Direct Chat 4TW! I don't care for gear, I gear up depending on what I feel like doing and this can give me hideously impractical load-outs. If I die I respawn and after a few minutes of gameplay I'm geared again =D If I see someone first I'll make my merry way over to them, trying to keep them totally ignorant of my existence until I'm within direct chat range. Once there I try and have them in my view so I can monitor their reaction to me and call out to them. You can tell by their reaction as to their intentions and then as they don't know where you are you are in a position to come out and meet them, drift back into the undergrowth or if they're now on a rampage for your mortal remains, kill them. No bullshit, 90% of the players I have encountered in this way have been friendly, even in situations in which the other guy had the upper hand and both of us are fully geared you can calm the other guy down and both can leave alive. There are plenty of videos on youtube and stories on here of exactly these encounters.

Most 'bandit' snipers can't shoot a moving target so will only engage you when stationary or moving in a straight line. Try being really unpredictable in your movements, stay in as much cover as possible and only stop to pick up crap you want, if it doesn't look like what you want don't waste time standing near it. Each time they fire and miss is another clue as to their location helping you evade them further and also attracting others to the gunfire. Near the buildings in the airfield you're also going to be buried under server hopper guano so you just want to be on really high alert.

Really nice video man! Hope you're guys were on danger money for that central Chernogorsk job!!

Attempted fix for crashes after joining a server
strayshadow replied to $able's topic in Troubleshooting
I re-installed DayZ after I had the crash bug from the last maintenance and it fixed it, though my game has just crashed about an hour ago after about 2 hours of play. Think I may have something else! -
Reason why Bandits rise and heroes die.

I put this to music and danced naked with it playing. A group of 5-12 people so butt hurt all they can do is rage kill everyone =D It's beautiful! -
'It's my server so fuck you' I think his asshat has slipped a bit too low. The thing I always wonder with people like this is what they are getting out of it. He sounded so hollow and dead.

I got all artsy with it, inspired by some of the other screenshots =)

If it was in a building one of your deaths could have been down to a server hopper but they tend to be given away when their weapons reload =/ I'd just wait till I was away from the city and in a nice comfortable hedge before eating and see if your luck improves.

I always pick-up paper just in case it is a note someone has written! Though so far I've not found one. I hope more people do take to leaving messages =D

I think I had the same, my game would crash a few seconds after I had joined the server. It would load up but would freeze at a point when the models have loaded and everything had really low-rez textures on. The game would then lock up completely. I had previously had an error 'Corrupted Data Detected' which had force closed my game... So I'm assuming that's to blame and downloading the game again today to see if that clears it up.

My character seems to be bugged at the moment, game crashes as soon as I hear my weapons reload so I'm occupying my time with silliness! I think some of you may also find this amusing =) I think they're in pursuit of a Golden Axe =D

My current incarnation, also trying to get an all in black costume! Looking forward to the addition of the black helmet. Still a pretty young character, no scope yet!

I've always quite liked Green Mountain, passed through it today and consumed a meal while overlooking Chernarus from the top platform. There is something very distant and tranquil about it despite the utter madness around that little metal island.

If you find servers behaving like this report them! So DayZ is DayZ, you see people and it's up to you what you do next, snog, marry, avoid etc... 'Don't kill me, I'm weapon farming' 'I love my gear too much' These servers always make me chuckle, without the constant threat of an encounter turning sour or looking out for that roaming bandit group it becomes a rather dull collect-a-thon with the occasional bopping a visually impaired zombie on the head with something heavy. I just don't get what they do next. Collect top gear and then go join a different server to kill people? Seems a bit unfair. Zombies are really not threatening right now so I don't see any point in claiming PvE. If you want to play with friendly people join a clan or trial and error with strangers you come across. Better yet, load up with gear and return to the beach with weapons, food and elusive can-openers to get new spawns started. You're playing DayZ. So play DayZ! Anyway, thoughts and flamers go ahead.

I think this thread could do with being closed, it's turned into poop slinging.

I didn't realize these servers were breaking the rules when I made this post originally. I was just thinking if you don't want to die but just pick stuff up why are you playing DayZ in the first place? Anyway, I know now and hopefully others who were as ignorant as me have seen this and are now also aware that these servers are on the naughty list. 1S1K-Airborne you've bought a game, games have predetermined rules. You don't pay to ride a bus then take over the drivers seat...

They do... it's up to the PLAYER to make those decisions.

I was reading up on Chernarus lore and came across something quite interesting, though how well it would translate into gameplay. The game appears to take Chernarus as it is at the time of the events of Arma 2, with ChDKZ, UN and Chernarus Defense Force berets and equipment available in game at present. During this time the wiki* for Chernarus states 'Visiting the former military areas isn't forbidden, but due to large numbers of unexploded ordnance as well as the decayed conditions of the buildings it is not recommended.' I'm not suggesting giving the player land mines as this has come up many times already, but having unexploded weapons littered around following the civil war and the zombie infection. These would be passive and detonate when disturbed by a clumsy player or a well led zombie, something extra for players to watch out for or utilize. The airfields have to be among the most visited locations so a little extra something to make players pay attention even if just server hopping. Though you could argue that the Zombies milling around would be a pretty good way of clearing UXBs! =D Think I just invalidated my own suggestion =/ *https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Chernarus

Grabbing, dragging and carrying other people already exists as part of the medevac inside Arma 2. It's already been done and works fine in massive CTI battles so I can't see it not working on DayZ.

I think the idea of a Sandbox game is it's down to the imagination of the players...

Making Bandits shoot each other. I found this more amusing than anything else. I was making my way along the beach after respawning and noticed a guy with a gun chasing what appeared to be another unarmed newspawn. I decided to try and help him by beating up the guy with the rifle =D Go go Justice Rangers! But as I got closer the unarmed guy spotted me and turned around... turns out they were together and he actually had a sawn-off hidden away. Undeterred by what was rapidly becoming a very terminal experience I decided to beat the snot out of them. Another one of them appeared wielding an axe and tried to have a go at me as well. Now with a shotgun, rifle and an axe swinging around I thought I was screwed but it turned out they had absolutely no idea what they were doing. After several reloads not one of them had hit me and the axe guy was bleeding! Why are Bandits usually so frigging awful? I decided to turn this against them. I ran around the guy with the shotgun in a tight circle, the axe guy trying to follow me around him in classic Benny Hill fashion, swung his axe and hit the guy with the shotgun, then the guy with the rifle fired and shot the guy with the axe dead. With one dead and one dying I went for the guy with the rifle but this time he got me. I spawned again only a few hundred meters away and went to have a look at the carnage and maybe recover some loot! Sneaking along beside the railway line I almost tripped over a sniper in full gear carefully overlooking the spot I had been killed at. There in the road were the bodies of the guy with the rifle and the guy with the shotgun. I sat and watched him until he had departed then looted what remained on the bodies. Now I had learned the sawn-off shotgun was totally hidden when stowed I took this from a body and left to go and get held up again. After passing Cherno I was attacked again, this time by a guy with a Machete. It was one of the asshats who had previously tried to mug me and as he approached spurting his stupid demands I drew the shotgun and gave him a wave. But in typical DayZ fashion I was then shot and killed =D So really I achieved nothing but it was really funny at the time!

Ah! Too true! I had written it in a silly tongue in cheek style, I didn't expect it to come under quite so much scrutiny =P I shall use the Harvard system in future!

I've just met two silly "bandits"

Glad you survived that, sounds like a pretty cool experience!
