Everyone does that when playing games. Forced comm all time through the game isnt going to work. Ed: Plus hearing all kind of noises coming from surrounding players can be more annoying than immersive.

[Suggestion] Squad, group or gang member identification
Tourdion posted a topic in General Discussion
One of the biggest problems of Dayz is knowing who is who in a given situation, so I propose a system that can help to keep track of your squad members without being immersion breaking like for example nametags. The system itself is pretty simple; you only need a backpack or raincoat and a marker or a spray paint can. A custom image can be imported into the game and crafted into a template that can be traded (so you can provide the same ID to your friends, for example) and applied to that piece of gear. Only small images can be used, and only black and white. This system can be used for the creation of different gangs, organizations or even factions, allowing players to recognize fellow members and providing some incentive to group and cooperate. Here a rough example: -
[Suggestion] Squad, group or gang member identification

Oops, i missed the second one when searching. My bad, lol. -
Hm...not sure, really. If you are on a bike and can go 3d person you may peek over walls and spot people who is moving through a town or freelook around like you are using a periscope. Anyway, if they decide to go first person all the way ill be happy if i can drive a vehicle without feeling like a wooden mannequin with a camera attached to its head. Edit: Tho 3rd person may be necessary to land helis and such now that i think about it
-
Before removing third person they need to polish first person mode a bit. Im waiting until vehicles are added, in the mod when riding a bike for example, your view in first person bounced up and down like crazy due the stiffness of the character. If they fix details like this first person will be a more enjoyable experience overall.

dayz Error: Device reset failed, error 8876086c
Tourdion replied to iAwesome's topic in General Discussion
I have that error because im running XP atm, but i just changed the options in cfg file. Are you running Dayz in compatibility mode for xp? I did read something in the forums about that causing that error in windows 7. -
Bring back weapon lengths obscuring your movement indoors.
Tourdion replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Instead of restricting movement, it may be better if the character raises the weapon to avoid collision with the wall or objects. I've seen that in another games and it seems to work well. It puts you in a disadvantage if you have to turn 360º you cant use the ironsights and must wait until the weapon is leveled to aim. -
I go to the beach to find players with flashlights on, step into the light fully geared, look at them for a few seconds and then salute and continue running. Also dying of dehydration at some forsaken place.
-
I put the map on a quick access slot and then pressed the key to activate it. It worked for me.
-
Nah, it will be easier to navigate indoors in the dark when they add the chemical lights. (or when they polish a bit the flashlight holding animation) I think hes just talking about the general clunkiness of the game when walking inside houses xD tho thats expected to be changed in the long run.

The first person mode only could allow some exclusive features that dont make sense in third person mode, like blindfire. So i think it sounds promising.

Today i met the stupidest squad
Tourdion replied to krihelion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What freedom No such thing in this game. Everyone has to play the way bandits want. There's no suspense. You just have to live alone far from everything or go to the populated places to ambush people. Its easier just not trust anyone and shoot, and many people just enjoy pissing off others because you cant do nothing to avoid it. -
We shouldnt forget that the mod is a testing field for the standalone. Zombie behavior is hard to balance in the mod, but experimenting will help to improve the standalone experience. Call me an optimistic, lol.

I wouldnt include options to climb higher buildings except ladders. i prefer players having the same movement options from the beginning.

Who is loving the new update for Namalsk?

Do bloodsuckers glitch through walls? -
I think jumping in the middle of a firefight -making your character crouching, jumping a short distance just to crouch again- seems quite counterproductive, that is not going to save your life. When i mean jumping, i mean a slow jump that takes effort and time, not an instant levitation effect like we can see in most games. When i think about adding this kind of interactions, i think in time spent acting as a balance factor, avoiding easy exploits like bunnyhopping and putting the player in a great disadvantage if done at the wrong time. *shitty 5 minutes drawing* In the second example the guy has fallen from a short height and he will need some valuable seconds to recover, ready the weapon and start moving again. he can be killed pretty easily if hes not careful, because he cant react in time if bullets start flying. Same with normal jumping, climbing or vaulting, like in the first image. You can run from zeds, but you will be vulnerable to other players. -edit- Vaulting like that probably will deplete your stamina very quickly, leaving you room for only one or two of these actions. (specially if you are sprinting already.)

promote walking (will be unpopular of a suggestion)
Tourdion replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I undestand the reasons why is this being suggested, but I think that slow players will just become easy prey for bored snipers and pot shot lovers. -
jumping IRL requires taking impulse, and in game that could translate in a quite lenghty animation. you normally need to sprint to jump horizontally over a space btween 2 surfaces, falling from some height would require your character crouching or rolling upon landing to absorb the impact, and you need to crouch and take impulse to climb a wall for example, or a friend to help you climb. Bunnyhopping is just a cheap mechanic put in place in games to add more movement options without having to work on it too much. New and realistic ways to perform diverse actions that add deep to the gameplay are always welcome. -edit- Forgot to mention that jumping and climbing requires a lot of stamina, specially when encumbered.
-
You dont need to be a bandit to do that. you can hunt someone because he has killed a friend, or you just may enjoy killing bandits. I am not a bandit because well, what are bandits in this game? people that takes advantage of the mod limitations to kill people for fun. Actually being a "bandit" is easier than anything else, because you only need to a- read side chat b- camp any high traffic low level zone c-kill any unarmed players you see d- betray everyone who wants to team up Voila, you are a bandit. 0 effort.

Shotgun damage should be instant kill, and potential for multiple kills.
Tourdion replied to JimJam (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well, never shot anyone with the DB, but i agree that shotguns in general need some rework. PS: wonder why they didnt put the Saiga in dayz, it could make a nice alternative for those who like shotties. -

Tourdion replied to JimJam (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Uhm...according to Dayz wiki, the pellet ammo does 2000 blood for each pellet, it fires 8 of them, and im pretty sure that i killed more than one zombie at once with pellets when they are quite close to each other. with that damage a shitload of pellets will just obliterate anyone in one shot. link here http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Double-barreled_Shotgun -
Would you quit if servers went expert?
Tourdion replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If they remove the bobbling when driving some vehicles im ok with that. (riding a bike offroad in first person makes me feel sick) -
Still, since Dayz is more focused on ambientation and "feeling" the life of a survivor than Arma 2 real combat simulation, good animations could give the game a beautiful touch. True, its the empty clip. They decided to apply the Rule of Cool, though. I'll give that a try for sure.

What are the three things you want to be in Standalone?
Tourdion replied to Inception.'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
-More movement and situational interaction options: realistic jumping, ability to climb (with help from another player to climb a wall for example), kick doors, using windows as alternative way to enter or escape a building...the list goes and goes on xD. -Better, realistic and intuitive melee system. -Better throwing mechanics (ability to hold and throw grenades or let them go, like extending your arm and dropping one from a rooftop to the street, for example) -
Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
Tourdion replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
i First of all i really hate the "magic backpacks" that swallow entire rifles leaving no trace, and once you want to switch they appear magically again in your hands, already mounted and ready to fire. Aiming that weapons is a matter of practice, I guess. Even if you are familiar with weapons, for example loading and firing an AS50 for the first time you can jam the weapon if done incorrectly (im not a weapons specialist, so IDK how that shit works lol). Some weapons, if left in the open for a few days in a rainy climate may be in really bad shape, let alone electronic components. If you want to carry like 3 rifles you need a vehicle, for example. When firing, we should take in account the situation, where the character is a survivor, a guy that barely stays alive eating cans of food and staying in the open for days, cold and wet. Actually you can carry your glorious arsenal of death and stay under the rain popping heads until you are tired...trying to fire an antimaterial rifle with pinpoint accuracy doesnt sound like the easiest thing to do under such circumstances. Just my small grain of sand.
