Make it Darker, Colder and more Russianesque

Sarcasm? -
What sort of enjoyment do you get from killing players? Eugh, people like you..
-
Neither, i wouldn't shoot at all. But looking from a bandit perspective, i guess you're right, I'd go for the hero. But bandits usually travel in groups, so the probability of both surviving is unlikely. I just don't want to punish the bandit style of play, i'm not a bandit myself, but i know a few of them who don't kill fresh spawns and don't shoot on sight.
-
It's better then having some over powered jet screaming through the air. I like the idea, and i'd also like to see someone trying to shoot it out of the sky, it would be great.
-
So shoot them first? Correct me if i'm wrong but killing a bandit does not add to your murder rate, and you don't lose any humanity from this. So seek them out, Kill them, Take their shit. Bandits don't get any perks, so why should hero's?
-
I've already discussed and argued about this with another player. If a train is implemented, i will personally make it my life goal to drive a bus into the side of the train, tipping it over and killing you all. Then i will T-Bag your bodies in my moment of victory.
-
Bandit Medics? Heals all the bandits, aquires a hero skin, dies, respawns with a perk only to help the bandit's. Plus. i don't agree with punishing the bandit style of play, although they're annoying, they're just playing the game along with everyone else. There are no rule's stating that being a bandit is bad. Something to justify the effort of becoming a hero? The hero skin.

It would be amazing, but it would take years and years and years to produce. Not to mention the detailing and developing they'd have to do to create such a map. But i agree, expansion has a limit, and having earth as one big map would be far too big. The only way i could see to get around would be maybe finding planes and such, and maybe after getting past a certain border you go into a loading screen and into a new continent. But this would honestly take too long, and you'd need the worlds best developers along with google just to even start this, and i'm sure they're all busy with developy and googly things.

Nice, i love it when admins and hackers get demolished haha. The official servers have been suggested and they're putting them into the standalone, so rocket and his development crew will be admins and not abusing the rights they have. Again, nice kill, you have my beans for that :)

That means dying becomes more frequent, people get frustrated and eventually say "Fuck this i wanna play CoD".

Look, i'm not trying to be some internet elitist asshole, but you have to look at it from a certain point of view. I don't mind your idea's, and honestly the Russian winter map sounds like a great idea, i just have issues with a train being in DayZ. I mean sure, PvP would become more intense as people would be fighting over who gets to use it, and hitting a zombie would be halarious, but i dunno, what are the chances of a fully functioning train being in DayZ? Sure, people would be dedicated to getting it running again, and it would be great, but if such an idea were to be implemented, there would have to be some major overhauling of the train, like the train would break down half the time, and players would need to find the parts to restore it. I guess it's an idea, but we'll see what happens. -
Building your own gun, something for the standalone.

I just want bayonets. Why is this so hard. -

You do realise how much studying goes behind running and driving a locomotive right? Wouldn't there be trains already on the tracks, abandoned as the apocolypse started? Wouldn't some prior skill be needed to actually drive a train? It just lacks the fundamentals of DayZ. Trains are too big, too obtuse. You would just be an even bigger target. You can wipe out everything prior, everything prior means nothing. You can't have certain luxuries like a working train system in a zombie apocolypse. And i agree, constantly finding fuel at petrol stations isn't too realistic, but then again, that's like saying once a weapon is picked up it no longer spawns, once the ammunition is used there is no more. Without the ever-spawning items DayZ would fall into itself. and cease to exist as a game. -
Bringing us back to how interacting with players and being in a group can help you considerably, as they can find you anti-biotics and medicine to fight the infection. I'm liking this idea.
-
If more snipers are to be introduced, the dev's need to do something about the current mechanics behind sniping, and make it more realistic. Otherwise we're just going to have some more assholes with better weapons.
-
I'm pretty sure Rocket himself has already decided this would be implemented in the standalone in an interview. I don't know if it's appeared on the forums, but im fairly sure that it's already been considered and is being used as an idea.

No, This can't happen. The game is about survival. A train isn't going to run in a post apocolyptic wasteland full of zombies, you have to think about this. Who's driving the train? Who's providing the train with power? And besides, if there were to be a train, bandits would camp up in the tree-line and wait for players to get off, only to snipe the shit out of them before they walk 10 metres. -
Why limit a server to a select group of countries though? There's nothing i like doing more then playing with a few American blokes, it just adds diversity to the game. Even if there is a language barrier, it shouldn't determine who gets to play a server and who doesn't. Language barriers happen in every day life, and i think it adds to the whole sandbox feel of the game if you ask me.

Seems rational to me, this is supposed to depict real life. Have my beans sir.

I downloaded and played the game, it's incredibly fucking hard.

Most of these suggestions have been discussed before. The soviet regime is over, and although corrupt officials along with the government still thrive in Russia, basically everything that resembles communism has been destroyed. It is modern day Russia, Rocket has confirmed that. I don't think the dev's will implement a new setting though, they've already put time into making the standalone. Don't get me wrong, i think there will be some snowy sections of the map, possibly even a whole map that is based on a Russian winter, but i guess we'll just have to wait until the standalone is released. -
I think DayZ was an experiment, a successful one at that, and you have to keep in mind that the mod is still in ALPHA. No new mod will be produced, as the standalone is being produced as we speak. Minor mod updates will occur but until the standalone is released, sit tight and wait. There's no point in creating another stable mod until the standalone is out and they have time for it.

Sattlelite phones. It's a basic tool of survival.
-
What becomes of you after you become a zombie though? Do you control it, do you die after a certain amount of time? If you were to just wander around aimlessly without control, people would stop playing the game due to boredom. I know i certainly wouldn't stick around if i were unable to control my character who just keep's wandering around, who needs to be killed to play again.
-
Why gangs though? I don't agree with this. I agree with clans and groups of survivors, but to class them as "gangs".. nah. Like i suggested in my first thread, to be a recognised person of a particular group, maybe implement arm bands or patches on your vest, but bandana's and stuff.. well, you get the idea.
