I don't give a rat's arse about KoS, shoot until your mouse button wears out. The problem I have is with the stupidly implausible amount of guns and ammunition, which should be much less common than the current deluge of firepower laying around everywhere. Most players should be duking it out with melee weapons and throwing rocks at each other. That's more like a bloody apocalypse, rags to wear, scraps of food, pointy sticks. -

I honestly couldn't say for sure about letting server admins decide. They don't tend to mess things up much settings wise on the public hive, but then there isn't that much to mess with anyway. Private hives are a non-issue of course and they tend to modify what they don't like regardless. As for the actual spawn locations, please don't ruin Berezino with any. Solichniy is far enough. Reaching the fair city of the north east should be a reward, not a starting gift. -
Keep 'em all in, many people have no problem with that, just seriously cull the numbers. Let me see, a dozen or so military sniper weapons in the Chernarus map area should be sufficient ... across the entire DayZ hive, not per server.

Just make all sniper weapons ultra-rare and limited to finite numbers across the hive. Ta-da ... non-problem solved. Like the world is teeming with scoped rifles anyway :rolleyes: The scope is only actually fitted so that the user can see what he is peeing with.

You can also set up your own private hive server install and host it on your own PC, then play on that without connecting to the internet. Something like a pwnoz0r or reality build should be fairly straightforward. You will need a connection to get the server build files in the first place, which aren't much bigger than the DayZ client download.

At the moment? Zoombies, aka DayZ for ArmA 3. Quite an achievement getting it to run at all, let alone having as much functionality is it does. -

Drastically reduce the ridiculous amount of guns and ammunition in game. You can't fire what you don't have. Don't want people mistaking this zombie sandbox survival game for a badly disguised military first person shooter, do we? Alternatively, socially cleanse the player base of people likely to shoot others in a first person shooter game, by imposing a long ban for achieving bandit status. Though just as likely to reduce KoS, perhaps option one would be simpler to implement and less likely to be commercial suicide for a developer of first person shooter games. -

Not quite any of the poll options ... I'm steadily playing less DayZ as time goes on. However, that is not because the game concept has become less appealing. I have simply given up on the broken nature of so much in the game itself, which has accounted for the vast majority of my deaths and setbacks this year.

What's not to like? Concealment and less aggro. Hatchet primary for zed work and the G17 rules as a night sidearm ... also useful for blinding NVG wearers. -

I would go back to 1.7.6.1 for one reason ... the infection. It is always lethal, kills in 4000 seconds and the only cure is antibiotics, which are a total crap shoot to find. I don't care if the game is difficult, but infection is not even difficult in a solvable sense. It is a clumsy and poorly implemented mechanism dressed up as difficulty, which only provides a challenge to a player's will to plod on in an MMO loot farming exercise until randomness spews out what is required. There is nothing challenging, puzzling, or even entertaining about endlessly sniffing every spawn until the right loot appears, I just spent four days game time infected, actively chasing any method of a cure again, rather than deliberately dying as I have done for a while now. It was a dull, MMO-like food farming exercise, which I am not going to repeat again. Nothing else worked, be it tent rest, other meds, warmth, only boiled water, combinations of those, all the while chasing and eating half the livestock in Chernarus. After dying, blind luck eventually spewed out some antibiotics ... on the first day of my new spawn. Hello randomness. Thanks for not providing anything remotely entertaining. I could get equally skill-less dull repetition from World of Warcraft ... but don't want to. I've not given up reiterating my stance on infection, but hold little hope of improvement and am playing continually less vanilla DayZ. This one feature can so easily cancel out all the marvellous entertainment from the rest of the mod. People are "complaining" less because they simply have more entertaining things to do with their game time and are playing something else. I am somewhat more persistent than that and believe DayZ is still great without this clumsy mistake sat in the middle of the game. -
Second TheLastEmp's comment on bandaging. It would take three bandages to stop bleeding not waiting for the animation to finish. As you were playing on LAN then lag was unlikely to be a problem. If that was a viral infected you encountered, they can take several body shots or melee weapon hits to drop, but one head shot will still do the trick. Firing a DBS will bring every zed within about 90 metres aggroing in to find the noise source.

Stary Sobor MASH tents, NWAF barracks, the heli crash belt ... they all yield antibiotics, just dependent on blind luck. From my experience, I've mostly found them in military loot spawns, otherwise only once in a cow shed. I recently died after four days of infection, eating and cooking tons of livestock to survive. but crashed the dirt bike chasing my next meal ... on the way to trade for some AB's no less. Day one of my new adventure I find a heli crash with FOUR packs. Go figure. EDIT: Lolz at TerribleFate ... is that a trick question?
