Third person and first person - you decide

I prefer to keep the 3rd person due to preference. Better to include an option rather than force 1st person down everyone's throat. I generally use first person for combat situations and 3rd person for traveling. -
Agree to disagree. I don't like this idea, at all -.- Maybe sleeping in game rejuvenate your characters health and fatigue, increasing health regen and stamina regen.

Bro, are you stupid? People who play cod/bf3 don't complain that there's no third person because the game is meant to be in first person. Take wow for instance, nobody complained that there's no first person. Its because the game is meant to be that way -.- -
Short Campaign, Single Player Free Roam

There are games like assassin's creed for single player, either that or fix/upgrade your Internet. -
Character height brings disadvantages such as being an easier target.

Don't expect anything. A game of this magnitude won't run well on consoles. Even the controls themselves put a strain on the console users. Even if the game were to be released, it would be downgraded. And even further, the release date for consoles is a long time away. The game has to be really successful before rocket even begins development for consoles. So don't expect much.

1st of all, there will be no singleplayer, due to the fact of easy looting without risk of another player. P.S. another reason singleplayer sucks. If your internet sucks, do something about it. 2nd. Blood transfusion should require two people to encourage teamwork rather than suicidal bandits. This also means that the game will be harder, but hey, I think its better this way. -

Well keep the 3rd for players that want it, and it may be OP, but everyone can use it, so if it becomes fair, even though in certain situations like the one you stated are unfair, but a sniper camping always had the advantage straight from the start. -
I think a 10 second log off delay is enough, whereas if you were in combat recently (within the pass 5 minutes) 30 seconds should do. Combat detector? - If you fired a shot, or a shot hit you or landed near you or pass you or just if another person fired a shot within a certain area. Maybe something like 0-100m for pistols, 0-350 for assault rifles - you'know either one could work, or both at once would be better. But yeh, your character is also immobile while in the delay (this delay CAN be cancelled - or it should be able to)

This IS a mini-game, so should it come with the standalone or separate purchase? Also I like it but I need other peoples opinion on this? And this is btw the first suggestion of its type. So opinions? Good/bad? -

I have a suggestion, I'm sure no one has suggested because it IS a little odd. But maybe a mini-game hosted by private servers where players are soldiers parachuting into dayz map and have a certain time limit to meet up at a certain rendezvous point or something before a zombie army attacks. Objectives? Survive or defend or something. This is to take a breath from the actual dayz, since it is more team work and more laid back since you spawn as a new character with weapons already and hence nothing to risk. I think that this is the first, awesome thing where its a realistic zombie style with an army of players. Or maybe the objectives are to survive as long as possible sorta like a wave system where after each wave you can loot ammo, find bandages or manage to safety bandage yourself without being attacked before the next round. To me this seems pretty cool, thoughts? -

I guess so, but then what happens to the hostage when: 1. The other player is a troll and will keep him hostage forever or something? 2. Ties the other player up and leaves him in a closet - might as well suicide 3. Who's gonna save you anyway if your playing solo So good idea, not sure how it is going to work though. -

I also have a question, seeing as rocket replies to other threads, I don't mean to offend him in any way, but does he actually read the stuff in this thread? I mean, he probably does, or someone who works there does, but I just don't see him post anywhere in this thread, especially seeing as there are sooo many good suggestions here by the dayz community that I find it amusing, I check this thread out almost everyday when I get he chance to. Maybe he's got the idea down and focusing on getting that get release, and maybe he'll add these suggestions later? - well this is a pretty damn ambitious project. And if he does read this: Thanks for making something that many developers fail to do, I admire what you are doing right now, continue with the great work! -

Don't get angry because I mention call of duty. But this suggestion came from it, weather should impact gameplay - snow blizzards drastically decrease vision as well as freeze the crap out of you for example. Now here is where cod comes in, when it there is thunder, shooting your gun while thunder strikes will not alert zombies, and other players will find it very hard to hear, even if they are nearby. And just to re-mention this suggestion, I would think that many others would agree with this idea, but 1. There definitely needs to be more urban places, such that a larger population would live in (hence there would be more zombies). More like the forest in Dayz now, as well as the inclusion of cities like New York (or a city thats really big). 2. The weather system should be revised, I've heard that this is based in Russia? Not sure, but if it is, adding snow would be great, and other weather conditions - dusty, cloudy, foggy, etc... Also with this suggestion, nice idea, but what will happen once the grass reaches a certain height? Does it reset? Or keep growing? That's one reason why it might not work, or more, that it wouldn't be natural, not exactly sure how to put it. Either way, I' not sure what to think :? That is one strange suggestion, although it is 'realistic'. But to me, right now it's just not worth adding in, maybe later when the game has been on the road for a while. -
I'm 98% that this guy is a hacker. I put 10 bullets into his head before he shot at me. My friend was killed by him, and he put about 5 bullets into his chest beforehand. He's still alive -.- His name is 'CareBear' in game, and I think this is him http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/user/33094-carebear/. Someone please do something about it. He was playing on server - NZ 26.

Quite some nice ideas there RyanK. I agree with most of your ideas, and yes, you should definitely be able to change weapons while moving. AND YES YES YES, Passengers should be able to shoot in vehicles. Also, I'd like to add, that you are not allowed to take stuff out of someone if they are already using it - e.g. gun. Also, another thing I like to add is detection, if you try to open another player's bag it may send a warning to the other player, (sort of like thievery in skyrim) so the more you do this the better you get, but this is how I think it should be somewhere about - 35% detection for new players stealing other new players items. Veteran players will have a heightened sense, and will increase the detection warning making it harder to steal from, and players who do this a lot have a less chance of being detected, but please note: Stealing from friends will only work once - as in, you can only get better from stealing from the same person once, AND ONLY ONCE - until they are killed that is. And with the birds, I've said this already, you should be able to shoot birds as well as loot them for meat, and your pet dog can be a retriever for you. Also I totally agree with the fact that snipers need to take in wind magnitude direction, bullet drop as well as the Coriolis effect http://www.youtube.c...?v=9P9XKbYa--g. Well, maybe not the last one (since that is a bit complicated) The only thing I disagree with, is the flame arrows really, I think its because of the consequences it has. 1. Its a bit rpg like which is not what dayz is about 2. what happens if you miss? You set the trees and house on fire 3. what happens if you hit? The person/zombie gets set ablaze (gives your position away) so it might not be worth putting fire on arrows. And to add an idea on with the arrows, there should be shoddy arrows which you can craft from wood cut with a wood-chopping axe, sharp tip, and you should be able to add arrowhead tips if your skilled enough. Theres also several types of bows: Hunting, Shoddy crafted one, Marksman - used in sport. But yeah, many good suggestions, some which have already been suggested, and the only I really disagree with is the flaming arrows. -

Hey Gieuos (guys) what about being able to make a base in the trees? Sorta like a tree house but anti-zombie or anti-bandits or something. Sorta like a hideout, like or not? -
I reckon, that it should be the other way around, instead of getting hunger faster the less health you have, it should be, the better you keep yourself healthy - so not hungry, the faster you regenerate health, but then again this amount won't be to drastic. 12000 total blood Regen should be about 1 blood/per second when full 0.75 - 1 blood/per second when nourished (200 - 266.67 minutes to regain health from 0 to full) 0.55 - 0.75 blood/per second when normal (266.67 - 363.64 minutes to regain health from 0 to full) 0.35 - 0.55 blood/per second when hungry (363.64 - 571.43 minutes to regain health from 0 to full) 0 - 0.35 blood/per second when starving (571.43 - (infinite) minutes to regain health from 0 to full) Although there can be bonuses like you stated - sitting at a campfire, or just sitting down in general - maybe even sleeping? - Or taking certain drugs/medicine or enhancing drinks or something. BTW, this is purely how I think it should be about. Edit: Also this means you think more carefully about when to eat and when you should save it up. e.g. your on 50% health, your on normal status - eat and heal faster and waste your last can of beans, or save it up when you really need it? Opinions?

Need some beans, nuff said. Nah jokes, but waiting 2 months for a game, and not showing any pictures just makes you more psyched up to see what rocket has done to the game, whether good or bad, but since it is going to be an alpha, don't expect to bite the cherry on the top of the cake. It will have problems, but this is will be an alpha, so don't be disappointed. I'm just happy DayZ has its own standalone now. Now before rocket releases the game, it just needs a badass name rather than just DayZ Standalone.

Even so, 1. if there was a cure = no zombie apocalypse (or infected people) and 2. and since cure is extremely rare, that would mean that 1 bite means your pretty much screwed, so I'm repeating, do you know how much that would fucking suck. I don't like this idea, even if you can't control being a zombie. just think of what happens after, players may mistake you for a actually player, since your still wearing gear, and not just that, I can think of many other problems that come with it. I'm sorry, but personally I really dislike that idea. -

I'm sorry, but this to me just sounds stupid. 1. if there was a cure, there would not be infected people 2. it would be too hard to incorporate 3. one bite and your a zombie because you don't have cure, do you know how much that would fucking suck? 4. the game is about survivors, not playing as infected. Cause there are people who would like to play as zombies. If you want those games, play left 4 dead or something. Btw, you do know that this has already been suggested? This has already been suggested as well, by me and many others, although you should leave the specific health to rocket to choose, and please read this before posting (its in the http://dayzmod.com/f...before-posting/) -

Obviously you do have some points, and although I do like A.I. controlled soldiers personally, and I can understand where you are coming from, but realistically, soldiers may/or may not shoot you on sight whether bandit or not to stop the risk or spreading infection and how would they know that you were a bandit? Secondly a safe zone is ridiculous unless it is built by you or your friends (or a clan base). So adding in A.I. controlled soldiers are a big risk, sorry, but the majority of people prefer no A.I.s since they are so predictable. -

I generally hunt animals to sustain my hunger, so I thought, what about being able to hunt birds? Now this would be hard, but I think it would improve your aim, and it could be fun taking a risk of firing multiple shots before you actually hit one. And since it is hard to actually hit one and find the body, maybe your pet dog could be a retriever, and certain items should temporarily boost your skills which may or may not have negative side effects. E.g. steroids, and adrenaline injections, energy drinks, that kinda stuff.
