I'm totally kudos on the combining 4-6 rounds into a one-slot item. Course it's been suggested a million times, but hey, I still like the idea and I'm not giving up.

Reworking Sniping for realism and gameplay
Zombiestubble replied to Nasakenai's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
ACE includes windage, so it's indeed possible to create it for DayZ. The big question is: What is going to make people stay sniping? If you nerf it too much, everyone is just going to use AKMs and M16 ACOGs. -
Yes.

New Map Challenge For Real DayZ Players
Zombiestubble replied to Pattinn's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You might be able to do something with THIRSK It certainly looks better than Vostok, and also seems to have a decent amount of the map covered by snow. This would probably be the best possibility, though I don't know how long it would take to convert DayZ to it. -
There have been many that have come before you, Rozjackal, including me. I always tried to use this to illustrate to people that there are indeed, more universe-fitting weapons. I give you the East Weapons Pack. It actually contains a lot of shit, which I posted back in a thread a looooooooong ass time ago. The pack: East Weapons Pack The long-ass time ago thread that included what the pack includes. Here It's not a super-huge pack, but it does include some real nice weapons if the DayZ team ever decides to implement them.

Just to go off a realistic standpoint: Who the hell has a P90? Barely any army really uses them, because they're using their own rifles. The ammunition would be also quite scarce, as only two weapons in the world use 5.7. It would be just as useful to put in an XM8 because at least it has some sort of scope. What we need are more hunting weapons. Most civilians don't own M16s, and the ones that do probably don't use them often. Here's something better: DEM SHOTGUNS. What's that? It's two shotguns that are used for hunting and skeet shooting. One is a semi-auto, the Browning Maxus, and the other is a Lanber 2097. Shotguns are the most common weapons in the world, with farmers and civilians alike using them for hunting, self defense, and skeet shooting. The chances of finding one of these types of weapons in a household is like 1 in 200. M16? more like 1 in 2000. We need these guns. We don't need more Modern Warfare. And speaking of which.... I feel a much greater accomplishment when I nail a bastard from 200 yards with a Winchester than with an AKM. Why? Because no matter what gun I choose, I will still kill you. Even if it is one of the most common weapons available. (And I actually did swap out an AKM for a Winchester once, for multiple reasons). On the side note of not having enough sidearms; 1. Make all melee weapons take the pistol slot. 2. Use these pistols as well. Many police forces use at least some of them. German Weapons Pack And the best part of what I just suggested, THEY'RE ALREADY MADE.

fix the basic things first is my sudgestion.
Zombiestubble replied to my_opinion's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There's a reason why I call it "Shitlauncher". -
Why is "slay bandits" still on the main page as step two? Every person is a bandit, considering that everyone wants to kill everyone else. I think "bandits" should be changed to "supposed friends" or "wandering players". Honestly, it's misleading.

I would say that more acutal hunting weapons should be added, and Hydrogenhats has the right idea with getting rid of the weapons. However, not all military weapons should be removed, but they should be among the rarest weapons in the game. To tack on to hydrogenhat's post, the Lee-Einfield should be added back, just for the sake of having a ridiculously loud rifle that isn't fully automatic. The following would also be good additions, and the models exist as well: Kar98: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6834 Styer SSG-69: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10499 SKS, Uzi, and Tokarev: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15802 Browning Maxus and Lanber O/U: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12338 These are all decent hunting weapons, and the models already exist. The problem for the other weapons though is that they only exist in theory. Someone still has to make them. These are already made, and would make DayZ more realistic with the inclusion of more hunting weapons/leftover weapons.

List of creatures we need roaming around, organized in order of priorities: 1. Bears 2. Wolves 3. Mountain Lions/Cougars/Panthers 4. Bloodsuckers from STALKER 5. Snorks from STALKER? 6. Chuck Norris 7. Puffer Fish 8. Carnivorous Deer 9. Wild Boar 10: Giant Catfish (possibly in lakes) In Soviet Russia, catfish eat you.

Keep 'respawn' button disabled, but add a group spawn function
Zombiestubble replied to nuclearaddict's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Disabling the respawn button doesn't work anyway. I just head to the nearest town and get molested by zeds to respawn somewhere different. Like Balota. The best thing to do would honestly be to choose where you spawn, having the options: Kamenka, Prigorodki, Kamyshovo, and Nizhnoye. They're all a decent distance away from each other, and people who spawn on the east coast have smaller cities, but are slightly closer to the more high-level areas in case they want a quicker start. Prigo is close to both of the main cities, and Kamenka has a relatively low possibility of banditry, due to it's remoteness. People at Kamyshovo can either choose starting on the west or east coast, and Nizhnoye is close to Berezino, and somewhat close to the Northeast Airfield. It might also make players think twice before putting tents up there too. -
A Final Solution to the Bandit Problem
Zombiestubble replied to EggMcSexy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Perhaps a realistic bandit solution, or at least a way to cut down on the banditry is to limit the amount of stuff players can pick up on bodies. By severely restricting it, to something around 4 slots. However, killing bandits that are DESIGNATED BY THE BANDIT SKINS BEING BROUGHT BACK (they actually freakin' worked you know, well, for the most part. People would actually make "bandit hunting squads") would yield you more slots than 4, somewhere around 5-6. Although it's probably never going to happen, because 10% of what's suggested on here makes it past 3 pages of posts, and 1% of that is ever actually considered. So it's really more like 0.1%. -
will dayz ever come to consouls and is there anything else like dayz
Zombiestubble replied to resistence1993's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The War Z is going to be quite like DayZ, but it is still catering to a "milder" audience. Not the Call of Duty audience, but audiences more like STALKER, Dead Island, and Fallout. Here's a PC Gamer Artice on it: The War Z Simple version: The War Z is somewhat like DayZ, only with more customization, a retail price of $30, and skill trees. Skill trees dictate that there is XP, and XP means quests. Quests means levels, and levels mean non-civilian guns being at your disposal. Fortunately, people can host servers, it's a one-time payment (no subscription), there's a normal and hardcore mode, free updates and 250 people in a 400ish km2 world. Not exaclty like DayZ, but its probably the closest a retail version can get. Hopefully, the specs won't be super-high, and pray that it doesn't turn out like APB Reloaded. As for consoles: - ARMA: never has and never will. There are not enough buttons, and you'd have to delve into 3-button combos just to bring up your watch. - The War Z? Since its an "MMO", probably not. Not to mention, consoles are dying out of the current (8th gen) anyway. The Wii U is headlining with mediocre crap, and the Ecksbawx and Painstakin' 3 will be sure to follow. Probably around 2013/14. -
You can't play on most servers because the patches are not backwards compitable. If you have 1.62 (current type) you cannot play on 1.60 (or even 1.61 I believe). If you didn't update and have the last 1.60 beta patch, you can play on most of the servers because those all still use 1.60. So either wait a few months for 5 servers to get 1.62(or 1.61), or install something else than DayZ and start playing that. Because its going to be a long-ass time.

Could be used as a portable tent, but bigger. Also should be extremely rare if implemented with this feature.

Which map would you like to see for dayz?
Zombiestubble replied to liukang168's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
100x100 is quite rare for a custom map, which is quite a large number. Most Islands I see that are custom made are around the size of 10x10. However, some maps do look quite good. Take these for example: Not sure how well a zed apocalypse would do in africa, but it could be better than Resident Evil 5. >>> Isla Duala This island looks quite good, and a bit more modern than Chenarus. It also has quite a bit of water, as it looks sort of like a sunken europe. >>> Ovaron Island Last but not least, I can assure you that fighting zombies in a jungle-like vegitated island would be quite frighting. Especially at night. And especially if a weapon condition feature is put in. >>> Razoreniya Island If we want a change from the soviet states, these might do quite well. -
Why isn't it in regular ARMA 2? We should put in what they somehow left out. +1

Better immersion when shaking idea...

Speaking of pills, Diazepam anyone? -
A lot of people say that the weapons should be more localized to a post-soviet state, because finding a L85 or M107 just isn't plausible enough. However, a weapon pack known as the "East Weapon Pack" is a good start, considering that it has much more authentic and localized weaponry than your typical M16 w/ ACOG scope. This pack contains a handful of more authentic soviet weaponry, which would make for a more fitting universe. As of current you can clearly find a NATO Anti-tank launcher in the NW airfield and find no such weapons like an RPK. What bullshit. Here is the pack, a sizable 123 mb, but acutally worth it: http://www.armaholic...age.php?id=9218 The entire list of weapons is in the readme, but I can give you a small spoiler: Contains: Tokarev - Pistol MP 443 - Pistol Stechkin & Stechkin SD - Pistol VSS - SMG/Sniper AS VAL - SMG OC14 Groza - Assault Rifle SV98 - Sniper Rifle RPK, both 7.62 and 5.45 versions - LMG (No drums by the way) AN94 Akaban - Assault Rifle NATO AK (M80) - Assault Rifle (AK in 5.56! I would also say this would be fairly rare) AK 100 series - All AK-type Assault Rifles PKP - LMG SVD - Sniper Rifle SVU - Sniper Rifle AEK 971 - Assault Rifle Siminov SKS - Semi-Auto Rifle There's more, and quite a few AK variants to be had as well. I hope the team even considers these weapons to be implemented, or at least some of them to make Chenarus not look like it was in the middle of Texas, but actually a small country that used to be part of the USSR. There's more differences between the weapons than to label them all AK-ripoffs, and most of them are actually still used today. And I'm pretty sure you would have a much better, if not significantly superior chance of finding one of the weapons I just listed in a post-soviet state than an M4A1 with a M203 and Eotech.

Hatchets as a secondary weapon (pistol slot)

+1 and everyone else that I know that plays DayZ: +1 -
Zombies in general need to move in-between the speed of the "monkey" and the "runner". However, they also need to be stronger. Like a 1911 takes 3 hits to kill a zombie instead of one, and it takes 5 on the limbs. A good start to making zombies trip and stumble is to shoot them in the limbs, a la "Dead Space". Making them slower if you shoot them in the legs or making thier attacks do less damage if you shoot them in the arms would add for interesting gameplay. Zombies should also investigate more than just instatly run. If they see a player within an 12 meter radius, then they should instantly run towards the player. Anywhere more than 12 meter, zombies should slowly shamble towards the source of the noise, and investigate nearby buildings. L0GIN knows what I'm talkin' 'bout.

Underground to be like S.T.A.L.K.E.R's underground sections?
Zombiestubble replied to SkullFace45 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ahem, gentlemen. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13589&highlight=STALKER But you do have to realize, Chenarus is sort of devoild of underground elements. If we wanted more underground elements, then perhaps a new map would be in order. In fact, Namalsk has an underground area. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7781 -
New mechanic: weapon health system
Zombiestubble replied to sparta436's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like a weapon health system, complete with either more abundant repair kits or specific gunsmithing kits for certian weapons. I would however not like a system that was based on shots fired. A percentage system like what Draco122 suggested would be better, as then you could increase the percentage. Perhaps even go above 100% and make the weapon shoot more accurately than it normally would. -
Specific Replacement Weaponry (USSR)
Zombiestubble replied to Zombiestubble's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You and I have the same goal it seems. Just use the weapon pack in you thread, change a couple names, and we're all good. However, I would strongly suggest that the SKS replace the M14 EP1, and that there would really be no .50 caliber weapons. .50 Caliber. Really. How many people do you think have one? Not everyone hunts Rhinoceros in Chenarus. The SV98 and VSS would both be quite formidable, considering that the VSS is a scilenced, fully auto sniper rifle. Course 9x39 ammo isn't exactly common either. And TBH, I'd say replace the M4 variants with the AK100 series, and replace the M16s with the Akaban. Akabans are more accurate, and have the two-round burst feature. As for the L85? Just replace that with the M16 or it's ACOG variant. I'd say make Red-dots and aimpoints hard to find, especially since they are designed for fast-targeting. Scopes like the PSO-1 would be a tad more common as they are pretty much actual scopes. And they do have a fixed zoom.
