  1. The last time I tried to get someone to help me when I had a broken leg they shot me. If there are going to be situations where I am dependent on other players to recover from major injuries, then an option to blow my brains out should also be added. I will always choose the latter.
  2. I've only been playing DayZ for a week, but I'm still struggling to see the advantage of being an bandit. I've been killed by a few, sure, but I only blamed myself for those deaths. And those bandits usually didn't walk away any healthier or more alive than before... Unless a bandit is in a group or has a sniper rifle which they had to earn, aren't they at a serious disadvantage in the DayZ world by taking on the only threat worse than the zombies? Maybe it's a bigger problem on the Expert and Veteran servers where you often have to obtain resources from other players, the server hopping keeps me away from those anyway since I assume those players gear up on Regular and camp key destinations before switching. TL DR: I would prefer adding/improving survival gear rather than imposing penalties on bandits, like binoculars that don't feel like I'm putting on blinders while trying to balance on one toe. Better than having to walk right up street signs at least...

    Melee Weapon Petition

Have never played a PvP shooter with melee combat reliable enough that I'd want to lose my DayZ head to kids going kamikaze with knives (there are entire COD montages dedicated to knives and their superiority over guns which most I'm sure are well aware of). Would be nice to kill livestock with the hunting knife though.
  4. +1 vote for lighting up the night somehow. If I have to wreak havoc on my display settings to be competitive (aka able to survive) at night I'll just gamble with lag on EU servers where there aren't as many bandits anyway. It's like playing a game where you can turn off foliage to expose snipers, the realism is betrayed by the game options. NVG should also be removed, there is no equivalent mechanic (vision vs. no vision) during daytime and so further lowers the incentive for playing on a night server.
  5. New to the forum but my two cents: Reward Survivors for making good survival decisions Reward Bandits for making good bandit decisions Plenty of ways of going about it, but the devs hopefully have clear definitions for each of these roles and know how to execute on this best. I personally find being a survivor harder to maintain than being a bandit, and I like being a survivor for the perceived additional challenge. This may not be necessarily true though, since only two bandits have successfully attacked me and lived - 2 out of 4, and yes I died all four times (would have probably only died three times if I could get the bandit's damned backpack open before I bled out). Ultimately the bandit/survivor mechanic isn't on my mind as much as the wealth of bugs and unfinished designs that come with any mod, mods which by definition are free of charge. It's awesome to see this level of debate for such a niche game regardless.
  6. Hello! Played on Tarkovsky over the weekend and enjoyed it thoroughly. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but the server currently appears to be running a different version than 1.60. Is there something I need to do in order to join? Thanks!
