Lots of admins insta ban to keep their server private for them and their buddies. They can't password them because it is against the rules so they bend the rules. However, no one seems to give a damn. I have seen no effort to reel in these morons and make them stop. Admins ban instantly for no reason, they kick players that kill them and restart servers over and over to spawn helis. But nothing is ever done. DayZ is pretty cool, but not cool enough for me to put up with admin abuse and the DayZ folks just ignore it.

I am curious about instant admin bans. It seems there are some admins that ban everyone that logs in so they can keep the server private without breaking any rules and passwording it. I have logged onto at least 4 servewrs and was insta banned by an admin for no reason. I know there was no reason because I had never been on the server before. I was trying a few servers to find one that had a decent ping and wasn't crap and gave my low FPS. I have 2 main servers I play on now because I'm scared of the dark, but when my servers are down or not updated yet, I have to find a server to play on. So I have to live in fear of spawning with no gear on the coast, dying upon server entry or insta admin ban. Server rules should be beefed up so admins cannot abuse players and essentially make a server private. As for the loss of gear and server deaths- the game is in alpha so I can wait for those, but admins that are jerks should be punished. I suggest tar and or feathers.

Survivor and Bandit Compounds with vendors
Spekter replied to Spekter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes, but I find it hard to believe that zombies have taken over and there are no pockets of survivors banding together for mutual survival. Just seems like a logical progression to me if we are going on the premise that apocalypse has occurred. -
I was stoned during the last zombie apocalypse and I lived.

we only need 2 things in the next update/patch

or just start posting IPs of hackers - the problem will fix itself -
I was thinking that it would be cool for there to be survivor, and bandit too, compounds. Maybe 1 or 2 of each that are fortified with NPCs manning them. Say a camp where people could find help or directions. Of course they could be raided, but not easily. The camps could have medical people and vendors where you could barter weapons and what not for help and supplies. But on a very, very limited level. For instance, you could not go to the camp every time you needed food or ammo because they would not have very much or maybe you could only barter at the camp every 5 days. Put it on a cool down timer. Or perhaps the camps would only have items to barter once other players had bartered items. There would need to be a method the guards used to determine who was a bandit and who was not, but I have not put that much thought into it. As part of the game you could decide to become part of the compound and make supply runs into towns and such to get supplies for the camp/colony or just move through on your way to where ever you may be going. Edit* maybe separating bandits and survivors is a bad idea. Welcome everyone to the camps, but give the guards a "don't start any crap or we shoot" attitude. Still allow the camps to be raided though.

Great idea, but what about say 15 or 20 in the horde and give them a chance to have rare loot on the bodies if you manage to kill them. Not like a heli crash but maybe they could spawn 2 or 3 hordes every 3 ish hours or at server restart at random places always out of towns. Then let then have a chance to drop NV goggles or some other rare item. NOT drop every time either. Make people work for their gear. Oh and make the horde all military zeds with flak jackets so they are hard to kill.

depending heavily on terrain. can't hear much of anything through a mountain. I live about 3 miles from my gun club's range and some of those guys have big guns. One guy has a small cannon, no really, that he hauls around in his truck. I rarely ever hear any gunfire and it's pretty flat around here. a lot of things break up sound waves that originate at ground level. The direction of the shot coupled with the terrain makes a huge difference on how far the shot can be heard. Also, a 50 cal round will hit you at 1000 meters and you will never hear the report. The guy next to you might 6 or 7 seconds later.

you sir are an artist! Seriously, better determination of where the damn bullets come from would be nice. I thought I was surrounded last night and it was just one guy.

Suppressors IRL do not require special ammo. However, there are certain ammo manufactures that make ammo that is better suited for those kinds of uses. The problem with making it more realistic, in my humble opinion, if that no matter what you do in real life- a suppressor will eventually stop working and simply become a barrel extension with no rifling. So in game suppressors would have to have so many uses then stop working. That would be the fair way to do it if you removed SD ammo. Otherwise, everybody and their cousin would be silent and next to impossible to hunt down. Making Cherno and Elektro caged deathmatch arenas.

No no, a reason to kill zeds is good. Make then drop something besides beans and empty cans!
