Tents not saving inventory and dissapearing
bodycount replied to Maximilian (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I lost my sanity after searching around one night for 5 hours straight trying to find my tent before someone told me they were server specific then another 4 hours running around after finding the right server only to have someone tell me they were bugged lol. I wanted to not be a hobo...a vagrant...to have a place I could call home...my little tent on the zombie prairie. -
Well I noticed that while installing glass onto a vehicle it only repaired one window (front windshield) perhaps like I said earlier it takes multiple parts for larger vehicles. 3-4 fuel tank parts might stack and finally get her airborne.

I am still working on getting a drivable car going. 4 tires, engines, fuel tanks. It is damn hard as a lone wolf to get wheels. Maybe I should focus on a bicycle...or a new pair of Nikes.

Double barrel Shotgun would be a good first find weapon in a barn.

Stuck on loading screen. Just found me one of them new fancy city slicker Key-ough-tegh backpacks. Maybe that has something to do with it?

My own thoughts and reservations regarding the impending morality system
bodycount replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am loving the Bandit system. Call of Doody kiddies can have a cool looking model to L337 Snipxorz and other people can have a way to know who the kiddies are either to avoid or to take them out. Definitely do not remove the Bandit model system. It is a great way to help even out the balance. -
I like the eating sound. Please do not change it. Tearing into a delicious juicy piece of lamb meat. OM NOM NOM! Dat wonderful 800 health per steak. CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!

Maybe it takes more than one fuel tank part to fix since it is a larger vehicle? Maybe you need two or three fuel tank parts to get that whirlybird into the air?

I want to be T Dawgg!

You should need to earn that hat cowboy! You start out as Carol and work your way up to Dale...then Carl...then Andrea...then Glenn then Daryl...then Rick...and finally when you become tough as nails you become Shane and put a round into your friends leg in order to stop the zeds from chasing you.

I think scrap metal repairs the hull...perhaps you need fuel tank parts? I have found fuel tank parts around the map for cars and successfully installed them, maybe they apply to choppers as well?

Pumpkins would take up 10 inventory slots. You need to find a canning kit to process pumpkins and also loot some mason jars. :)~

Why dont Americans use American servers?
bodycount replied to Maximilian (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The European and Australian servers are less Kiddie Call of Doody. Lots more teamwork and better servers than the US and NYC servers. I join those and it is non stop PEW PEW PEW L337 skillxorz sniping from every single rooftop. I am in the U.S. also. -
I was hurt...badly hurt ...I had lost so much blood it must have left a path 5 miles long. I managed to make it to the northern hospital of Cherno and asked on my walkie talkie if anybody in the city could help me with a blood transfusion. I got a response of some survivors trying to make their way to me. I shot open the front windows of the hospital to get inside and heard the maddening yells of a dozen or so geeks. I could barely see my vision was so blurry and grey but I wasn't going down without a fight. I squeezed off as many rounds from my .45 revolver into those blood thirsty monsters as I could manage. I dropped about 15 before I passed out from blood loss. I woke up to see more of those hungry eyes gazing at me through the glass and I fed them the rest of my lead. I saw another survivor through my hazy vision run into the apartments across from the hospital and grabbed my blood bags and made a dash for him. Little did he know the apartment was infested and when I got closer I could see they were feasting on his still warm corpse. I shot those three and three more coming down the stairs. This must have alerted more because I could hear the screams of them in the distance. The poor sod had a Remington 870 shotgun with two 8 rounds packages of slugs that I decided to make use of not to mention the 4 juicy steaks he had in his backpack. In between blasting zeds with the shotgun I was scarfing down steaks. My vision slowly blurred a little less and I had regained some energy. I asked again over the walkie if anyone was coming and they said they were in the center of town. Just then I heard automatic weapons fire and explosions going off. The walkie talkie went dead and I decided it was time to head north out of town. Luckily on my way into the hills I spotted two cows grazing in a field and stumbled up to them and shot them both, gutted them and took more meat than I could carry. I cooked it all up, feasted and rested and thanked that poor bastard in the apartments for the second lease on life. R.I.P. Shotgun man on Australian 2 server. You saved me and I owe you one.

I have had the same bug logging in sometimes to be bleeding. The worst was on the U.S. 3 or NYC 3 server with no Third Person I couldn't see the blood squirting out of my neck and didn't realize I was loosing blood until my screen went grey lol. Now I make sure to check the moniter first thing for blood loss upon login. Such is life in the zone. P.S. remind me never to go near where you guys camp with Thermal Scoped .50 sniper rifles and multiple pairs of NVG's. Doesn't seem exactly fair to me but whatever. I guess the reward for camping a gear respawn spot at an airfield for multiple hours should be the best stuff that give other players absolutely no chance to fight back against. Best I have found is a range finder binoculars I looted off a dead player (whom I found that way). Such is life in the zone...I guess. Seems like an iWin button to me.

I want to piggyback off my original topic of pistols to include Shotguns. The Winchester far outperforms the Remington 870. The Remington has the piss poor ball sight as compared to the accurate Winchester dovetail sights. Also the Remington 870 only holds 8 when compared to the Winchesters 15 rounds and they are weapon specific. The Remington 870 does have the advantage of the flashlight (which would go a long ways to helping noobs to see). I would argue that making the Remington 870 more common and making the Winchester more of a rare epic drop would enhance gameplay.

Who run Bartertown? Dammit, I told you, no more embargos. Remember where you are - this is DayZ, and death is listening, and will take the first man that screams.

I think I have figured out how to fix this. After consuming cooked meat killing a zombie seems to do a statistic save on the servers and the cooked meat health is no longer disappearing. I tried it both ways eating cooked meat and logging off and then eating cooked meat, killing zombies and then logging off. Might just be a coincidence, might not. Maybe someone else could test this as well. It seems to fix this though.

I hope you do not mind if I piggyback off your post Griff but speaking of crossbows I wouldn't mind having a red dot scope attached to it. I can handle the delay, and the low body shot damage but it is hella hard to aim with the crossbow to get that critical headshot. I have seen most of the crossbows sold at my local sporting goods stores sporting red dots and some even 2X and 4X magnification scopes on them. I have trouble finding one without any sort of optic on it. Retrieving bolts is pretty impressive. I am glad that is in game. I have found some pretty long range misses stuck into the ground and walls. I am a pretty piss poor shot with it lol.

Yeah I miss all buildings being enterable as well. I would LOVE to see a custom map made for this mod. If any game ever deserved a custom map it is DAYZ! I DON'T miss the endless desert in Takistan. Nor do I miss the dirty Takis. The Takis wipe their butts with their hands and don;t use toilet paper. Can you imagine the staff infection you would get being bitten by a Taki zombie?

I swear to god I heard a boat driving near the coast of Elektro last night. I swear I heard it! I was under fire from a sniper so I couldn't go out and check. I am pretty sure that boats ARE in the game! Someone said they saw a harrier spawn last night. Maybe they were BSing me, not sure.

My own thoughts and reservations regarding the impending morality system
bodycount replied to Goose Springsteen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem is this game provides unlimited resources for griefers and general asshattery. Gather some food/water, climb onto of a roof at night and snipe anything carrying a flare. They will never see your name, know where the shot came from or have anyway to defend/prevent this type of action. Once you do get this person cornered and lay some fire onto them attempt to move in and take them out they disconnect and transfer servers and do it to some more people. As it stands now this mod is the ultimate grieving game that I have ever played. People kill just for killing. Not to defend bases or supply points, not kill to steal items but kill just to kill like call of doody. Can you at least make some non PvP servers? I would really like to try the game out without having to worry about someone sniping me just to snipe me for no reason other than for the lulz and l337ness. You have got the Project Reality fall backs, the Life mod players who can finally grief at will without having to worry about being kicked, and you are throwing them all in with people who want to try out a good zombie RPG. Are we playtesting an Alpha or playing call of doody 8 grief mode extreme edition? -
Maybe put those gas cans to use fueling generators to provide electricity to a town for a few hours/per can. Would be pretty cool and neat to see. I have seen generators around in the game I am pretty sure as models.

How about a Quarantine zone? Something akin to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. where you could recruit people, trade, re-arm re-supply, get/sell food water gear sell locations of items etc.
