    I'm the pilot for our team and one of our guys decided to try and fly it when I was offline... He'd never flown before, not even in normal ArmA. He didn't crash it but I was kind of annoyed, it is the biggest asset in the game, not something worth risking for a little joy ride.

    The whole "duping has made them far to common" is fucking bullshit! I've found far more AS50s and M107 than any other rifle in the game, faaar more than any M24,SVD or CZ550.

    Hackerfree Server (Privat Hive)

    Private hives are incredible, I dont understand why people even bother with public ones. The admins actually have power, they don't have thousands and thousands of 'rare' guns flapping around, they're hack free and you can even change loot spawns to level it out. We have one running ATM and intend to change ALOT of things do it makes more sense. Very little US and British weapons and they will only be heli crash spawns, things like the SVD and range finders can be found at deer stands, more SVDs at Russian crash sites, the only 50cal ingame would be the Russian one and purely a barracks spawn. I think it will improve the current DayZ a lot!

    It takes 5 NATO rounds on the underside to kill a helicopter, less to the main rotor/engine area. I know this because I shot a chopper 4 times and the pilot said the engine turned red

    Just play on a private hive, you'll have a character for each hive you play on. I have a character purely for playing alone on a noob server and my normal character is on a proper server

    So, anyone got any tips or tricks to this? I missed a shot today that I would've easily hit had they been crouched or standing and it is really bugging the shit out of me! I can range find with the M107,M24 and DRM quite easily but I heard it is different with the AS50? Also, how do I do it vs prone targets? It was a 400m shot but I landed around 10m short Any help with this would be greatly appreciated -edit- I have used the search function and looked on google but nothing has come up for prone targets

    Just last night we have set up our own private hive. To be honest, I enjoy them much more. They're the only real way to get away from hackers and if you manage to get a decent player base then putting a PW on it doesn't hurt

    As awesome as the SVD is, it is far out classed by the 50cals. Duping aside, .50cals are far to common compared to the 7.62 rifles. If I go hunting for an M24 or SVD, it's near impossible to find yet if I search a newly restarted server for crashed helicopters I'm almost always going to find 2-3 .50cals
