Okay I have two ideas for this the first one is that it is just an in-game journal that automatically records the time and somewhat prominent events helping players keep tabs on their recent "excursions" e.g. 1:15 P.M. Killed a small horde (5+ Zombies) 2:36 P.M. Arrived in 3:56 P.M. Found 4:01 P.M. Killed a survivor/bandit This would probably be harder to implement than my second idea which is that it is a personal journal that you manually enter your own entries and can be dropped so you could leave other players messages and whatnot or have them pick up and read a story about a lone wanderer and his struggles surviving this world. TL;DR In-game journals 'nough said.

Since people respawn to get to to a better spawn point that is why the number is so low. Just in case you were wondering.
