A Threat To Banditry Itself, And A Solution.
CyanidC replied to Caesar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's an interesting Idea the survivors have, doesn't mean this is a good idea, we're bandits, the mindset of a camper and backstabbing-liquid instead of blood. I'd kill anyone without hesitation even if i or they said "friendly". I can find 2 major flaws with his plan to form an "organisation" 1. We're bandits, if i see a teammate that has a better weapon, i'll kill him for it and blame someone else while looting some other peoples backpacks. We're opportunists in the most purest form. 2. Survivors already group up to kill and hunt bandits, if we start forming an "organised system" we'll be without trust, survivors trust eachother because, they don't kill, we do and that means we'd kill any bandit aswell.(i atleast would) and that would create instabillity. they'd just pick us appart while we try and fight back. going face to face isn't most bandits style, as said mindset of a camper, i once waited for 2 hours in Berenzino on a hill with a winchester, to lucky-shot some kid that was packing an AS50 and his friend with an M4A3CCO. Bandit strength doesn't lie in number(like survivor strength does), bandit strength lies in cunning, positioning, weapon skill and a bit of luck. -
Hey guys, My new Let's Play vid is up, even though it's not DayZ i thought you guys might be interested. Here's the Link to my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/GreyGearsGaming

I became a bandit because every starter weapon has the potential to give you a better weapon, all that stands between you and your new gun, is the guy who is carrying it. So, in a sense, i became a bandit because it's fun and because i think it's more exciting getting your gear through a firefight.

i call it Instant-Karma.

much appreciated.

uuhh, thanks i guess but since i'm swiss, playing on an US-server will give me a +130 to +160 ping and that comes with it's own set of problems.

Try patching down to an older version of the Arma2 beta build (NOT THE DayZ BETA! THE ARMA ONE) and then try to join a server that still runs on that older build, if it works, log out again and restart your DayZcommander, patch up to the newest version again and try to join a server of your choice again. I'm not 100% sure if this will fix it or if i just had pure, dumb luck with that, but it fixed my Error Code 41 and as far as i know, 38,41 and 45 are all caused by the same main problem.

1.7.4.4 Script restriction errors #38, #41, #45 etc
CyanidC replied to quatre's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey guys, Using the "Patch to a previous Arma2 beta" worked for me as a temp fix, but i had a hunch. Reading up on some stories of people, what they were doing while they got kicked made an idea form in my head, it was more of a hunch really, but i tried it out and now i can play on Up-To-Date Servers again without getting kicked (so far atleast, don't take it as a fix just because it worked for me) Here's what i did. -Patch down to the second latest Arma 2 beta version. -log into a server and play for a bit -log out and restart your DayZcommander (i do not know if this works on SixLauncher) -patch up to the latest version again -cross all your fingers and toes that it won't kick you (this one is optional) -enjoy the game again As for WHY this works, i have not the slightest idea or clue. My guess is that the serverfilter-scripts somehow got messed up with the patch(1.7.4.4 and the newest arma2 version) and that the servers see any change in your character (becomming a bandit/hero, changing clothes or stuff like that) as a "violation" and thus restrict you from accessing those changed files. By playing/saving on an "underpatches" server, you get access to those files and the change happens on the server that isn't on the newest versions and when you patch up again, the latest-patch servers won't recognize it as a "change" anymore, but as a constant that has always been like that. I've tested this on 3 different latest-version servers and i didn't get kicked, didn't lose any of my progress or gear and can play again completely normal. Of course this is also just a temporary fix i guess, if it is one at all, but honestly, it can't hurt to try :) This is ofc for the players, not the Server Admins. -

because it's plain bad. As Tzugaris said, tofu has more spice in it than your story. It's so boring i had to force myself through every line and it took me about 3 tries to finish this carboard equivalent of a story. -The characters are everything but 3-dimensional, they're not even 2-dimensional. they're a dot in the boring sky you painted with that piece. None of them matter, none of them have anything interesting about them. -Your phrasing is as dull as it could be, honestly, you're either 10-14 years old and this is your first attempt on writing a story, or English isn't your first language. If this is your first story, you have lot's of improving to do and you have the solid ground to do so. If this isn't your first story or your second or your third, you should consider either changing the audience or stop writing at all. -The Pace was awfull, it was like being forced to walk on a treadmill that is on a too fast setting for just walking. My advice to you: -improve your english(if it's not your first language) -find more interesting words, go read some books or just look up words in a Thesaurus -Read more books -Read more books -write shorter stories, but thicken the plot

Battleye Script Restriction #41
CyanidC replied to georgabl@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Same here, it started today, instantly after i killed some other survivor, does that have something to do with it maybe? -
I've reached a new level of butthurt today. The shit has hit the fan. Event 6 Today i was raiding Elektro, after finally having found an M24 and other nice gear in Stary, I went towards the huge office-building in the center of Elektro and there were no signs of another player, lucky me i have a good headset, as i climb the ladder on the building-side i hear the sound of an M1014 reloading. I quickly went for the next ladder and went on top of the building, i could hear the other guy walking around beneath me, so i was lying there, waiting for him to come up or leave. After about 2 minutes of him running around inside he took to the streets, i scoped, zeroed in and as he entered the supermarket across the street, i started firing, he took 3 shots to the lower torso and died. He had a coyote backpack and probably some other nice stuff i really wanted but, the moment i killed him, i got kicked from the server. Why you ask? there was an error-message showing on my screen: You were kicked from the server: Script Restriction #41. I tried and reconnected but it wouldn't let me, neither on any other server. After a pc restart i tried again and spawn back at the coast, all my loot gone. I instantly disconnected and tried another server, where i still had all my loot but, 1 second after i loaded in, i get kicked again. "You were kicked from the server: Script Restriction #41." So not only did i make a valuable kill, i also nearly got a heartattack from losing all my gear, but when trying to log back onto an other server, i have everything but can't play because i instantly get kicked. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!

Then don't call yourself a bandit and go sit with the other boring people in the Survivor HQ.

New one, happened yesterday before i started recording for my LP. Event 5 I was in Stary Sobor, still packing my M4A3 CCO and was about to loot the tents, when i noticed that there was already advanced zombie-spawn in town. I knew i was not alone, after a quick search i see some dude named "Johannes" standing on the hill, i think he was alt+tabbed or aiming through the scope of his AS50 since he didn't notice me at all, at a good 50 meters distance (enough to trigger the combat timer) i started firing short bursts into his chest, looking foreward to having that nice AS50. When he didn't even flinch after the first 5 hits, i started getting suspicious, so i aimed for the head, 5 more bullets straight to the brain. No reaction other than him finally turning around and starting to move away from me, he saw me and i figured it wasn't worth dying for this, so i ran and dove into a bush, behind a small stone wall, keeping my eyes peeled. He wasn't following me, he wasn't even shooting or doing anything, he was just... Gone. Now keep in mind that he still had to have ATLEAST 15 seconds on the timer, i looked at mine and seeing as it should've started for both of us at the same time i was fairly confused. To cut a long story short, on a server with only 5 people, i encounter 1 of them in Stary and he's not only invincible, but also immume to the combat-timer and i wasted atleast 10 bullets for absolutely nothing that day. Sure hackers can be nice people and give away free stuff for everyone, but it's nontheless ruining the game for everyone else around them since they still have an advantage. Sure, it's definitly less bothersome than some 12 year old with infinite health that doesn't even need your loot, but just kills you and mocks you because it makes him feel all tingly in his nether-regions...

New Episode as promised! :D

Hey DayZ forum people, Since i started posting my vids here, i've had a bit more traffic on my channel and i'm really thankfull for that! Here comes the but; Even though my channel's traffic increased, there hasn't been any commenting, any thumbs up or subs, I don't expect you to instantly sub, but i'd appreciate if you'd hit that "Thumbs Up" button if you like what i do and if you have 13-14 minutes to watch my vids, you also have 30 more seconds to drop me a comment with feedback, I'd REALLY appreciate that :) alrighty then, that's that. Next episode will be up tomorrow somewhere around evening (GMT+2) Till then, good luck Survivors! CyanidC

stupid question, but you're the bandits here, so...could you?
CyanidC replied to thodouras95's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
depends on if he's a threat to me or if he packs any loot i want. There are no friendlies to a bandit. I only trust my real life friends to be at my side in this game. -
New Episode live.
-
new footage is recorded, about to edit and upload :D
-
that is frustrating. I had to avenge 2 of my friends who got instakilled before i even knew what was going on and ended up dead myself, while some kiddie with no balls took my L85A2, one of the rarest rifles in the game :(
-
Music is nothing i'd want playing in the background while in game, it's distracting and hinders me hearing everything, that my 7.1 Surround-sound headset else would reveal to me.
-
I had the same experience once, you can read up on it in my thread, but here's the TL;DR version: >be on a rooftop, guarding my ladder >guy beneath me >he comes up, i sink 3 L85A2 bullets into his head, he does not die >he comes up again and i shoot 2 full mags into his torso and head, no reaction >i get killed in an instant So yeah, i believe you had an encounter of the subhuman kind.
