  1. Spawn Suggestion: Map Orientated Spawns Always spawning on the coast brings the trolls. A suggestion to keep the bandit hoards and survivors happy; map orientated spawns. You don't have a map when you start and you have to work to get one. Until that time you continue to spawn on the coast and fight your way back to your previous locations. Bandits will target you still and it takes a lot of practice to get away clean, but the bandits will have their prey, until. . . Once a map is found you would then be able to choose your next (only) spawn location. However I am not simply talking about just picking a random location right in the middle of the military barracks. Only be able to choose: 1.A location you have visited 2.Your current location. If you are able to pick any place you have visited in the current life you are rewarded for your survivability. If you have to choose your current location you are forced to use better map reading skills. Simply scroll the mouse wheel and click current location on the map to make the programing easier. Note: -You can only do this once per life and can (cannot?) change it until you die. -It would only work with your map, if you give a map away you lose your spawn point. If they give it back they lose their spawn point and you have to visit that location again (no dupes). -For fairness the map would have to be lost if you die so that you cant set your spawn for a building, camp a building, loot your body if you die and rinse/repeat. Unless you stored an extra you would have to find another. So if someone were to go to the trouble of finding a plethora of maps they could troll that many times then go back to shore. Pros: -Bandits still have n00bs to troll until they can find a map and choose a location. -Survivors/explorers get rewarded with a solitary location to spawn and start again. Keep in mind they have to find a map again to reset the spawn. -Encourages having a team with a buddy that will hold a reserve map for you. -Great risk/reward system. -Not hard to program if you simply mark current location, harder if the server keeps track of where you have been. Cons: -Bandits will always set spawns next to high value military targets (but can only do it once =] ). -If looting Cherno you would have to remeber to reset spawn or risk teleporting to other side of map and losing your loot to your murderer. -Bandit teams will stockpile.

    anti riot shield & more

Don't call out a complete strangers post as worthless with a nice little (Christ) at the end if you don't want a response or argument. Truce. Knife is standard and useful for most FPS (survival or otherwise). Yes melee weapons, no for mace, tazers, riot shields (military grade stuff, there is plenty IMO) No need to point out the mace and tazers weren't covered in the thread.

I have found your button. =] Baseball bats for a century and a half as well, or spears! Thoughts? p.s. Chill out, you'll add years to your life.

Not every idea on this suggestion forum is fully original. A riot shield, and a "fast weapon" hunting knife. I'm sorry but you can't deny the reson for my hesitance. (Christ) *facepalm* And I corrected myself and said it could be handy for PvE (christ x 2)

Alright, to be fair the shield could be handy for non PvP encounters. Just seems to unrealistic to obtain. And COD like. =]

Foul for unnecessary facepalm. The last thing I want in a survival situation is a damn shield. IMO all that's needed are more civilian market weapons. Hunting rifles, handguns, shotguns, etc. It's not a horrible idea but if I ever see anyone with a shield coming towards me they will only get so far.

    Start with no backpack?

Start washed up on shore with nothing but a life-vest. No clothes or shoes, boys swinging to and fro. If you get attacked by zombies before you find clothes they make a small (or large) meal of your junk. You are distraught. Your character sobs hysterically for the remainder of your life. The second you find a weapon your character takes his own life. Respawn. Epic gaming experience If you get attacked by a bandit before finding clothes they capture and molest you. You are distraught. Once you are released you put on the first dress you find, walking the wasteland slapping yourself and calling yourself a "dirty whore." You spend the rest of your life turning tricks at the military barracks. Even more epic gaming experience. Standalone suggestion?

Knife yes, Riot Shield too much like COD. I would not carry a riot shield through the forest but maybe in the city with a partner.

    Start with no backpack?

Aren't we supposed to be washed up on shore? We didn't leave the house at all.

    Home-made attachments!

I agree only up to the point where you can attach/detach a flashlight (tac-light) or optic to your different weapons (rifle or handgun specific). No fixing or building weapons.

    Horses in Chernarus

Feels like Red Dead Redemption. With any of the Arma engines horses would look and move like robots. I can only imagine the broken bones that come from dismounting a horse or running into a tree or rock. But, not to be a total buzzkill it would be cool and usefull.
  13. Because there is no point in being in a survivor team right now. Organization has nothing to do with it. If your team gets attacked and some of them kill the other team members who haven't reached bandit status yet than they lose humanity. If we drop bandit and survivor status and simply allow people to pick skins for themselves or their teams, than the players and players alone show how they will play, as a bandit or hero. The game won't tag them as bandits, the other players on the server will. Just look at the leader board to see who is doing the most PK-ing and you will see who the bandits are. Look and see who aided the most players and you will see who could be a friend. You can then know who's who based on reputation.
  14. There is a time where there are too many health monitors on the right side. Otherwise this game becomes a sim for doomsday preps! What if everyone I go up to to socialize with kills me. Do I eventually go nuts for not being a successful socializer and lose all of my gear?

    Zombies spawn

"Abort" while being eaten/beaten by a zombie = Death, start over. "Abort" while being engaged by a survivor (unless you are able to evade and reach a certain distance from attacker) = Death, start over. Pick a better save spot if you don't want to wake up in the midst of 10 z's.

    Start with no backpack?

    It's a valid suggestion.

    Start with no backpack?

I'm almost positive it's been mentioned but definately seems more true to the starting survivor aspect.
  18. 'nuff said. Ammo being scarce does not matter. "Snipers gonna snipe", even if they don't loot your body. There has to be some perk for playing as a friendly hero type just as there needs to be some bandit perk to ensure balanced gameplay. Having a mental breakdown if you're bad and shrugging off stress if you're good does not make sense. I do agree with point 2, more "rogue" zombies in urban areas who do not dissapear when you bitch exit. That calls for teamplay.
  19. For the majority of weapons and ammo the idea that they sit in the open all the time is not the most realistic. I think adding foot-lockers, lockers, buildings with locked doors, and safes (maybe on the safes) would add a bit more realism, but not too much. =To get into a locker you must have a crowbar or tool kit. =To get into a locked house you must have a crowbar (or break a window, both of which are noisy). =To get into a safe you must use an explosive or combination (maybe on the combo, where would it be found?). =Increase the rarity of tools or crowbars or limit them to areas where vehicles spawn to limit availability and increase PvP interactions at these "hot-spots".. This will ensure the rarest weapons stay in the hands of the most prepared players. Also hospitals and military areas would have their medical supplies and equipment under lock and key anyway. Throw in the option of a possible alarm for break-ins (rare) which would send every zombie for a kilometer after you. Of course soda cans, food and water would be available as easily as they are now. This idea is not for all weapons, just the upper echelon or as a random encounter.

currency and gun dealer idea (not finished)

If you add a gun store you add a choke point for snipers to kill n00bs going into the door. Otherwise it is a safe area which goes against the spirit of the game. A mod bench to upgrade weapons would be sweet, however.

Player faction systems and faction bases.

Maybe something as simple as a clan patch or sleevlet on the uniform. There will no doubt be roving gangs with colors in any post-apocalyptic situations. Bases seem too much like safe areas for people to hang out in, but could make interesting raid situations. Faction system should only be based on who you team up with. Small groups.
  22. Not a fair argument as you have the whole internet way of thinking. Peolple grief, troll, and flame because they know they are immune to repercussion. So I will almost guarantee that 90% of people will end up PK-ing if the game stays as is. There is no perk to being good, no con to being bad. There is no reason to play as a team other than to camp n00bs and post "Let's Play" videos of it. I am not saying your character should sob if he kills someone, but something should be in effect. Maybe a Red Dead Redemption style wanted meter? Extra loot for killing a notorious bandit? Extra loot for killing high level heros? Otherwise this is a survival PvP game with zombies for background noise (which a survival PvP has it's own merits but Day Z is not meant for that).
  23. This may need to be moved to standalone suggestions, I apologize.
