well that would be a bit selfish and sad, if there are only 3 vehicles per server and you want one (or more) to vanish from the server when you log off cause you think you own it...

found one on stable server in Lopatino last night

Clearing up the "No message received for x seconds" message
chokko replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
maybe the server admin is resetting it often (naughty), hoping chopper wreck will spawn near character etc or server admin is too lazy to figure out the times to implement the restart warning messages (involves a little bit of maths, juggling differences between ingame time vs server time vs real time) -
Russian chopper wrecks often have them

mmm ponies - extra food source

so long as if I use a soda, I get ants in my pants when rolling on the ground afterward...

that might be your style, but it's a multiplayer game and different people have different play styles. I too like being quiet and discrete. But having vehicles, including noisy motorized ones, will start to open up the list of ways to find/interact with other players. Finding the parts, fixing, manually refueling vehicles...makes teamwork more beneficial. Vehicles getting hidden in the forests, offers reason for others to explore the full map (instead of running between cities with W key held down by a paperweight). Setting up ambushes on vehicles. Tracking vehicles on foot after hearing one in the distance. Hearing people approach in a vehicle whilst looting somewhere quiet, wondering how many people are in it, do I hide/run/try to take it out or steal it? Thinking twice about running in open areas (e.g. plains near Putoshka/Vybor), since vehicles can chase you down if caught in the open.

my character is male and has never shown any sign at all of getting overheated. I can run all over the map in ttkso/balaclava/hat/vest my friends character is female and always gets overheated, even if all clothes removed so is it gender related?

*I* believe the source of the sounds could be from anyone anywhere on the map. It's the fact that someone (anyone) is near you, triggers the game to realise it must broadcast some player sounds to you, but they (devs) have not gotten around to filtering whose sounds to forward to you yet. i.e. you simply get everyones. e.g. my friend has been at Berezino, I am at zelenogorsk. I say I hear someone eating/rounds combining to him on teamspeak, he instantly comes back saying it was him. shortly after I find another player in zelenogorsk... whether this is really what's going on under the covers...who knows, but seems to match my experiences
-
actually when I start hearing those random sounds, that's when I realise another player is nearby. my dayz buddy came up with the theory that it only happens when you are near someone else (maybe several hundred meters, we should test it more thoroughly)..and I tend to agree. we always hear the random sounds when we run around together (and there's other players on), only sometimes if I am playing alone (likely to be when I cross paths with other players in the popular areas), and never if I am messing about alone in the sticks somewhere.

More of a prized memory than bragging event... This weekend I was tracking a dude on north side of NWAF, from tent city to barrack. he leaves barrack and enters industrial. I was 2metres from following him in when he gets lit up by a team of three players. i crap myself and scamper back to tent city. Meanwhile my mate is on southern side watching the three players, one of whom had big blue backpack. Mate takes a few pot shots at him with m4. Mr blue backpack hides behind hangers. I box around airfield and join my mate on south side. We don't see anymore of the three players. After 5 or so minutes of just lying there, i decide to move on. I move just 5metres to my left and see a dude with big blue backpack with his face buried into the side of a tree facing south west. Cheeky bugger had server hopped, ghosted across airfield, hadn't even bothered moving to opposite side of tree from us. I had caught him whilst he was server hopping back in. Unfortunately i had no handcuffs to have fun with him, so bang bang. We found two more players 100metres away, running in, but they may have run all the way around rather than cheat.

Do they currently work ? It's pristine, has battery in it, turned it on, tried using it in my hand or using it from inventory... I press fullstop, or comma, and it only ever comes up with 'Direct communication'. I never see the 'frequency' channel. It seems to turn itself off after awhile, so I turn it back on...nothing. Tried on a few servers. have I missed something ?
-
so you don't see the frequency in white (in bottom left corner of screen) when broadcasting? tutorials have it. and does it sound any different to players listening (squelching sound) ?

wear animal skins, to sneak up on people (hope they don't want to eat me) play piano in piano house removing the gamma/brightness adjustment, so we're all fumbling in the dark all servers on a particular hive, are synced with the same time of day/weather (so ppl cannot hop to avoid that nasty night, rain etc) I like the idea of heavy storms/fog, reducing visibility to meters setting grass on fire to flush people out of sniper spots / buildings..a la farcry2 -
What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ

what on earth is a 'loot only' server ? -
I had that last weekend when I paused for 1second at a wooden horse intending to pickup a bag of rice. Was on floor below the very top of construction site, unsure if that is 3rd floor you were on. It was the construction site on east side of cherno. You are dead, some broken leg messages. I assumed I was sniped. Would be nice if there were a simple message indicating you were indeed killed by the direct action of another person, rather than wondering if it were a glitch.
-
love all these clowns who think they're playing a 'hardcore sim'. when the game has your character sleeping in-game to loot/kill whilst you're logged out...then lets talk about realism. for the OP, dont mind your idea. Not necessarily needing to know the name of killer, but where/how it happened would be nice...primarily for piece of mind it was a legit kill (not a hacker who teleported there 2 seconds earlier).

Hello, Does ARMA2 / DayZ support anyway to view track files , to replay events later? If not, would be interested to hear developers thoughts on having something like this in dayZ (not as any immediate priority). i.e. something similar to DCS Warthog,Blackshark etc Even if the replay was limited to a 3rd person view locked to your character...it would be useful to: Record videos later (not need FRAPs running during game play) Gives you less of an excuse to falsely claim it was a hacker taking you down. You can learn from what you did wrong in the moments before death. thanks

haven't read all the ranting.. for a newb like me who doesn't wanna touch naughty stuff i find in a tent, is this the best place to check first? http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Weapons
