    Just throwing this in to this post ... double tapping "Y" makes a gun shot sound that can be heard by other players but not you ... though it doesn't actually fire a round.

Hopefully my relink of the "tool" didn't make it so everyone see's Florida when they click it lol. If so, just click "change your location" on the bottom of the right box.

    Yes, have you never looked back over your shoulder while hiking / running / etc? It's not a full 180 degrees but you can do it ...

    Or asking on the games' forum, which is what I did. Though I appreciate the seemingly half-cocked response to my question...they don't need defending - I just had a question. And as mentioned PUBG has no issues binding auto run, free look, and emotes to a controller. I realize everything that goes in to controlling DayZ on mouse and keyboard so I'm sure it's a big task to get this all working on controller - but those options are a big part of the game - not having them implemented from Test Day 1 for Xbox is just silly. Have a source for that information by chance?

    Would be cool but I doubt it. I figured they'd just be getting more of my money so just a few people can work on this title yet again. What I'm hoping for is that a ton of people buy this game on console and Bohemia finally gets the game the resources it needs to become a complete and finished version - quickly. I've been playing DayZ since the mod was first released as well. We rented our own server back in the day, whitelisted it and modded it all out - anyone remember "Candy Mountain" :). I purchased Arma 3 just to play better versions of the various mods and even picked up the Standalone before my PC crapped out. I came across the news that this was coming to console just a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. But the fun for us was building (big walled in bases), boating, flying and trading in the mods (chainsawing down trees for wood and other fun gathering that was in the mods and working perfectly years ago), huge firefights etc., and from what I've read, this version, like the standalone - is still so far away from what was created by gamers modding Arma 6 years ago that everyone is still concerned about the final product. I'm just crossing my fingers that this will be what we're hoping it will be - and that it becomes that idea sooner rather than later - I want it to succeed.

    Ummm wow really? Is there an autorun key as well or is that missing too ... this will be terrible for the players if you can't autorun and watch your back at the same time as you run 30 minutes across the map. Hopefully they'll just use the pubg button mapping if it's been an issue figuring out how to assign them for some reason. Why would this be missing?

    Equipment of departure ( bad idea)

    This is kind of a throwback to when the DayZ mod was first released and I like the idea of this. You start off with a Makarov on the shore and hope to get out of the city. It also gave you something to fight back with against the kitted players that have been on the server for a while and that will be farming the shoreline for noobies eventually. The joy of winning a firefight against a kitted player with just the starting pistol was awesome.

    This would be a bad change IMO. Sitting around the campfire with friends before logging out was a fun aside and helped with immersion.
  12. Note on me, I've been playing DayZ Mod / Arma2 for a few years in all of it's various forms and map locations. I've been playing Arma3 as well, mostly Island Life and Wasteland. WIth that said, I purchased the SA finally this weekend thinking I'd give it a shot. And well, I can't for the life of me, melee freaking zombies in this version of the SA or really evade them at all ... and my buddy whom I play with is having all of the same problems. So my questions are these: What's the best way to kill zombies with melee weapons / fists? I'm not sure if it's due to lag, or what, but I've tried just about every melee weapon there is and cannot kill a zombie. I hit them on the head (or what appears to be the head area - not sure of the hit box) and have only killed 2 zombies in many play sessions and both of those were with my fists and literally strafing circles around them for 5 minutes.... what's the trick - where do you aim (the head? because it doesn't seem to be working)? What's the best way to evade zombies? I have been trying to play where I shift / crouch walk most of the time and it seems that no matter what I do. If I'm behind bushes, a trees, etc (basically obscuring LOS) zombies still see me from 100+ yards away if they are at all looking in my direction and come at me. I've tried the old - run fast to trees and bushes and then crouch walk out the other side and that seems to have worked about 2/20 times. I seem to have better luck when I can find a two story building as zeds will occasionally glitch out when trying to go up stairs. Of course they run right through walls I climb under, pop right through doors I close, etc etc ... Clouds seem to go in all directions, is the old West to East trick gone? Haven't paid attention in A3 how they flow. Is there a decent way to find North now? Have any other tips for the Standalone Noobs out there? Thanks!

    Couple of Questions about Zombies Etc

    Welp, didn't die last night! Did everything the same as I've been doing ACCEPT ... I had a fire axe and I didn't aim where the dot was, I aimed where it seemed that the axe was in the physical space when swinging it ... so that's the game changer I guess. With this epiphany, I'd have to say that some major tweaking of melee weapon damage and hit boxes needs to be done. ;) Thanks for the tips guys!

    Right on guys, thanks for the bits of info. Between your comments and the reading over those couple of posts I found, I guess it's just the current state of affairs in-game. Zombies were buffed and my lag / server side hit registration are likely the culprits as I'm probably getting body shots even though it looks like head shots. I'll try varying where I hit the Zeds and I'll just have to run like the wind when the eagle eyed Zeds come at me from 100+ yards away while I'm already crouching behind a bush ... that, or I'll continue my circle strafing around them until I figure out where on my screen I have to hit them. Any other tips / tricks?

    Thanks for the tips, I'll try to aim above or to the side of where their heads are tonight and see if that works. I did notice that I can shift crouch right past some Zeds - 5 meters or less sometimes, and others just come flying at you from 2 football fields away - 28 days later style. For finding North you mention the sun. Does it rise in the East and set in the West in the SA? Haven't had a compass yet to check. Thanks
  18. Anyone have a good Epoch server that is actually trying to create a DayZ environment rather than an Arma Wasteland environment? I realize with AI missions etc there will be some vehicles with weapons etc, but MBTs, BMPs, etc with launchers and HE rounds change the gameplay to Wasteland not Dayz in my opinion ... even with indestructible bases. Don't get me wrong that's fun ... but I'd rather be playing Arma3 Wasteland than Arma 2 Epoch Wasteland that most servers have become. We already have a base on a server that is in Stage 3 of their Militarization, so now you've got RPGs, MBTs, Jets, Apaches, laser designators, admins spawning in vehicles for themselves with full ammo etc ... So a few of us are looking to play DayZ on an Epoch server. Anyone have any suggestions? AS50s, BMPs, Jackals, etc with mounted machine guns are fine and fun, but all this other stuff is not what we're looking for anymore for our DayZ Epoch play. Thanks! :thumbsup:
  19. Yeah, it's a shame. But I would think that there are some servers out there that aren't following suite with everyone else and not cramming every damn military thing they can in to the mod ...

Great Starting gear, everything on but tags, 3 hr restart to assist with maintaining fresh loot spawns. Vehicles spawns set to 900 with 30+ Chopper and Airplane spawns set (usually equates to 150+ Vehicles / 10+ Helos / 2+ Airplanes actually spawned) Fresh Spawn load out includes AK / M9 SD / Map / Morphine / Assorted other items Admin Events! Group up and kill the Admins for your share of great loot / vehicles! We've added in several new military air vehicles, and we're currently building bases for you and your clan!     Hello,

 I have a few questions relating to this fantastic new map. 

First and foremost - what is the difference and why are there two versions? (I read this thread and I'm not up on the bs that seems to be going on with servers and files ... so what's the difference and which is the best version to play on?) Why don't I spawn with a Makarov and one clip like I've read? Why are the 34 new skins gone? I thought we'd get to experience them and have not had the chance (are they on the EU version?)
 And why do none of the Taviana servers that I've played on warn players before they restart? Is this something missing from server files or just shitty server admins not setting a warning? 

 

No one answered the above and I'm wondering the same thing. For there to be two versions of something doesn't one usually offer something that the other does not? 

 

Are these things noted above being fixed and/or being put back in? 

 

What is this fix and how to do I apply it to my scripts file?

Here's a fairly easy way to figure out where you are since you say you have a map and compass. *When you first log in watch the bottom right of the screen and it will say where you are (at least the general area) *Find this mountain / town / bay / etc on your map. or even look online then find it on your map. *Look closely as some of the areas are written in different ways (such as quarries, bays, mountains, versus towns) *Once you find that area on your map, hold shift and left click the map near the area it said on the screen when you logged in (this will place a "waypoint" a mark on the map that helps guide you) *Go to the waypoint, pull out your compass and face north. *You now know exactly where you are on the map and which way north, south, east and west are in relation to your location. *Place waypoints from now on and you won't get lost (FYI - waypoints do not stay on the map when you log in / out) Hopefully this helps :)

    New Player needs some help.

    Got a couple good answers there. As a new player myself I find these helpful: Youtube it! I've received soo much helpful info from just watching youtube videos on surviving, looting, tips, etc. This forum has given me loads of helpful information! Use the search or just start clicking :) For weapons check a Firehouse, Deer stands, and Airfields for Military weapons. Barns and sheds often contain shotguns, rifles, and other "civilian" types of weapons.
