Anyone think the aiming in Arma is strange?
sappo569 replied to bonafide's topic in New Player Discussion
Imagine a cone of movement infront of your player, the bigger the deadzone is, the more you can move the mouse without your characters whole body moving... just the weapon. So for games like CS etc, they would have zero deadzone... as if the gun was welded to your torso. This system tries to simulate the separation of arm+weapon from the rest of your body. In stealth situations, combined with a proper head-tracking device it can be a lifesaver -

Misfire. It might just end your life.

On a similar note... For those who have yet to experience it, be very careful when alt-tabbing out to check a webpage etc. I lost my character of 4 days (M4 CCO, 1911, blood bags, etc etc etc) last night due to an alt+tab accident. I left clicked the game to jump back in, and found myself firing a single 1911 round into the air, problem was I had been sneaking along the outskirts of a town at the time. Queue me running for my life and firing wildly at the ever expanding zombie menace surrounding me. I died, bleeding out, sandwiched between a fence and a shrubbery. Vile weed. -
Yes, but the point to all this is.. if you alt+f4 once the system is in place you are punished

Must be on server restarts... Was just playing on NY7, and found a helo! I was so excited as I slowly crawled towards it... slowly.... "Connection Lost" WPODKLFM!!A@Lfdkl! Wait a minute... two... Server comes back up, I smash on the enter key with nervous fingers. Spawn in... My precious helo is gone! Replaced by empty space... Also as side note, I found this helo because it had a bright red glowing light on the side of it... didn't look like a flare either. Was this something special ... or a one off?

Man the frik up. I'm on Day 27 of this character. I average 14 FPS in open fields. 7 FPS is fantastical whilst deep in Cherno. 10-12 FPS is not unplayable. I agree man, Its amazing what people have become used to with todays modern computers... For the longest time I was happy to have 10-15 FPS in any modern games.

Not a bad idea, since the players are all wearing tactical vests / load bearing vests already... might as well have them put to use.

I think to relieve the stress, the dev's should have a special mode once in awhile, a take on the Kill the Dev's a lot of other games will do; The dev's spawn as survivors, same as we would normally. Any other player that connects gets spawned as a zombie... Work it out from there :)

Agreed on the non-half-of-assing it. Perhaps in the interim, it will be understood that logging off / disconnecting means going to sleep... in the game world. So as a cool way of implementing the timer, just have the in-game character do the crouch (like looking in your gear menu) for 5-10 seconds, to simulate placing a bed roll and getting into it. I am sure at some point we will see actual bed-rolls anyways... Could add a lot to immersion when you are stumbling through the forest and come across 3-4 bed-rolls, did the occupants hear you coming ? Perhaps they ran from their camp for some other reason...

persistent character body (alt+f4 fix),interiors for hollow buildings +NUDITY
sappo569 replied to _Profile_Shame's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Good idea, but I don't think it can be implemented in this engine/mod As soon as you offer the ability to harm another player with your actions, while they are offline... you will have whole groups dedicated to simply hunting out inactive players and executing them. Look at something as simple as barricading rooms, in the space of a few days, the number of rooms/buildings that have barbed wire strung up in and around them like silly string have grown massively... Mostly because one enterprising little turd discovered the joy in making others rage, and the rest piled on. --------------- The other idea regarding building interiors would also not fly given the mod and engine being used, the whole world is loaded once... we have zero loading screens or waiting for anything we do in the game. To suddenly introduce a loading screen while entering a new area would not be looked highly upon -
V'ing over the wire will all depend on the placement, and if someone is familar with the quirks of the engine... then you will not be able to V over it. I myself ran into a few last night, a church was totally blocked off with wire, and a fire station entrance. And to top it off the person who stacked at the fire station put wire facing across the doorway and through it as well, like a final F'You to anyone trying to get in.

People dying on login I dont BELIEVE is caused by the food / drink issue. What is probably happening is they are being killed in the debug forest, which we have all heard about... and when they login again the server updates with 'You're dead, die now' From my reading it appears you have approx. 10-15 minutes to eat/drink once the icon starts flashing, as a rule of thumb now I just make sure I have 1 drink and 1 can of something in my inventory on logout.

I can't really say I've had many people disconnect on me, at least not that I have easily noticed. The last few kills I've had (self defense honestly) have been clear cut and swift, double tap or 3-4 into the chest and head and they drop. No chance to disconnect. But when I play are probably off times for these types of people (bed time set by mom), so its just good old fashioned men playing. And for all of you worrying about getting killed for bugs and or having to server hop for issues... I am sure he is taking that into consideration. Some nights I might have to try 4-5 different servers in the space of a few minutes, I think Rocket is referring to the guys that server hop 4 servers in the space of like 30 seconds.

I generally don't have time to take pictures... I'm more concerned with staying alive and such than snapping pretty pics :D Ugh oops... I just realized I posted in the 'gallery' This is really more of a story. :(
