You summed up my feelings perfectly... I feel like if the modding community could use some of the changes the devs have made (like the improved map, buildings, inventory etc. etc.) in their own mods we'd have an awesome game by now that's much better than SA Dayz.

I have to say I'm not liking the newest patch and the new loot system at all :( But I THINK I'm in the minority here so I don't expect it to change, I dunno maybe I'll get used to it, but it just seems like more running and less action. Yesterday I spawned in and ran for what seemed like forever without finding a weapon or food to the point that I starved to death. It was the most boring life Ive ever had on DayZ. And yes I went in land too, started at Cherno and ran north to the little towns up there (Moggy, Nadz, Vyshnoy etc).

To make a fire (and yes you can make them in rain) get an axe and go up to a tree and collect wood, then take some rags and combine with wood to make a fire place then put matches in your hand and then right click on the fire place and ignite with matches. You can also use books and flares will work instead of matches.

Go into nVidia control panel and turn the options down to performance rather than quality. That should give you more FPS if your settings are at high.

Does persistence harm performance a lot? I notice a lot of servers have it turned off.

I remember hearing something about a new renderer that will improve performance, has that been added yet?

You can get rid of the blur in the options too i believe. The blurring is way worse than the greying IMO.

Yep this is a massive problem in game I see people wall glitching all the time. Its such an old exploit too, most games got rid of it years ago.

Have you tried different DayZ servers? I remember I used to sometimes go on servers that would drop my FPS way down like that. If you're getting 60FPS in ArmA II then it would seem that there is nothing wrong with your setup hardware wise.

£6 just for a better texture on one (am I right in thinking that to have the high texture ghillie suite you need the British DLC?) outfit? I would definitely say no.

Also go into your graphics card settings in Windows (nVidia Control Panel) and change it to performance rather than quality. This makes a big difference.

DayZ maximum is 1600. Anything over that makes 0 difference whatsoever

Big tip: Go into options and set "Talk over Direct" to Space Bar. This way if you run into someone quickly you can easily just press space to say "friendly" or whatever, even if you are currently in Side Chat chatting (typing ofc, dont speak on Side Chat) away when you press space it will instantly switch to Direct Chat while you hold space then once you release it will automatically go back to side. This way you dont have to keep switching channels, which if you quickly bump into someone isnt easy to do and is why people often talk over Side Chat when they shouldnt.

There is, its called ArmA 2. You have this thing called Bootcamp that teaches you the game and how to play it. There is also a controls menu that you can go into to set which button you want to use to speak over Direct chat. It seems you jumped in the deep end even though you dont know how to swim yet. That's always a mistake.

Hmmm not sure if this is the graphics bug or not. If it is the graphics bug, Shift - (on numpad) flush didn't work for me either, but I found a method that worked 100% of the time for me, maybe it will work for you, worth a try i guess. So, firstly do the Shift - (on numpad) flush, screen should go black as it flushes. Once that is done press Escape, Alt, Enter (like you would do ctrl alt delete) your game should now go into windowed mode (this bit can be a bit fiddly and sometimes you have to do it a few times for it to work), the escape menu will also come up, click continue. Now your game should be in a small window, again press Escape Alt Enter, this will make your game go back to fullscreen and again the escape menu will come up, click continue. And thats it, for me this fixed the graphics bug 100% of the time, whereas just shift - flush did not work all of the time. Like I said, not sure if what you're experiencing is the same as me, but give that a try anyways.

Aye, but be warned that some private hives still show up even when you filter them out, they don't have the cloud next to them but they are private.
