Specific Replacement Weaponry (USSR)
Zombiestubble replied to Zombiestubble's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The point is not to totally replace the NATO weapons, just be realistic about them. I'm sure if you looked hard enough, finding an M4A1 would be possible. But I'm also saying finding a Stechkin or a VSS would be much more plausable. 5.45 or 7.62 ammo would be much more common in Chenarus than STANAGs, the NATO standard magazine. You could still have your M4A1s with Aimpoints and Grenade Launches, just make them more rare, and replace the spawnrates of those weapons with the ones in this pack. 9x39 ammo is hard to find, but it should be more available than 5.56, considering that the Groza and AS VAL are both USSR in origin. Besides, if you wanted American, why don't we just throw in the XM8 and the MK series in as well? Hell, we can just call Chenarus "Somewhere around western Canada" and be done with it. And I wouldn't mind a Canadian DayZ, but if we did that, then everyone would bitch about how AKs got there, and start threads about the latest Savage or Ruger rifle, and how it should be added. But we're in the middle of the post-soviet USSR. We got AKs. And a lot of people want to spice up thier "AK experience". I'm just providing the means for them to do so. -
Combining more ammunition types

A PDW to MP5 mag would work, as well as vice versa. A Glock 17 to M9 mag would also be convienient. -
Specific Replacement Weaponry (USSR)
Zombiestubble replied to Zombiestubble's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If DayZ were in America, less people would have problems with the current loadout, considering that America is really "the gun country". If DayZ were in somewhere like Poland, the mix of post-soviet NATO weaponry and USSR weaponry would complement each other. But we're in Chenarus, which is basically the same thing as the Czech Repulbic (Bohemia purposely modeled some of the environment from the CR). I don't know how many M4A1s w/ Eotech you would find in the Czech Republic, but I guarantee that there wouldn't be many. Not nearly as many as there would be AK variants. And people start up with the "realist fanaticism" because while the rest of the game is incredibly realistic, the selection of weapons isn't. And people want that changed. Including me. And why not replace the current placeholders with more sensable placeholders. Like perhaps the ones I suggested. -
Zeds shouldn't aggro because they heard you

Would be a great addition. Suprised it isn't implemented already. -
Petition to add the Mosin Nagant to Day Z
Zombiestubble replied to Kophka's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Signed, and four of my other friends who play DayZ would also probably want it in here, so singed for them too. Another pistol would be good, as the current selection of only five is sort of low. There should be at least some Tokarevs, CZs, Stechkins, and Fort-12s laying around as well. Revolvers too, but as they are generally more powerful, not that many. -
More clothes would be a plus, but I'm not really quite sure if it would be better to change your clothes with your character profile, or to have your clothes randomized at spawn, then chosen through loot. If it were the latter, it would take quite a while for people to find something neat. Also, where would we put the clothes? Hats don't really have a separate section on the character's body, as much as Champloo wants an Italian hat. If something changes, by all means, let me wear a Slayer T-shirt while killing zombies.

What if perhaps we could have characters and information tied to profiles rather than CD-keys. I understand that this would probably put more strain in the servers, but it would be much more convenient for people, especially for people who play in groups. If certain members of the group aren't on, you have to risk going on without them to play some DayZ. If there was an account-based system, you could play with your group on a main account and by yourself on your other account. It would be much more convenient for people who travel in groups, and whose friends aren't always on to play with them.

DayZ servers having nothing :/

I don't use six launcher, and it works for me. Sixlauncher is utterly horrible in my honesty opinion. Just stick the old ways and you should be fine. -
Double barrel shotgun seems a little...lame?
Zombiestubble replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I found a DB shotgun once. Tried it out, then realized that if I got more than 3 zombies on me in the wilderness, I was fucked. Something better than a double-barrel shotgun? - How about a OTs-33 Pernach or a Fort-12. They both use makarov ammo, so why not. - Something else that would be neat would be an SKS. It's a 7.62x39 semi auto carbine. Could use AKM mags if need be, although officially the magazine size is 10, not 30. - A pellet gun. Ammo is common, and each magazine is 60 rounds. However, it is very low powered, requiring 5 body hits to kill. However, it should be one of the quietest weapons in the game. Comes with an low-powered scope, but unable to zero in. Suggestions as replacements to the DB shotgun. -
Bikes are the most common vehicle in the world. They should be everywhere!
Zombiestubble replied to auraslip's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bikes would make much sense, however, they shouldn't go too fast. I'd say about 30ish-kph for the standard bike on a regular road. However, look below. I would have two types of bikes though: Standard and Mountain. Mountain bikes would be equivalent on dirt, grass, and roads in terms of speed, while Standards would go faster on roads but not be able to go as fast on dirt and grass. Mountains would be harder to find, but would also not go as fast as the standard on the road. Mountain bikes on the road would go more around 22 kph. Dirt for Standard bikes would only make it go 20 kph. 30 kph = 18.6 mph, 22 kph = 13.6 mph, and 20 kph = 12.5 mph (for all the Americans out there) Just a suggestion for a suggestion. I greatly approve of using bikes in DayZ. -
+1. Just press F enough times to hear a soft click and an icon at the right side of the screen resembling a lock show up. When you take it off, the lock goes away.

Especially since the fucking wells don't work. Seriously, I've 360ed around wells countless times trying to bring up the action menu to fill up my canteen, and no such things pops up. Hopefully this "source drinkin" would rectify the current issue, and open up more possibilities for dangerous plans.

I love everything that the original poster has said. Overflow also has a really good idea about the quiver as a type of "backpack".
