It's not the L85 but the optic mounted on it The Thermal sight is a complete no-brainer and completely denies any sense of stealth of camouflage against someone using it Scope in, turn 360°, bam, everything organic lights up like a christmas tree - 100% no brainer Combined with a .50 sniper it makes for a real simple cookie cutter setup that basically everyone uses once he is able to get his hands on both weapons Look through your thermal optic like a maniac, light everything up that glows bright white on it NVG's still require you to use your eyes to spot potential enemies, thermal does not Just remove it and add an ACOG L85 instead

The motherload! My M107 went out of my backpack into my hand Zeroed in, took the first shot - dead pickup driver falling out of the door Second shot, dead bus driver falling onto the ground So far so good, here comes the "good person" part I spared the guy with the ATV and told him to grab what he wants and get the hell out before I poke a hole into his chest with my lovely rifle It actually led to those 2 morons believing him to be a traitor who set them up After calling me a complete psycho he proceeded to loot a shiny AS50 from the corpses and moved on - so much for his white knight hero skin Lacking only 2 rounds in my magazine I decided to log out for the day after driving another 3km with my bycicle

From the limited amount of gameplay I've watched on youtube so far I've noticed the following: -Zombie AI that makes DayZ zombies look pretty damn smart and dangerous -A full array of weapons that look, sound and feel like airsoft guns -Ridiculous drum mags, laser sights and scopes for the array of airsoft guns -Weapons customization UI stolen right out of Crysis -Hitmarkers -Abundance of HATS(Team Fortress 2 anyone?) -Safe Zones I could barely prevent my nipples from bursting by the sheer amount of quality gameplay DayZ killer right there!

How To: Get fully geared within 30 minutes: So I didn't play for the last 3 months and decided to update and get back to playing DayZ yesterday The last time I left the game I had a fully decked out character with M4 Holo and M107 Now to my disappointment it seems like my character vanished in the course of 3 months, so I was on a clean character again when I first loaded the game Decided to relog just in case the HIVE didn't update properly, to no avail The server then decided to kill me, put me into the debug ocean and respawn me on the coast with no backpack Oh well....great Spawned near Cherno and decided to head right into it considering that I actually had nothing to loose Grabbed a Leeroy Enfield and went into the firestation just to get blown up by a satchel charge placed by some random moron Didn't give a shit and spawned in Kamenka After fending off a horde of zombies with the hatchet I noticed a ghillie sniper casually driving up to me and picking off zombies Turned out he was the dude who blew me up in Cherno So it was me, bleeding quite badly because I never used an axe before against zombies, and the nameless ghillie who just saved my ass He then dropped his Coyote Backpack, with an SVD Camo inside, onto the ground and told me to pick it up Oh and he gave me the bike too while apologizing for blowing me up back in Cherno We split ways and I headed towards my old camping spot As I entered Sosnovka I noticed a white pickup truck and a dead body next to it, I went to investigate NVGs, Rangefinder, Knife, Matches, Map, GPS and a shitton of ammo for weapons that I didn't have....noice! Went on to my camping spot, regrouped with a mate who didn't lose his character even though he was inactive for 3 months too 200m next to our meeting spot we noticed a large flame - hurray for helicopter crash sites M14 AIM - check M107 - check Camo clothing - check All within 30 minutes, didn't even need a single soda can

To cover a range from 0-800m with max. effectiveness I'd take the M14AIM+DMR Both use the same ammo, leaving you more space in your backpack Ammo can be found in every deerstand Both deal 8.000 damage, hard-hitters in PvP M14 is pinpoint accurate and a CQB workhorse DMR can be used with NVGs

Unless you have a DMR with a crosshair-enabled server you're not going to win in CQB while using a sniper rifle
