Melee Weapons Ideas (Megathread) Post your ideas
Exenima replied to Robert Shannon's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Lets get back to basics. Anyone played manhunt? Jesus, one of the most gruesome games in history. Speculating on that though, what about plastic bags? wrap it around someones head, they'll sufficate, and it's something basic you could find anywhere. It'll make no noise and would be an effective weapon. Of course this would be impractical to use on Zeds, but i think it could really amp up some awesome PvP combat. -
Salvaging my DayZ ideas from June 2011 and March 2012
Exenima replied to Bearded McGee's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea's, but especially the melee with weapons idea. I would love for a zombie to get too close and i can hit it back with the butt of my weapon. It just seems so practical, but of course with an Arma 2 engine i don't think it's possible at the moment. The funny thing is, i use to pistol whip the shit out of everyone in the original CoD, but developers seem not to recycle the idea anymore. I hope your idea's get built on, you have my beans good sir. -
I don't think you know how much training the seals actually undergo.

Wouldn't this fuck their day haha

I just read the title of this post again, "Fist Fun"? Not a good way to start a thread.

RE: Rocket announcement of new feature at PAX

I weep for humanity. -
There is no way that hacking will be completely abolished from the current DayZ. I mean, it is in Alpha. All we can do at the moment is sit tight and wait for the standalone, and hopefully we don't get the same issue.

I agree, entirely, +100 beans

Okay so, a lot of people bought the game Arma 2 just because of the DayZ mod was on it, and i think it's great, but i think that people should be rewarded for buying both the game and expansion just to play the mod, so here's my idea. In the lead up to the standalone being released, i think that all the people that own Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead on Steam, should be able to get the Standalone for a reduced price, as we have already bascially bought the game. It's just an idea, but it would be great if the players who already payed $30 just to play DayZ, had to fork up another expenditure to buy the standalone. As i said it's just an idea, and i hope it gets taken into consideration, but i know that a lot of loyal customers would agree that it would make their lives easier. So as i was saying, in the lead up to the release of the standalone, maybe each steam player who has bought the game should get a special code, which they can write into when purchasing the new standalone, and by using this code it reduces the cost of the retail version by a certain percentage the developers see fit. Anyway's, just take my words into consideration.

What's wrong with Aussies?

It's in Alpha. That is all.
-
Dude, not everyone can fork out $30 everytime they try to make another game.

It isn't impossible to have two primary weapons? If you had two primary's that took the same rounds then having a second primary is a great idea, and i think they're implementing this idea into the standalone. -
Oh i misses the bow and arrow, i like this idea, it should be considered, but i think it already has

1. I don't mind this idea, it could work pretty well, i wouldn't mind sliding down a fireman pole haha. 2. Not a bad idea, may be a little over the top though, i don't know if rocket will put that in. 3. I like this idea, but i think we can expand on it. Maybe some special forces zip lining? for organised raids and other things, this would amp up the game a little. 4. I think this one has already been considered. Poisonous gases and other maiming gases are getting put into the standalone. 5. Pretty sure this has been considered too, and i think they're going to put them in. 6. I don't see much purpose in this one, the majority of people aren't going to swim too often i think. 7. This one.. Well, lets think survival. Do segways really make a very big impact? I think this is a bit too far. 8. I don't know about this either, it wouldn't make a difference. If a bandit was going to kill you at the Airfield, they'd just snipe you off, they wouldn't bother going through a meatal detector 9. I don't know about this, does it really serve a purpose? Apart from scaring people of course. 10. No, I don't think this should happen. Killing vehicles needs to be harder then auto-locking missles. 11. No, i don't really like the idea of go karts, i think we just stick to conventional vehicles. Go karts make it feel.. more animated i guess.

I like the idea. But i think he should be constantly running through the towns, looking for that one thing, and once he finds it he drops to his knee's, smiles, and hold's it up to the sky in victory, and that thing is his beans. -
Duping gone please, ruining the game.
Exenima replied to JimmyMeatsock's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Then what enjoyment do you get out of the game? Whats the fun in knowing you have a whole bunch of duped weapons back at base? It's people like you that kill this game. Honestly, i don't know why people get a kick out of duping weapons, a big part of the game is just finding them, and risking your life to finding them, and if you're just going to dupe them.. Well, go back to your CoD then. -
Don't do this. There's nothing i love more then to pull the piss out of a few Americans, Us Aussie's are notorious for that ;)

Respawn in the same spot if you die within 10 minutes
Exenima replied to agippo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, you're punishing the bandit style of play then, if normal survivors can pick a spawn point then bandits should be able to aswell. -
So i've been thinking, and well, how many random weapons do you find that all work flawlessly? I mean, there has to be some with missing parts and other malfunctions. Rocket says he want to incorperate crafting into the game, which is a great idea, but i think part of this should incorperate the rebuilding and repairing of weapons. For example, you find a gun, along with a couple of rounds and you think all is well, but, there is something wrong with it, the firing pin is missing and it is unable to fire. To make the weapon fireable again, you must find some scrap metal and craft a new firing pin, and attach it to the gun. I feel as if this would intensify the game, and give it a more survival-like feel. Weapons need to be constantly maintained and looked after, so if you woke up in a post-apocolyptic world, i think a fair few of the weapons will need to be repaired and made up to scratch. I'm just throwing it out there, i don't think anyone has thought of this yet. So yeah, just give me your thoughts.

How To Increase FPS/Smooth Out The Game
Exenima replied to March1's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Nothing works. I can't combine it into the launch sequence, and for some reason the DayZ mod doesn't download into the Operation Arrowhead folder, It downloads to a user data folder in documents. I've tried quite of number of different ways, but nothing seems to work. -
Do you know how easily you break/fracture your hand IRL? Punching could be a good idea, but i think it could have some consequences, like broken and fractured hands/knuckles/wrists.

So simalar in a way to dog tags?
-
Not entirely; I killed a zombie yesterday and it gave me a canteen, empty, but stll, what sort of zombie carries around one of those?
-
I just love the fact that hatchets need to be reloaded. Ever been in this scenario? Player 1- There's some good loot on the other side of those zombies, lets take em' all out. Player 2- brb reloading my hatchet
