A new sniper rifle and a new LRS

It's just an example, there are so many different stocks out there, you wouldn't think someone in a country where you can obtain them would have them? As you state in a previous thread, you believe that a lot of the older firearms are hand me downs. Well, if you know anything about hunters, not everyone holds onto hand me downs, it's not all that uncommon to see people go out and buy cheap firearms and modify them or change them because they are cheap and replaceable. Russia allows legal ownership of firearms, that means they are allowed to modify the firearm for sporting or hunting purposes. Just like americans import firearms, mods for firearms, and parts for firearms, the Russians can do the same. it doesn't matter the stock, any can be purchased. That being said, do you think SV-98's, M110's, M-24's, M40A5's, SVD's, M-14's, or pretty much any other firearms would be as easy to find? Civilians and Both Military can own them, the difference is, civilians can only own semi automatic weapons (which all that were listed were, and all are considered precision bolt action or DMR's) but the civilians are limited to 10 round magazines by law (which isn't a big issue since many of them only hold 5-10 rounds). Modifying isn't just an American concept, apparently many people believe that every Russian is an 80 year old guy who doesn't even change or modify their firearms. On another note, they should consider adding Vepr's as a DMR type rifle since it can also be chambered in .308, 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, and a few others. Could be the equivalent of an PSL or SVD.

I did say that could be very rare, a drop for 1/1000 kinda deal. Also, Russia has shooting ranges that stores a lot of civilian firearms, by law, so that could be added also as a high drop rate zone. Not for the stocks, but for civilian firearms.

Well actually, yes that could happen, as for as many attachments as you want, literally if you have the parts, you can go full mall ninja. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQpfQd1397E If you don't want to watch a video, here's an image of it..... http://images-kitup.military.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Mall_Ninja_Rifle.jpg

If people can buy them for hunting, then they can be found. You can in-fact buy these even in European countries, you just need a special permit or the right license. They are cheap ,and can be easily ordered. If you have a sporting rifle permit in Germany, you can do what ever you want to the rifle as long as you let the proper authorities know you are changing the cosmetics of a firearm. I do know about Russians being able to own firearms and what they can and cannot own, they can order parts and upgrades for firearms there if they have the right permits. They cannot conceal carry or own fully automatic weapons though. Just like Americans buy weapons from over seas, so do the Russians and many other countries. http://www.loc.gov/law/help/firearms-control/russia.php Here's a link to help you understand how their laws work. Sorry for the late edit, but I should also say that not everyone follows the law, and when you have your fingers in the black market, you can find some pretty interesting weapons.
  5. M110 is just a military version of the AR-10, which is as common as the AR-15, M110 is more of a DMR but yes, it wouldn't be too hard to find Civilian versions of that rifle. the Civilian side costs around 800 dollars, the military is 2k+ depending on the company that makes it contract wise. Having both would be nice, but if you find the civilian version it should be able to be found in any state, I.E. without a quad rail system or something along those lines.

Remember those are just two examples for two different rifles, those same rifles you can find hundreds of stocks and attachments that can be placed on them with little to no smithing knowledge. I still have the question of why the 7.62x54R is called 7.62x51(or .308) in the game, maybe it was a typo, or maybe for the sake of the alpha they are making easier so the ammo can be used in different rifles when the ammo comes along, because if you inspect the ammo, it's rimmed like it's supposed to be and 7.62x54R is the only rimmed cartridge that's still in use today by militaries all over the world.

A new sniper rifle and a new LRS

Uh, all you need is a drop in stock for a mosin to make it more "modern" there are literally so many stocks for older rifles like the Mosin Nagant, SKS, AK (any variant), AR-15/M-16 Series. All they do is have to add a new stock to the game that you can pick up and exchange with your current Mosin. This would be easier for them while they are developing the game....they're common and cheap since the rifles them selves are cheap. Finding high end rifles would be more rare and especially match grade ammo that would make them better for long distance, since around the world, even if the country allows firearms, it costs money to buy high end shooting rifles. Also, they should add different ammo types that could help with this, 203 grain round is heavier and can travel further and more accurately than a lower grain light round, the surplus Mosin ammo that's available is cheap, but it's 147 grain and corrosive. The 203 grain steel case ammo that's also surplus is a little bit more accurate and gets the job done well and fairs better over long distance engagements and isn't corrosive might be better for precision shooting at distance. Adding additional thoughts, having super rare rifles is always cool, and when you find them you feel like a badass, but when you add a million m107A1's into a game and everyone has one, it get kinda boring, variety is always nice and make rare, well...rare. Remington 700's are very common place, so are military surplus rifles from previous era's. I would like to see a wide array of firearms that all fill certain rolls, you wouldn't use an AKM for a 600+ meter engagement so it would be nice to see more rifles out there, older as well as new. Finding simple upgrades and stocks for rifles can solve many problems if they added them, but I fear the game will end up being like the mod in the same way that for the longest time, I encountered a lot of people with .50cals with crap loads of ammo and thermal sights for them. I'm hoping that the variety will be implemented long before the issue rears it's head, if 1 out of every 50 people had a rare rifle, I'm fine with that, it would be more common to see people with Mosin's, Remingtons, Savage 10's or even 11's. Stuff that's common for hunting and sporting. If everyone had a .338 then what would be the fun? The same goes for battle/select fire rifles, a lot of rifles use the same calibers, but they are better in different situations. If they wanted too, they could add the SVD and the PSL to take on DMR roles. To make it easier to engage at a distance or medium to even short ranges.

I was hoping the developers could take into account the different modifications that are out there for weapons, especially older ones and popular firearms alike. Take for instance the Mosin Nagant chambered in 7.62x54R (since the game was released it for some reason was chambered in 7.62x51(.308) Don't know why but the developers have their reasons. There are so many companies that make different stocks for them and drop in add-ons that require little to no knowledge of the firearm it's self for instance, here's a photo of one of many possible drop in stocks. Looking at another, the SKS. It's also a popular military surplus rifle that has many different type of drop in stocks and attachments that would be kind of cool to see in game, even if they were like a 1/1000 chance of being found, there are drop in stocks that have magazines that work for them, which would also be kind of cool to see. If you end up adding the Remington 700, or an M14(M1A) into the game, there are so many different ways you can modify them that make them a bit handier or even if it's just for the looks. I know the game is still alpha, but to see things like that implemented would be awesome. Even if it wasn't done til the final release of the game I would still like to see something like this, it would make firearms feel more like "my rifle" instead of something else everyone had, even if it was one different stock per certain types of rifles or pistols. Just like clothing it adds a nice touch to the game, that makes it feel more like your person is unique to your self. Instead of the everyone wears the same thing and uses the same firearms.

    Suspicious log

So I had a suspected hacker who was shooting people when he wasn't near them, so I banned him, he didn't show up in the script texts, but I am away of battleeye bypassers blah blah, but he kept joining after each ban? How is that possible, he was changing his IP address each time too: 1:00:36 BattlEye Server: Player #1 Kilroy (71.252.161.209:2304) connected 1:18:02 BattlEye Server: Player #1 Kilroy (24.7.97.141:2325) connected 1:21:20 BattlEye Server: Player #1 Kilroy (61.214.101.59:2304) connected How the fuck is that possible? I'm aware of people changing the games serial # with a generator...but how can you change your IP address???? Is there something else out there, is he tricking my logs?

    Suspicious Createvehicle.log?

Ahhh, thank you. Was wondering why they had so many....I guess it's too easy to find satchel charges thanks to hackers now adays anyways.
  11. So, I've noticed in my recent createvehicle.log something out of the ordinary....I can't tell if it's legit or if it seems like spawned items were used? or maybe they set the items down and picked them back up. I'm guessing he dropped satchel charges for his friend but had 4 magically left to go? 20.09.2012 11:03:29: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 25:70 25:9 [10442,2343,10] [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:03:47: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 25:102 25:9 [10447,2346,6] [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:07:17: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:2304) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 20:48 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:07:27: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:2304) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 20:55 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:11:45: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 28:225 28:9 [10482,2359,11] [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:12:03: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 28:226 28:9 [10481,2361,11] [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:13:31: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 28:231 28:9 [10485,2357,8] [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 11:14:12: FaTe x Pro (77.96.124.8:2304) 090eabe69b21dfa1bf8351403369af45 - #0 "PipeBomb" 28:235 28:9 [10427,2365,6] [0,0,0] His friend has the same thing but a bunch of backpack logs. 20.09.2012 14:14:31: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:6 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 14:17:46: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:116 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 14:17:55: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:122 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 14:18:41: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:146 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 14:20:37: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:211 [0,0,0] 20.09.2012 14:22:17: FaTe x Zalblarg (94.247.52.34:10417) 677589f15d4f257d2c4fbb5fcd0046ae - #0 "DZ_Backpack_EP1" 21:306 [0,0,0] I'm thinking he just picked a crap load of random stuff up like ammo and what not, but I'm not too sure....any help on the matter would be much appreciated, I can't find anything else way out of the ordinary.
  12. Nobody has anything? Damn it.....Was hoping for help.
  13. To start off, I'm a complete noob at this. I'm running Server US 1388 through host altitude. Today is the first day my server has been up, and i've been trying to work all the kinks out, but I've run into a problem...a big one that I definitly need to know how to fix. So the server has been up all day, have had relatively no issues, until around 1600-1630 Centeral US time. We had a hacker join and he started ruining peoples day. He was doing some pretty bad hacking too, teleporting around, god mode, shooting everyone. Stealing all the vehicles on the server and teleporting them to unkown locations and saving them there. Well after I tried to open the server log to see who it was...I had no idea what I was looking at. Some of the examples from other posts on how to identify something sucpicious didn't help with what i'm seeing, these are my logs currently: if (!isDedicated) then { _config = configFile >> "CfgLoot"; _config1 = conf" 16.09.2012 17:00:32: Len4ik (87.117.190.69:2304) 2e812e278a45f11800412b487f9e1d9e - #131 "#line 1 "z\addons\dayz_code\init\compiles.sqf" Sometimes it will give a name, but I have no idea what they are doing, so I tried the createvehicle log and this is what I got: 16.09.2012 17:00:54: oBud 9e7776b1617b9d4fe8d0ecf90657bbbd - #0 "Sniper1_DZ" 119:4 [0,0,0] Which it's like that for all players, nothing sucpicious from there....so I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong or if there is something I need to view more than what it is showing, because my logs show who ever the play was and it's between two players on the server but I wont start a witch hunt, and have someone who was innocent of crimes that someone else commited, burned at a stake. How do I view the files corretly so I can take the nessesary actions next time to stop a hacker. On a side note, how do I force respawn all the vehicles through my server controls since you can save vehicles to certain locations and said asshole decided to make them all go far, far away???? I am very new to this and I apologise for being a noob, but you have to start somewhere, and with no answers I am asking other server admins if they can help at all. If you need any other information from me just ask and I'll see what I can do. Also forgive my spelling, this is a very hasty post from a person who has really no idea what he is doing.

    Found a rifle

Then I wont get rid of it, I only use it at night anyways. I've had decent luck with this game and have found alot of decent rifles, this one just seemed....alittle too good to be true, so I looked it up and asked, but I'll try it for a bit, if I start getting banned from servers I like, then it goes away. I only used it on one player so far, and he shot my friend so it was self/group defense.

    Found a rifle

Well I found it from the Cookie clan server, they have a tent city with insane amounts of gear and weapons that take days to find, so I assume they have hackers in their group, it was on DE 1698 in a tent city they made. Was originally attempting to find crash sites in hopes of an SVD, but I found that instead...so I'll lose it.
