  1. I wonder if that can really happen in ARMA. Would be funny to see that happen :) I think you'll find that they'd go straight up and explode at their max distance for the launcher/RPG that was used.

Who you are in real life, impacts on how you play DayZ.

28 years of IT here - zzzzzz Standard IT stuff for 10 years then Project Development, Dot Com and Company start-ups, Management Consultancy and now the most expensive PC support guy there is. As a consequence, in between the odd email or two, I have plenty of time to play games which was always my main aim in life if I'm honest. Impact and relevance in game? None whatsoever. I'm logic driven and as such what the OP states makes common sense for the most part...if I wanted this to be real life that is and be a part of a "new beginning". Sadly, there's little in the way of any in game infrastructure to allow me or anyone else to do this at this time. The engine, mechanics and 'feel' of Arma 2 are not suited to this mod in my opinion, but I'd hope Arma 3 will bring much more to the party on this front. I too live in hope that "creating, constructing and helping" will become a reality in the not too distant future. Communication will be the first step...

    Realism vs bullshit

Realism...you do realise that there's zombies in this mod? ;) Seriously - unless the people that play this have an IQ the same as their shoe size then I'm sure they "get it". Everyone understands that the mod is trying to emulate a zombie filled post apocalyptic world where you have to try and survive. But at the same time it has to playable and worth bothering with otherwise people will stop playing it before it even reaches the beta stage. It's a balancing act from the powers that be, that neither I nor you can predict where it will lead...

    Master Computer just to use

Seems a little fishy that it would have Windows 7 Ultimate on it. Was it from a trade or PC fair? Anyway, if it's got an ATI 5650 1Gb in it, it's not going to win any races but you should be able to run Arma 2 / DayZ ok all the same... Change your desktop theme to a non Aero one first if you haven't done this already and then download, install and run this : ftp://ftp.secunia.com/PSISetup.exe It will update everything that needs updating on your system, which should offer a little better performance and security in general. Tell us how you get on...
  6. The thing is, with a AMD Sempron 140 Processor in your system you'll have an old motherboard too, that wont take a decent CPU, which is what Arma 2 needs as a priority, above ram...oh and it's got no chance of running Arma 3. Try more memory if you like but it won't improve the game much, if at all. Note : Windows XP is a 32bit OS and as such will only support up to 3.3Gb of ram. So if you do increase your memory don't bother going above 4Gb as it simply won't get used at all. Your best bet is to lower your graphics settings under the game's options menu and suffer a little until you have the money for something better...or ask around your friends and friend's families, to see if anyone's got a spare PC you can lend for a while - say it's needed for course work ;)
  7. NO No, because you should not be asking for approval of any idea on here. Stop the pandering - follow your vision.

Kronzky's SP "hack" removed (his words)

Good. And long may it stay that way. The minute that stops happening' date=' and I stop giving a shit. Then I've become what I said I wouldn't. This is a sign, to me anyway, that I am on the right track. I still give a shit about this and the community, and that I wasn't stupid to turn down big money. [/quote'] I'm somewhat of an onlooker here but can't help but feel the same way as NMEBowen, going by the content of this thread and others recently. While it's right to have principals and fantastic that you also have a vision that you want to carry through, you can still have these and not get too involved on here. Delegate - get some admins on here as well as the existing moderators, otherwise you may be burnt out a few months down the road and you'll likely not give a shit about any of this then, which would be a hell of a shame. Good luck and don't let the bastards get to you.

    Sandbags

After creating a wall of either type can you upgrade it to tier 2 or 3 at all, if indeed there are such things? I ask this as a message comes up with the wire fences saying that I created a tier 1 fence every time, but cannot seem to upgrade them in any way, with or without an entrenching tool. It of course would be nice to create some of those bigger square "cason" sand walls, like the ones in or around bases and the three rolls of interlocking wire fence too.

My top 10 list of new gameplay ideas.

I like 3, 4 and 5. 7. You could also have safe zones. Maybe like the bases in Stalker that are held and controlled by in game AI and where you can't use weapons. 8. Or...have different types of zeds with differing abilities.
