopter, too. It honestly depends on what server you play on. Some of the more active ones you'll see people driving around in Cherno, with big signs going 'Hey, snipers, shoot our engine blocks out.' I've found a few myself. All needing repair, but I'm not much into cars on the game anyway.

a list of suggestions which may improve dayz

I would frown on the notion of the WarZ of having pioneered the idea of weapon attachments. Or anything else for that matter. But yes, the silencer would have to be made an item, which adds some interesting challenges. First, would you be able to make your own, using machinery and knowledge you find from plans, other players, etc? Obviously you could find military grade, though those would be harder to get. Could you detach silencers to swap out ammunition, if you run low on sd mags?

Highway Area - Providing car parts and variety.
Riem replied to Riem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not all that hard to do. Just requires the ability to search and think. And yes! It would be rather creepy due to the lack of places to hide from any zombies that see you. The cars that would be driveable would have to spawn on the edge of the area, otherwise you'd have a fine time trying to ram your way out of the rest and not explode. (Though honestly I would find it hilarious to watch someone get a working car and not be able to drive it out.) As for the train crash perhaps there would be an overpass and a small set of stairs that could take you down to the train tracks level, complete with a mess of crashed train cars. -
Beards For Standalone Seasoned Veterans?
Riem replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
That would definitely get the game banned in Australia. (And likely other countries as well.) Would I be a bad person for gleefully gunning him down? -
So very true. Silencer durability would be wonderful.

Beards For Standalone Seasoned Veterans?
Riem replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, apache25, I admit it isn't nearly as innovative as wall climbing machetes. But it is a rather well thought out visual cue to how experienced a player is, instead of something obvious and immersion-breaking like a stat. Plus, beards are awesome. Perhaps when the survivor reaches a certain age, they could customize the beard into styles, etc. -
Gotta get this off my chest (few suggestions)
Riem replied to killzone_kid's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And how exactly? Any organized military forces would have long since pulled from the area, and there aren't going to be that many missions of mercy directed to a bunch of survivors in such a secluded part of the world. Everyone else on the planet is going to either be, you know, dead, or fending for themselves. Plus, there is no 'winning' or 'completing' DayZ. Each day is a rush of survival and scavenging against other players and the ever present horde of the undead. It would detract from the experience to be able to complete an 'objective.' -
wall climbing and machetes and car hot wiring plus more

Gentlemen, for your viewing pleasure, the most original and innovative use for machetes, and likely anything else, that apache25 shall ever create. -
Beards For Standalone Seasoned Veterans?

You game has skill trees? Cool. We have beards. -
DayZ: Kansas. Through all of the running I did (and boy, was there running) I don't think I changed elevation once, unless I was going through a building, one of the few I could enter, that is. And I was promptly disappointed many of the times I actually did find one. Overall the map just seems too spread out, with such little content placed inside that it drags on the fun of scavenging around for supplies. Zombies, also, seem to be able to see you through a lot of the buildings. What I did like was the way the airfield was set up, though it was much too spread out for my tastes, and honestly, There are far too many barracks. Walked through them all, picking up weapons and discarding them like I was at a Chinese buffet. Didn't see all that many vehicles, though perhaps that was just me. Looking forward to the improvements that will come.

Beans, because otherwise this game will try to incorporate too many ideas all at once. It's fine to suggest things for the standalone, but the staff should do as they feel necessary to keep the unique atmosphere and gameplay DayZ has brought to us all.
-
Maybe we should start up a 'guess what idea he'll rehash next' competition. Winner gets to feel special about themselves for a couple moments.
-
You've obviously never worked on a farm.

Re-thinking melee weapons for the standalone.
Riem replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A knife to the heart is a horribly inefficient way to kill someone. They aren't going to just drop over and die immediately, though it is fatal, and would have the chance to turn and shoot you, whack you with their own weapon, etc. -
If these were implemented, perhaps bodies/zeds could also spawn near the camp. It would give a credible reason why it was abandoned. Bodies could have survivor-like clothing, and the zeds could as well. Small chance for ammunition matching the weapons found at the camps as loot on their bodies.
-
I would enjoy seeing this implemented. It would add to the grotesque and darker nature of those who survive off of others means, and would add a way to distinguish those really bad bandits from the others.

This thread turned into a big flame war a long time ago, I suggest a lock.
