I have been considering different ways of implementing permanent storage into the Dayz environment. The most popular concept I have been reading is the idea of undeground bunkers, I think this is relevant and awesome....heres how it could work. Players must have appropriate tools to dig and construct bunker. Bunkers produce a mound of dirt or a cover or something to distinguish it on the ground to other players. Players are able to "harvest" shrubs or something like that bring them as cover for their entrance. It is crucial to the game to not have a situation where actions are available to some players and not to others, there is no ownership beyond what you have and can protect. What I mean is, all players must be able to enter all bunkers. This is where, I think, things can get pretty awesome. If a bandit enters the bunker of a non-bandit(or someone meeting the required humanity level to be deemed friendly or honorable) all non-bandits(or possibly just other bunker owning non-bandits) are given a global server message with the general location of the intrusion(map grid coords would be fine I think). This would simulate a homegrown security network or something. Bandits can own bunkers as well, however they are not afforded the global server message if their bunker is being intruded. Perhaps they could be given a personal message if they are logged into the server or perhaps the hive. This would be the price bandits pay for their lifestyle. Players also have the ability to booby trap their entrance, however the ability to disarm the trap is not exlusive to them(anyone can do it) and could require tools. If a bunker owner is lacking those tools they cannot re-enter their bunker safely until they find them again. What do you guys think?
