    Stable Update 1.09

Vehicles seem to be the major elephant in the room. In the status report from the beginning of the year they were briefly mentioned but we have heard nothing since. Can we get any information on that front? If there is nothing that can be done then fine, but never addressing it and acting like that piece of the game is fine is not cool. Please give us some insight!

The role of the Zombie in Dayz

    Why the sarcasm?

The role of the Zombie in Dayz

Thats fine and all but unlike fps optimization and mitigation of desync zombies are a core element of this game. I argue that the base system, as is everything at this point in development, needs an overhaul not polishing.

The role of the Zombie in Dayz

I noticed you mentioned Arma3, what do you play on that exactly, I have been trying to figure out how to play exile for the longest time? I have the add-on but I can't find a server, most require a bunch of different addons correct?
  5. There has been something on my mind for a while that I would like to discuss with the community and the devs. I posted this to reddit earlier but haven't gotten a good response so i figured i'd re-post it here and see what you all had to say: With all of the hype surrounding the upcoming exp patch .60, I have been wondering moving forward what is going to be done about zombies. To my knowledge they are being reworked, but I am not really sure what that means. I know the dynamic spawning system for them is being worked out, however my questions relates to the level of danger they present to the player. More numbers will surely make the game more interesting, but I feel that more needs to be done to make them a real threat. I know I am not the first person to air this concern, but I have played Dayz since the mod days and I have yet to hear anything that has made me go, " Huh that will really change game play." I remember at the beginning of development all of the green screening and animation work that was being done, was it ever implemented or is it still in the workshop? I'm just looking for clarification and discussion! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Most can stop reading here and simply reply to what I posted above but I'd like to write about my experiences in the mod and my personal suggestion to fix zombies, and if you'd like to respond to this as well feel free. Mod Experience The first time I played the mod I knew I had stumbled on something amazing. Clunky, laggy, and shaky as it what there was a certain allure that consistently had me coming back for more in light of all the inherent issues that were present. My general play style had me starting on the coast as a bambi, doing my best to avoid zombies, getting just enough supplies to survive as I headed north ( matches, axe, knife etc..) It was hard to just get those supplies together because the zombies were a real threat to players just starting out. I knew that if I could get those supplies I could survive in the north long enough to get to a military installation and get a decent rifle/ammo. However, even then the zombie threat level still hindered us from readily gathering supplies and repairing/obtaining vehicles. The SA really lacks this element, however, that said, everything else has improved ten fold. I could care less about FPS and desync as I know they are being worked on(.60 looks great btw) and they will most definitely be improved in the future. However, the zombie element still seems to be a gray area without any real additional discussion going on. I am not asking for op zombies , but I want to feel as if I cant just stroll through elektro. Sure we calculate our moves based on where we think players are but I want zombies to pose that same threat. I want to feel like if I enter a city or town I am risking what I have because the zombies. I think a lot of players, especially those who enjoy the pve element of this game can sympathize with this. My Suggestion to Fix the Zombie Issue Rather than go on and on about what I feel is wrong with the zombies I'd like to offer a suggestion. I think game play would change a lot if we had a tiered system of zombies. Meaning that similar to the way loot is distributed(rarity) certain zombies were more powerful than others. We as players wouldn't know which zombies had increased attack/speed but it would deter us from believing that all we had to do was trounce through a city slashing with our axe. Increased numbers are definitely going to be a plus but making a few zombies better than others would make a player think twice about just running around in a city/town all willy-nilly. Perhaps more of these powerful zombies could be present at military locations, or around crash sites. Thoughts?
  6. I'd like to be others, non bandits who play...and perhaps form a sort of clan : D ! I am a friendly, my friend and i are currently in possession of a working helicopter message me or comment if you'd like to join! Skype will be required for trust purposes obviously

    NOOB SURVIVAL GUIDE

DAYZ SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR NOOBS! (I assume you know the basic game controls) PART 1: Holy crap where am I? Okay , deep breath here, look at the bottom right hand corner of your screen as you spawn in, it’s going to be a weird name, try to remember it or write it down quick it’ll only be there for a matter of seconds. Now press ctrl alt delete and get to your internet browser and input this link:http://dayzdb.com/map#2.096.078 -Generally speaking your spawn point with be on the southern coast somewhere around the two major southern coastal cities of Cherno and Elektro. Find your location and head to the either Elektro or to Cherno whichever is closer. Part 2: OMFG There are Zombies everywhere!!!!! Slow your role now! Zombies should never be a worry as long as you can run they will never catch you unless you corner yourself, zig zagging in an around objects and buildings will cause them to stop chasing you, in cities you can either crawl or crouch to try and avoid detection, shooting a gun will cause noise and simply attract more zombies, if you have to fight a few use a silenced gun or a melee weapon. If there’s a horde , three or more chasing you run ! Part 3: Hey look over there, there are some other people maybe we can be friends : D ! Don’t even think about it you nooby, people unlike zombies will actually kill you, just to be jerks. I’ve died so many times from senseless ambushes and slaughters, when I had literally nothing on me! STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM OTHER HUMANS UNLESS YOU KNOW THEM PERSONALLY. This sad fact will be a major key to your survival and success in this apocalyptic world. Part 4: What will I need to survive and where will I find it? Knowing what you need and where to find it will benefit you tenfold in this game. It took me five lives to realize before I enter a military installation I better have some type of fucking weapon. So lets Break this down for you: -Food, can be found in residences but the best places are grocery stores in either cherno or elektro -Drink, same as food - Clothes? NO WTF this isnt about looks -Medical supplies, okay here is a huge one hospitals will obvs be your best option to get into one you can break the glass by either shooting it or breaking it with a melee weapon, they supplies will be on the roof of the hospital as well. The supplies are in cardboard boxes. Bloodbags are only useful if you have friends with you cause you cannot use them on yourself( instead you can eat food to heal health), take morphine auto injectors in case you break a bone, epi pens are useless unless your with friends, bandages are a big one, and maybe one or two heat packs for the occasional rare case of hypothermia. I have had it once in the course of 200 hours of game play. -Weapons, THIS IS HUGE , okay easiest way are firehouse on the top floor, there’s usually an ak or an enfield (also known as the dinner bell you can guess why once you shoot it lol) get an axe as well, they can be found almost anywhere so just look everywhere. As you head north or even on the coast you can check in military installations for weapons, the air field to the west of Cherno generally has some good stuff, the best places are north . -Survival Gear, A hunting knife and a box of matches and a water bottle, these three things will allow you to survive in the wilds of the north without the need to scavenge the larger cities. Part 5: Hey this is some awesome stuff but I cant fit it all in my bag :/ Hey newsflash! There are bigger bags, GROCERY STORE GROCERY STROE GROCERY STORE, I can’t say it enough times! The one in elektro I have found generally to have more bags, the czech vest pouch ( the czech backpack is okay though its only slightly larger) is the only one smaller than the pack you start with so don’t fucking pick it up! Part 6: Okay cool I have a weapon, a bigger bag, some food and medical supplies now what? If you have gotten this far you are now a seasoned player, with much experience to gain before attaining a vet status but your still better off than a nooby, you can fix a vehicle, you can head north on foot going north will yield better finds such as cars and atvs and much much more. At this point the game is your oyester ( corny ik) but get out there a be a productive player, and don’t you hack and good luck : D!
