How to incorporate a more team oriented endgame.
T-Pag replied to T-Pag's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some bandits will let you trade your life for your gun.... why not trade a magazine for 2 cantines? Besides, trading can not be forced on players, its something that happens willingly between people, it is already present in the current game... -
Would anyone be kind enough to bring me up to, or about halfway to the northwest airfield around 1230am easterb standard time tonight? Approximately 1 hour from now. I died last night but my friend did not and its a mighty long w alk to meet up with him. Don't really have anything to trade for the ride, except for me and my friends loyalty and service for the night.

How to incorporate a more team oriented endgame.

With the addition of bases, economy would indeed be filled in by the player community. Making the base a zombie hot spot is not a bad idea, but i think it would have to be done right, with random hordes attacking throughout the day, as player ran towns would become hot spots for bandits and clan battles, adding too many zombies might make them non manageable. But a system of time vs decay would need to be put in place as well. And a set distance from towns where building can not be performed. (Or perhaps have a few towns that can be rebuilt from the destruction) Regarding Fishistwonk's post, remember that we are talking about the standalone, and the revised zombie codes should fix their brokenness. -

Yea, thats how i feel as well. I could go on a ten page rant on how to turn this game from a scavenging mod to a full blown online world. -

Sorry for the misunderstanding, i still believe the world should remain dead. I just think making high-end gear take more teamwork than sneakwork will form a stronger community. If our world turned to zombies in a matter of a week, military bases would be swarming with undead soldiers and civilians who took refuge before the plague attacked. Put smaller military outposts with mid-grade and a rare chance here and there for something special and you have a stepping stone for people to prepare for the Airfields. -

No matter how the standalone turns out, it will be without a doubt better than alpha, but it can also be so much more. I believe if you give the players a true sandbox, castles will rise from the sand. Incorporate more features to form barricades and light structures, allow for more items needed than one player can manage to scavenge and people will strive more towards team-work and factions. This will create more "home" servers for people, and as players interact for control of neighboring turf factions will surely form. Toss in a few NPC hotspots with demanding loot, that literally takes 15 people to enter. (Military Bases and their prized possesions) And watch as the small skirmishes at the airfields transform into huge battles for control of the server. This game can learn a lot from Ultima Online, a MMORPG from the 90's that was a full loot rpg. The game is still played today, over 4/5 expansions by hundreds of thousands of players. If you can give the players run of the server, while allowing a balanced and strategic system of grind and teamwork you can help the players create their own communities within servers, which in fact will give them the hook and keep them coming back. Ive witnessed 40+ players go head to head over Npc loot spawns on that game, This game has the potential to top it by ten, And of course, solos can still thrive by ambushing loaded characters or good deeds of the larger clans. -

Age : 21 Dayz/Fps Experience : Dayz 1 month. (have played full loot pvp games for years, i know what to, and not to do.) 13+ years gaming, everything from mmorpg to fps, 3dps. started with Perfect dark, CS, Day of Defeat. Played years of clan battles on Socom. Run with a squad on Battlefield every week for the last 2 years, my tactics are solid. Been a pilot in every game you can fly on, solid kill history on Aces High 2 and BF3 for jets and helicopters. Played the armory to try a helicopter and its really simple to fly. Stalked and killed my first player in Dayz in my first hour. 1911 vs Aks-74 Why do you want to join? :A friend and I play as often as possible, we want to work towards more team oriented goals, gathering hordes of gear and parts, our ideal scenario would be to operate in a large clan of small groups that scavenge the server killing all hostiles and amassing an army of vehicles. Where are you from? : MA, USA How often do you play? : im a gamer, so if im not at work/with friends im online on one of 12 different games. I have a solid computer, built solely for gaming. I intend to run Fraps and make Videos of our adventures. Unfortunately i had $1200 worth of electronics stolen from me last month, my Tritton Pro headset was one of those items. So right now i can XBL party with anyone on XBL and ill have a PC mic by the end of the week. Edit: I have a friend who has more DayZ experience than me, and just as much gaming experience who will be following me to any clan i join, if you take me you take him too. -
oh, so a satchel charge can destroy buildings? Thats awesome!

Ran into my first hacker today. I was playing on a small server and was lucky enough to pick one where there was a hacker. Was crawling across a street when bullets came from the sky and rocked me. Would of sucked but it was a fresh life so i wasnt really dissapointed.

That's awesome! For the first time ever being swarmed like that.... it was intense. We had no idea where they were coming from, when we shot the first one it was one of 3 visible ones and a huge field. I'm glad everyone liked the story. The crazy thing is i have had the arma free version in the past but never had heard of DayZ. My friend told me about it a week ago and i started watching a ton of youtube videos. Watched people troll, run into hackers, lure zombies/players... Pretty much saw everyone's different strategies. Once i fixed the CMOS issues i was having i downloaded it and now im totally addicted. Having a friend definitely helps. We arent 100% hostile so if your in game and can follow a few simple commands well make sure we can part ways without breaking each others legs... I do believe i ran into some hacks though. As i don't know how the supermarket can turn to rubble.... and then go back to normal.... All in all i had a lot of fun and im excited to start hunting the noob trollers. Happy Hunting! Edit: I also have a strong computer and fraps. If anyone would like to team up, make some dual view videos just send me a PM. Unfortunately i do not have a PC mic yet.

First life ever loading up, joined a low populated server with a friend. We managed to scavenge up supplies and a couple weapons. Plenty of food, blood, and tools. we had a map and a plan to extract a friend spawned way too far away, then we headed out. Leaving elektro my buddy spotted on the map that someone else was off in the distance. I pulled out my binoculars that we had found only ten minutes before and scanned the power plant. sure enough i spotted a rifleman looking towards us. We got down, watched him for a moment. I knew he had spotted us so i told my friend to run for the tree line. Once he was in the trees i watched as the rifleman climbed down from the tower and headed towards us. I crawled out into some tall grass on a hill and watched him sneak his way around a zombie and head towards the tree line. My friend began flanking as i continued watching him. He was climbing the hill side scanning the horizon for us. To my astonishment he walked directly under the hill i was laying on. My buddy warned as he came close and i continued to watch him walk towards me without actually aiming at me. Again to my astonishment he stopped a mere 6 meters away in the crass, kneeling in the opposite direction. I arose from my grassy knoll aimed my 1911 at his skull, and blew him away with 3 swift shots. We rejoiced knowing that we had fooled our assailant and took our bountiful harvest. A nice Ak and 1911 for my friend. Alice pack, plenty of food and ammo and we headed off for our friend. We ran for about an hour and a half to meet up with a friend, we then armed him and headed off towards an airstrip. A sneaky zombie broke a friends leg and after the first shot rang out we had about 50 zombies on our hands. Needless to say i ran in a circle for about 10 minutes with anywhere from 20 to 40 depending on where i ran right on my heels. Somehow only one of us dies during this whole ordeal. We manage to shake off the horde of zombies with our hatchets and strategies. Then we decide to venture into Cherno.... While in the supermarket, the whole things explodes and collapses, were inside not damaged but freaking out... I step outside and the whole place returns to normal.... Then 3 swift shots are placed into my head. My first life lasted for around 4 1/2 hours. This game can become extremely intense in a matter of seconds.... i love it!
