Hey Guys! we are happy to presentate you the new community Epoch-Server of the german facebook group "DayZ:Deutsche Gruppe". With 3.600 members in total we are one of the biggest german speaking DayZ (mod & standalone) Facebook-Communites out there. As the main target group might be german speaking people, english is allowed as side-chat language and we hope to attract some more international players for the sake of diversity any community needs to be filled with life. Anyways, what's the point of this Server? We wanted to go "back to the roots", to combine the original DayZ feeling of permanent threat and survival with basebuilding features of DayZ Epoch. That means: There are no jets, no tanks, no 70mm rifle with automatic-sniper-TWS-10xScope and such. No mapmarkers, no donated bullshit-gear, no crosshair, just ... Then grab a squad, stick together and wipe them out. Step #1: Open a thread here, recruting players for a "reset 'dem" - Squad. DayZ - it's your story. Take responsibility. ;)

An then, what? Doing the same stuff over and over again? Nah, a reset will not lead to anything but the same PvP-attitude most players have at the moment. The only solution would be an improvement of the environment itself and specific ingame rewards for being a good guy, like a hero perk, faster runnning, a light ballistic vest for example. At the moment, your approach on other players does not make any difference for your ingame-character at all. But then there will be the next huge problem: DayZ is a social experiment. Players should be completely free to decide what they do and why they are doing it. This will be, in my opinion, always be a problem with sandbox games with guns in it. "Educating" players towards a desired play-style does not change their mindset.

Recently we heard rumors about a city free of the contagion. So we fixed up a plane and, all of the sudden, we made it. But we were not alone...Enjoy and thanks for watching. I have to emphasize DemonGroovers' point on this. This game is so much more as a PvP-fest. Most people, like myself sometimes, just looking for a firefight, because there are no more challenges. Therefore, PvE has to be challenging, players has to be forced to fear for their virtual life and to work together as if it were necessary in a fictive real extreme situation like a serious breakout. Besides that, please take a look into the general idea of the latest patch and keep in mind, that the mod as a whole is still a game in progress. I'm really glad that infections are now a serious issue as they can finally cause death. I'm now forced to re-enter the big cities to loot those quite rare antibiotics that my character needs so desperately. I really like the idea of being run over and knocked down by a wild horde of Zeds. Of course, there is still a big amount of adjustments to do for a good-working SA. But still, the game as a whole is on a good way to become truly what it was intended to be back in the DayZ. Dear developers, keep up the good work and thanks a lot for your efforts! :)

Hi! First of all: There is simply a lot of Private Hives out there at the moment. On the other hand gaining a stable playercount isn't that simple at all. I checked one of your threads on the board here and I like to be honest with you - it's horrible. Here's why: I just saw a lot of empty phrases and misspellings. I assume you are not a native speaker. That's fine, but you have to remember: You only have this one chance to show people how awesome your server is. Misspellings and an unorganised looking thread is a NO-GO. Also the colors used are hurting my eyes. The inital visual impact is vital here. Consequence: Potential players will just skip your thread. They will stay away from your server. You don't need a fancy logo and shit. But provide basic informations in a professional looking way. Keep it as short as possible, most important infos on top and never forget to clearly point out, what makes your server so different. So, take your time and refurbish one of your threads. AND: DO NOT start 4 threads in like 2 days. It's just very, very annoying and doesn't help you and your server at all. Even worse: It shows that you are desperate. Be self-confident and tell the people out there, that theyy have to play on your server, because it is unique (I don't think it is, but that's your goal). Good luck and regards

Of course you can do with your server what you want. But do not call it DayZ, when it's not DayZ. 1000 vehicles, tanks, jets, no zombies = not much left huh?...:(

"no plane!" hahaha! He's german for sure! He wanted to say "got no idea". "Kein Plan" is a quite common german expression. :D It's these random and unique encounters that makes DayZ so different. Nice Video man!Keep up the good work!

This server is great, A+! More people should join in ASAP! I assume, a lot of guys plays Origins atm, like myself. But I'll return to your server every once in a while!

They can't hit you in a pinetree and they often lose interest in you. :) You can also try to break the line of sight. This might help too.

Zombies are buggy in DayZ. Sometimes they don't recognize you at all, the next moment they see you from 300m away while proned. You can sneak pretty effectively during the night. Zombies can hear better than they can see. So avoid streets, dirtroads and other loud undergrounds. While crossing a street at night, use shift-walk. Just rush into a city and try to get rid of them by cutting corners, run through a building (zombies cant run inside buildings) and using pine trees or big bushes as hideout.

I definitely recommend flying with a joystick. I use a Thrustmaster Afterburner II but w/o the thrust control and its quite easy to land planes and helis w/o autohover. I also made a video about the basics of flying a plane(AN-2). It's in german though, but maybe you'll find it useful anyways. Here you go:

I'm not a skilled graphic designer, just a nice screenshot I took a few days ago + some first steps in GIMP. Sorry for limited resolution. Hope someone will like it. :)

I got almost the same gear and I play at 45-50 fps all the time, while recording it's around 30. Don't waste money on a new GPU just for Arma 2. Arma 2 doesn't use that much GPU-Power, it's just has a bad performance overall, even on high-end machines, esp. it's not that good with multicore-CPU's. Try some little tweaks like these: use additional start-parameters! these make some FPS for me: -noworld -nosplash -cpucount=4 Set your video-memory ingame on "default", not "very high" and do not set everything on "low". Try medium/high quality settings with FAA and Anti-Aliasing off/very low instead. Remembers me on my DOS-Game-Times, where you also loaded games into high memory to increase performance! :)

Spawned in, met some really nice guys, who gave me a gun. Server running smooth, simple rules, AI works fine --> all what I was looking for!Looks great so far!

kk, I was told to save my word for the forums. Admins spawn atm with: CCO SD with 10+ mags, Coyote Backpack, M9SD, Ghillie Suit, GPS,NVGs, Rangefinder and the usual stuff. On the other hand, one of you guys said about the missing side chat that it's "not very realistic". It's on now, but still you can't complain about missing realism and start with, quote, "custom loadout" like this. A starting(!) loadout like this gives you a pretty good advantage over every other player. You do not care about dying and stuff with gear like this. Except for Hayward the other admins are currently pretty pissed and told me to "shut up" concering these problems, maybe due to the PvP attitude -CFF- has atm. Some,maybe, small things, currently kills the fun for us . Very, very sad.
