I will admit here that i did not play arma b4 dayz/ i started when unique players was at 52k, there weren't alot of wikis and such. But i was able to get a chenarus map on my smartphone and with a compass i did a pretty good job of finding my way thanks to the boy scouts. Mind you im 42 and it all came back to me like it was yesterday. Then a couple days ago after being a lone wolf for too long i i started looking into the different teamspeak sites and found out about waypoints. I'm glad i learned the hard way first. what about you? do you look at the map and compass or a gps baby? (i dont mean that in a mean way, many teens were born after gps was invented)

So my current character is about to hit day 40. 150 zeds down 0 murders, 1 bandit kill. i have everything i could want, and i have more in tents all across the map. Ive been working on fixing an atv. to be honest though, i think i have "survived" long enuff. i have no interest in finding out the hard way not to help people.so i am left with two choices, continue my passive ways, or turn to the dark side and hunt people. i am one those people that will feel bad after i kill someone in cold blood, but i have several sniper rifles that talk to me in my sleep. seriously, any ideas? what should i do now?

lol, i would quote everyone above me if i could. the vote is hunt bandits, yes i think i will , broken mechanic or not (pls fix it soon rocket!) :edit: i only have the free fraps sorry, i will work on that as well

hiyas, i used to play on ny8 quite a bit. my advice would be to make a list prospects, playable , trusted try to find servers hosted by owners that can be tracked down, i.e.either in the server info or by google. use their teamspeak too actively talk to them. thats the best advice i can give, so good i oughta charge =P

dsl or cable? if dsl , try hooking up one at a time, o and just to make sure, you have installed the mod and arma beta , havent you?

could be several things, ive heard some servers do not properly save, and ive heard you need to wait 10-20 mins b4 logging so the central server saves your progress. i'm not an expert,so i might be blowing smoke up your dress, but thats what ive heard.

so exactly how many posts are you going to ridicule before you say something worthwhile?

were you the one with the table candle lit, or the one with unlit 3 wick?

welcome. just remember zeds are spawned by player proximity (200 m) if you are <200m it means someone else is or has been there. different weapons have different audible volumes some can be heard from far away some cant, for instance the axe is silent, while the einfeld will attract everything around you. good hunting!

You know what this game needs? Can openers. I can see it now finding a dead player with a can sized indention on his forehead from trying to open a can the hard way. :D

i lost a coyote bp in the glitches of 1.7.2 (put on a camo lost everything except my toolbelt) as my character was on 18 days or so and i still had my toobelt, i kept playing. there is a little fun in playing without a bp, you are constantly on the move for water, conservation is key. and with no basis in fact, my opinion is more people will leave you alone, especially if you not brandishing some high quality primary.

good show on 18 days, i died once from not scanning my surroundings well enuff, i feel your pain. but as someone else in another thread pointed out , this isnt merely a video game where you die and move on, this is a learning experience. you dont merely die and move on , you consume the experience, learn from it and (hopefully) avoid it next time.

day 32 here, played the game since player count was only 50k, on 5 respawns total. i know exactly how you feel.there aint no way in hell im going to the major cities until i die, (lone wolf), so while im off in the woods somewhere, miles from anyone, i think alot about where im going to go when i do finally lose this character.
