Week 3 Ivan and Martin arrested. Show them you care
Lepris replied to Mysticales's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Man you know, it's like Greece doesn't want their economy to ever recover. You'd think the last thing they'd want to be doing at this time is scaring away the tourists. -
I just finished watching game of thrones season 1. Adding children to dayz,....... I feel anything can go these days. During a zombie apocalypse, if a child is infected and coming at you, you know you'd shoot it without hesitation.

Ahh but that's the beauty of it. The game probably can't fail. Sure if it's bug ridden, it'll put some people off at first. But eventually when all the bugs are worked out, it'll be an excellent game. My point is, I'm hoping dayz start out as a good game with some minor inconvenient bugs rather than a giant Real Virtuality 4 engine beta test that's crippled and no fun to play. I mean, there's no stopping the devs from releasing the game full of bugs and relying on players to beta test for them. I'm just saying I hope they choose to fix the more criptacular ones first.

Well you only got part of that right. The stand alone I'm sure will be good eventually so I'm not worried about that at all. What I'm worried about is if they are going to release dayz standalone as a game, or as an arma 3 engine test. I'm sure to an extent it will be both, but I'm really really hoping it will be more a game. And you are correct, if the game is unplayable it will be a failure, and I'm sure nobody wants that. I actually have arma 2 in my steam shopping cart but I think I'm going to just wait for the standalone as all these reports of false bans has me a little concerned. With the minecraft model, why not right?

Will This Run DayZ Without much Lag?
Lepris replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Are you kidding? That setup will run dayz mod easily. Now dayz standalone.... not sure. But your system is like 2 steps down from the top tier gaming system so you're probably fine. -
I have no problem with less buggy and more secure. But that's my point. It should at least be relatively bug free to a certain extent and secure to a certain level upon public alpha. Like if the engine with dayz is released completely playable with the occasional bug and occasional exploit, both of which can be reported by players and quickly corrected, that would be great. If however it's released completely bug ridden, broken, easily exploitable, and there are so many bugs reported that it overwhelms the devs to the point that a fix patch takes weeks or months to come out, well that would just seem kinda shady. Free public testing is a fine practice, but not if the game is completely broken from day one right? This situation sort of happened with X3 Albion Prelude. Game crippling bug was discovered a few days after it was released and it pretty much rendered the game unplayable after a certain amount of time played. A proper fix patch wasn't provided for several weeks, and it was a bug that should have been caught prior to release.

Sounds like he's playing it realistically. Training for 12/12/12 is a viable goal. I know the first thing a true survivalist will do if the world goes to @#$@ is to head for a secluded corner of the woods with supplies and survival skills and wait it out.

At the least, some kind of player activity log system should probably be implemented so there's at least a way to look back at a player's activity and prove without a doubt if a player is cheating or was banned by mistake. I haven't been banned from any online game yet. I'll probably buy the game regardless, but it would be reassuring to know that if I was somehow banned by mistake, I could simply ask an admin to look back at my activity logs to prove the ban was in error.

Day of a n00b, You might find this funny ;-)
Lepris replied to willcyd's topic in New Player Discussion
Heh the sniper shot you because you were following him. You were giving away his position with your non ghilli'd up tailing him like a lost puppy. Veterans in the game with the high end loot are constantly freaked out about counter snipers. Meaning if you don't know how to be a spotter to him and are not equipped to be of help to him, you're a liability. So he shot you so you wouldn't give away his position. I didn't realize snipers were so paranoid until I watched this guy's videos on youtube and you start to realize how you stand to lose everything from some sniper lying in wait unless you nail him first. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Lepris replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Add in a method of removing it easier... like bangalors :P Or remove it from the game and replace it with mines and claymores.... dunno. Actually scratch that, now that I think about it mines and claymores would turn it into a troll fest. -
Sounds good. I just hope the Arma 2.5/3 engine will be bug free enough not to degrade the experience. I'd hate to think this standalone was just a way to use the popularity of DayZ to draw in a massive ton of players paying to beta test an engine. More fun, less bugs!
