Pretty much I'm going to say make zombies a bit weaker. Being hit 3 whole times by zombies that run faster than a cheetah is not acceptable. Hordes should be the threat. Not a single zombie killing you within 5-6 hits. It's irritating and makes being a new spawn with everyone and their mother playing cod trying to kill you almost impossible to get gear/loot or even run inland.

Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

Zombie spawning shouldn't be caused by players even for testing. He originally said he wanted them to all spawn over the map at once, not be spawned by players. It should be that way, and it should stay that way. Completely agree. -
I'm willing to bump this to page 1 to get this seen. I didn't write it for it to be looked over.

Agreed, it's accurate, I've shot quite a few. I still prefer my grandpas old bolt 22 tube fed mag over any 10/22.

Imagination maybe? Since through the game, details of the outbreak are not detailed. It does not say it's world spread, it does not say no help was offered, it does not say where it began. So by going by what my country, USA, always does when some country is in a shit storm of sorts, we show up, deem if its worth staying, stay or leave. Using my imagination, which currently the only available way to see any story behind DayZ that I've personally seen, the infection started in Chernarus. The infection spread at a slow rate at first. Military(s) were mobilized, set up bases in remote, coastal, and inland areas. The infection spread more quickly wiping out large cities first giving people there less time to respond, thus survivor loot. The infected people moved out toward the country and moved in on all those unsuspecting, inland airbases, remote military camps, small country side towns. The military(s), sustaining heavy losses deemed the area unfit for recovery and left in a hurry to keep alive those they could. You are a survivor. Through some lucky circumstances or pure ignorance you have either escaped till now the hordes of zombie-like infected people or ended up at Chernarus's coast. You must now continue to survive by any means necessary, either working together with other survivors, or trusting no one and gaining what you can through acts that can cause you lose your humanity. Survival begins with you. THAT, is what the prologue of the game is to me. To help you understand my way of thinking, I've typed it all out. Rocket has said in early previews of SA that he wants banditry(or murder) to have psychological effects on your character. So I think it's in view of what rocket has in view of this game.

I'd have to agree that a .22 would be amazing for the game, not only 10/22s though. I prefer bolt .22s myself. So 10/22 shuldnt be the only .22 available.

I say there should be a small amount of military weapons available due to world response of said outbreak. Many militaries would respond imo, not just Russia's. So the probability of "American" military weapons being there is likely. Though not in mass quantity.
-
Just because we're in America, doesn't mean we don't understand meters. Back of with your stereotyping. Weapons could become available to a country through the military if they deemed it necessary before they outbreak wiped everyone out. It doesn't just happen how you think it happened in your mind. Hunting rifles are made to be pinpoint accurate, otherwise it wouldn't be very good for hunting would it?

I shot a deer from the side of a mountain using a rock as a sturdy surface. If I ever get the opportunity, I will shoot from over 300m because I want a challenge and feel like I earned that deer. I don't shoot from stands like most hunters. 500m isn't super easy, but it's not stupidly hard with a little practice and a good gun. The round will travel 800m and have effective power regardless of the wind, that mostly just changes the direction, not punch power. I've shot a Mosin irl, it's super accurate, iron sights or no. Wind, no wind, it's practice, just like everything else. Don't try to tell me otherwise.

That... Would... Be.... Epic. Seriously. The solution you came up with would be amazing. Gauging could be done with say a made flag of sorts if you plan on waiting for hunting an animal. Assuming that this was implemented by the time or after animals and hunting was implemented. Which I honestly would see a realistic time frame if not longer as it wouldn't be a huge priority. I'm not sure gauging could be done with environment without rewriting a bunch of code, I'm no coder, just a guess. but maybe something you could place still a flag of sorts just in view.... hmmmm.

Actually, there was a mod in ArmA2 that had all of that, from what I heard. So it is possible.

I run up on 3 people with nothing but an axe, on my back even. 2 people with M4's who immediately start shooting. I axe one and he bitches, his buddy kills me. I respawn, Balota. I run to the tents again and knock the conscious one out with my fist, he begins to bitch as well. I take his gun and shoot him. A new guy runs up and axes me in the back. They proceed to argue that they are better, and playing the game properly by killing people on sight. That I'm the noob. I cannot see the logic. I down 2 people and they are better for killing a guy who only spawned 5 mins ago? Not in the world of Dayz. -Thoughts?
-
Learn to read, I didn't know they were there till I was in their face, nor did they know I was there. I had enough time to get my axe off my back and hit one, rendering him unconscious. Read the long version before you post.

I wasn't talking about me in the first place, I was talking about them. Sure they can play however they want, but it's not going to be fun when they have nobody to play with and there's nothing for them to do because they can't see past the killing aspect of the game.
-
I doubt it as well, but it would good if eventually it happened.

Had a lot of that on Epoch, we had a group of 12-15 players in Berezino with bases all over and invited people to attack us in groups as much as possible. Tons of fun, lots of strategy, made for an awesome time. 1000 yard no. Yes a standard zero to usually 200 yards. This is why I'm saying it would be good to able to zero the scope, windage, drop, among other factors. It would make sniping hard, and fun.
-
I'm sorry, I'd have to agree, I can nail a deer 300 m or so with an iron sighted 30-30 lever action right in the heart area with a decent spread. That was with no practice with the gun. 500+ gets harder in real life due to windage and conditions, but here we are currently only dealing with semi realistic ballistics, meaning gravity and travel time.
-
Every scope is made to be tuned to where it needs to hit. That's what sighting a scope in is for. A good shooter can make difficult shots with half decent equipment. However, I'm not sure if windage will be put into this game. I would love it... but that's just me. You realize the M24 rifle the military uses as a standard issue sniper rifle is a slightly modified Remington 700.... Besides that, a .22 is a great precision tool in the hands of someone who knows the .22s abilities. You are slightly ignorant and I cannot blame you for that about weapons, as most people are. But know that any rifle fitted with a proper scope can be a sniper rifle.

I'm not saying it should come with an optic, I don't mind if they are rare. I'm just saying that not everyone likes to get up close and personal. Me being one of those. I will if that't the gear I have, just not my preferred play style. And I'm not saying "Hey cater to me and my playstyle!" I just know there are others out there like me and don't want to always be point blank. I want rarity of all weaponry in general, just military more rare. Pistols should be preferred weapons imo. I love running around with my pistol. You say average, but human beings adapt. Remember, at some point, your character will learn(at least from what I've been reading on the forums). Don't deny the human ability to adapt and overcome. Original shooting techniques were learned from trial, error, practice, and most of all, necessity.
-
Tell me, if you plan on living long in game, or irl if you care to make the comparison... If you have the equipment and skills necessary to take a threat out as far away as possible rather than running up, which would you choose? Me personally, I will go with longer range and keep myself in as little danger as possible.

I don't want military gear to be crazy common, I voted for option 3. I do however think there would be M4's and M16's in the area as if there was a zombie something like that, the US would be there getting men killed. So there would be some. I prefer old bolt actions. The Mosin is great and should be there. AK's should take the place of many M4's, and bows/x-bows would be great. As for scopes.... One should have to sight them in, and I think they should be around, uncommon, but around. Weapon maintenance is easier than you all seem to think. 1 popped out pin in an M4 and it's apart ready to be cleaned. Bolt actions is just as simple, open the bolt, hold the trigger, bolt comes out. Objects needed to clean said weapons, rags+alchohol+small long stick = gun cleaning kit. Bingo, weapon can be decently cleaned. Don't over complicate weapons. I understand the M4 is a place holder, but I would have prefered an AK.

That's what my friends like to play on, and I like to play with my friends. It is also more fun to be able to get away from the coast without some douche killing me. All these people that are killing coasties all the time are just pissing off all the new players, killing the player base and want to play. I don't know how 90% of you can't see that it's happening that way. New players do understand it's meant to be a hard core zombie survival game, they expect survival. Not constant TDM with fully armed individuals/groups right after spawning.
-
I guess you're the only other one who knows he is running 2 anti-cheats. One of which being VAC. So under the assumption the second anti-hack is working fine, manual banning will be possible for Rocket to do. I honestly would prefer PB to BE. BE is crap imo.

Please make sure Zombies are fixed before you buff them.
Snipesrock replied to ThirdSinger's topic in General Discussion
What about making buildings a solid object for all dynamic parts of the game. Anything moving essentially. It seems like zombies are able to ignore objects in game. Other than that, zombies are perfect and just need better spawn rates and numbers. -
My kids are a year old, they play. I have to turn around to make sure they aren't getting into anything. I'll turn around no matter the situation. My situation awareness with zero distractions is extremely high. Anybody I play with can attest to that. I also stated I don't want flaming. I want thoughts on the players. Not my personal life.
