If you want the same ArmA 2 control settings, saved games, etc, you can copy the "ArmA 2" and "ArmA 2 Other Profiles" folders from "My Documents".

I haven't found any antibiotics since 1.7.6.1 with my public hive character and I only had a couple of stashed packs as of the 1.7.7 update. I'm not doing anything wrong ... that is borne out by the fact that the character is still alive from 1.7.6.1, fed, watered, armed, mostly on wheels of some sort and regularly traverses the map. Why no antibiotics? Randomness and low spawn rates I would guess. Every loot pile I have checked, every one, has had no antibiotics in, no matter type of building or its location. Similarly, I've only found one tent since 1.7.6.1 and that was inside a spawned UAZ jeep. Which I haven't fixed, not having found four wheels, four windscreens, an engine, scrap metal and a fuel tank yet. Randomness and scarcity could also readily explain how some players are cruising it and others are struggling to find what they need. It has nothing to do with the condescending and patronising crap spouted by fan boys, such as "adapt", or "live with it", or "sneak more" ... ad bloody nauseum. My player has survived a month without problems, DayZ is not difficult. The primary threat I have faced is from game problems, not other players, zeds, or the environment. Disappearing vehicles and tents, being spawned in with a vehicle on top of me ... narrowly escaped by proning ... and appearing in debug land with an empty inventory ...recovered by logging out and back in thankfully. I'm playing on public hive, so ... unless there is something wrong behind the scenes with the public hive or server build that we aren't being told ... it should be exactly the same as every other public hive server. N'est pas? This isn't a complaint about the situation per se, but simply stating that it is what it is. However, it is not particularly entertaining and I tire of the blind followers, loot-lucky and also perhaps liars, gushing that nothing is wrong.

Whatever you have or have not done to end up banned by Battleye, is not my concern, but I can believe that people fall for running key stealers. The fact that BE kicks and bans many legit players is beside the point and plenty of others have been duped into running that single player malware. As for there being no such thing as single player DayZ, that is only true for a ready-to-play package. It shows how little others know, or are willing to help, when everything is readily available to make a DIY version to play using private hive server builds. A vanilla (not modified) Chernarus build is no different to what everyone else plays on the public hive, it is just installed on your own hardware. Why not set up your own private hive dedicated server on your own PC, but don't connect it to, or set up Battleye. Password it, or set up a whitelist, or keep it offline. Then join your own server on LAN and sandbox away. That is single player ... in fact, that is what many multi-player games do in single player mode ... run a local server and join it with a client. Depending on how powerful your PC is and how much bandwidth your internet connection has, you could configure your server to connect to the internet and invite some mates on. Sound hard? Its not. Having to put some effort to learn some simple geeky stuff is what many people wrongly call "difficult". Need a racked box the price of a car to run it? Not likely, I use a laptop. Play single player or keep the number of players low and it should run ok. All a DayZ private hive server consists of really, is another copy of ArmA 2: OA running without graphics and a small SQL database.

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
rn_max replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oops .. must have used too many big words. Vanilla DayZ ... that's the mod played on public hive servers ... has not become harder. It has started to become boring. MMO grinding ... that is repeatedly visiting loot spawns over a long period, in this case to see what has appeared by random chance ... is not very entertaining ... which loosely translates as is not fun. Being entertained by something that is difficult, means that it presents a challenge, requiring skill and reasoning to largely affect, if not completely achieve, an outcome. Being bored by something perceived as difficult, when it actually is not, by contrast, means that the outcome relies mainly on random chance and blind persistence, rather than skill and reasoning. People with real lives, such as employed adults, have other things to do in a typical day, which are more important. These mysterious real life priorities prevent them from playing several hours of a game in one session, or indeed sometimes several sessions. Believe it or not, the vast majority of money spent on games comes from those employed adults, in one way or another, A whole generation of them grew up with the beginning of computer games and still play them today. Suck this horrible last thought up ... in less than a generation or so, there will be more grey haired gamers than spotty kids. The first generation of gamers have long since grown up and so must games ... that is if they want to maintain the size of their customer base. -

Making the mod super hard is the wrong way…
rn_max replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ ... correction ... Vanilla DayZ, isn't too hard, it is just haemorrhaging entertainment value. The whole game experience has gone past a tipping point where it lacks interest and requires life sapping amounts of time to draw achievement from. The uneven randomness and scarcity of mundane loot and vehicle parts is turning it into a dull, long winded, MMO resource farm 'n' grind, where a roll of the digital dice decides whether, for example, no tent spawns for a week, or eight spawn in one supermarket. Overtly time consuming and wildly random doesn't equal difficult, it equals boring. The whole advantage and appeal over a typical WoW clone MMO was that it had persistence without having to expend weeks of subscription milking, grinding time to gain a sense of achievement. There is already a wealth of choice for those who desire reiterative simulation of tediousness ... Trucks Railways Farming Fishing Gardening Courier Service Street Cleaning Zombie survival does not belong on this list ... no, really, it doesn't. -

why isnt there more push bikes in dayz ?
rn_max replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree bicycles should be more common in game. The different wheel part is a good idea as well. Perhaps bikes should have an inventory slot or two representing a bag rack, but a weapon slot? No way! Have you tried attaching a rifle sized object to a bike securely and safely then riding it? Not likely, its bad enough just shuttling a track pump across a field on race day. Are you kidding? 70 km/h isn't that difficult in real life, Chernarus has some crazy hills and DayZ's old bikes are notoriously unstable at that speed, which is also quite authentic. In game I managed about 80 km/h flat out and it was completely nuts, so I held the (convincingly awful) brakes forever and it still took ages to stop, amazingly enough unharmed. Back in the real world, my personal best was 104 km/h in the Eilat mountains, on something significantly more advanced and expensive than the DayZ bone-shaker. That wasn't even close to the records though ... http://en.wikipedia....Cycling_records Yes! More bicycles please. -

Explained humour simply isn't. You're not loitering under a bridge, by any chance? -
Nah, what he said was, "we have a weak window", which will inevitably delay development, at least until the frame is replaced.

Forget satchel charges! Forget the Bauermeister! Failing to meet the unreasonable demands of a horde of internet dwelling gamers? Participating in the destruction of the mother tongue of hundreds of millions, by public perpetuation of Kiwinglish? There is only one punishment heinous enough for his dreadful crimes. Thus, every day the release of DayZ SA is delayed will result in the airing of an episode of: Beached Az, no less ... starting now with the original "Beached Whale" as a shot across the bows  -

Will the new map add anything interesting to see other than Cherno and Elektro?
rn_max replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is nothing of interest outside of Elektro and Cherno and everybody who thinks so is most welcome to stay there. -
Better performance, but at what cost?
rn_max replied to Felixthefriendlycat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ArmA 2 DayZ looks pretty good on a high end machine, apart from the game breaker mid distance terrain lod textures, which resemble MS Flight Sim 2004 pixel scenery. From a distance of 200 - 500 metres, it truly can look like playing on a potato. Some players run low settings because much of the terrain cover becomes useless, as they simply do not see it. -
The crowbar goes into the primary weapon slot over the top of whatever you are already carrying, which reappears when the crowbar is removed. It has had that behaviour for ages and if the hatchet could be modified to do the same it would be great.

If you could revenge kill the first guy who spawn killed/betrayed you in this mod...

Lollerskates! Betrayed whilst banditing, that's funny ... was any other outcome likely? -

I wouldn't want to kill them. Instead amend the hive so that they could only ever spawn on incurable almost zero health, with all the side effects like super blurry vision and blackouts. -
I think the hardest thing to do in DayZ...
rn_max replied to Blippy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The hardest thing to do in DayZ ... is to visit the forums knowing it will sour even the best of in game experiences, when you inevitably read yet another feckless e-pissing contest. Perhaps the contributors are also the players that are so hard to trust :P -
So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1
rn_max replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
At last ... quattro_ger is slowly, but finally, understanding the problem that some of us reasonable players are posting ... we are not complaining about features being too hard, but we are posting feedback about features being broken and/or unbelievable. Shame it has taken a Tolstoy novel to get even this far. Some of us are in the middle ground, where reason and compromise live. We are not complaining to have features made easier ... but we are not blinkered fanboys who blindly defend what is implausible or bugged either. -

To Everyone Complaining About 1.7.7
rn_max replied to NovaDose's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ah, more polarised pissing and noise generation. Somehow I doubt it will help decide who is more right, but it is quite apparent who is pissing the hardest all over the forums like an angry little dog. -

rn_max replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For those who are too stupid/lazy/ignorant to even remember one page of posts back in this topic ... there was a lost voice of reason explaining that the zed nerfing was unintended. But ... hey, don't let an explanation get in the way of a polarised pissing contest for attention deficit noise generators. Yawn ... I'm sure the voice of reason was thoroughly tired of death by drowning long ago.
