It's mainly for the sickness/disease spreading and stuff I think. There is going to be a lot of virus's/diseases in the SA (Rockets bro is a doctor or something so he gets a lot of realistic info and ideas about it from him). And not getting the game due to that is only spiting yourself really, it could be a really great mechanic and add an extra layer of fear to the game. Biological warfare! And think about killing people then taking a shit on them, you know you want to! :D

Is this on Commander? Im having a few problems with it lately. Not that exact problem, but it keeps crashing when I try to join a server. Try Play with Six if you havent already, it wont fix that problem, but at least you might be able to get it to work and play :) Those maps are all on Play with Six. Or ofc. you can install them manually.

No. You need OA. He just means he has the ArmA 2 Free + OA. And this is the reason for poor performance this guy already said: Get a proper graphics card if you can that will give you better performance that you are looking for :) EDIT: Scratch that, just realised it was a laptop. Get a desktop! :D That's your best option, theres nothing much you can do with that laptop to improve performance :(

You have Steam version? AFTER you try that above ^^ (Do try) and if it still doesnt work, maybe try Validating your install through Steam. Right click on your game in Steam Library and go to properties, then go to Local Files tab and click Verify Integrity of Game Cache, not sure if that will work, but worth i go I suppose if you're running out of options.

Lay off him guys <.< He might just be a kid (judging from the 99, my guess is he's a 13yr old) :D Like others have said, what you're asking for is the default set up in the game, so yeah you will understand soon as you play, couldnt be more intuitive to shoot really. And yeah, play ArmA 2 the mechanics are the exact same as DayZ so you can still learn to play DayZ on ArmA 2 really, that way when you do get DayZ you wont be a complete noob :)

Every post in this thread is telling you that you need ArmA 2 AND Operation Arrowhead, there is no "seemingly" :P

You dont need to do any of that. Just get DayZ Commander and click Install on those two items. Two clicks is all you need to do and it will install everything in the correct place for you. TBH Ive no idea what those errors mean :(

There is already this addon for ArmA 2 so it wouldnt be hard to add if someone wanted to. I forget the name of the addon, but its Jukebox something.

I was under the impression you need the PMC addon for the high res ghillie suite and the player clothing, regardless of how good your machine is? Otherwise you get the low res version. Is that not the case? It used to be as Ive seen people on youtube with the low res clothing on DayZ.

ACOG?! Dammit! How dare they not use the SUSAT?! I must be having words. The L85 is the only gun I've ever fired IRL and it had a god damn SUSAT so i want it in the game! It's that "authentic"ness that people love to talk about around here. The L85 is mainly used with SUSAT IRL, so put it in game!

haha great thread idea! Though I wish you made it earlier on :D I had low blood, but shit loads of ammo so camped in a building a just shot zombies with the enfield, they just kept respawning then aggroing on me as they heard the dinner bell. Every now and then I would loot the food off the corpses (they sometimes have a can of beans on them etc.) and I ended up regaining all my blood back to green (it was flashing red) :D No idea how many I killed, but the thing is they started to disappear after a while :( So im thinking there is only so many bodies you can have on the ground before they start to disappear.

I can't imagine it would be any of the admins from that server, surely? It would be soo dumb for them to do that and make themselves look this stupid.

Could someone explain what exactly is happening there? What server is that? Who's doing that? I dont get exactly whats going on. Is that the doorman server and someone has hacked it to add that advert telling people to go to Laughingman?

Am I the only one who hates the weather effects? Everyday we have rain, fog, sun, clouds, thunder, it just cycles through them, rinse and repeat style. I'd rather it was just clear all the time personally. The fog is a joke too, its not the proper fog that's in ArmA 2 that actually looks like fog, instead its just the exact same effect as going into options and turning view distance down to 500. If you like fog, turn your view distance down :D I say again I hate the weather effects, not realistic really, when it rains nothing gets wet! I still hear grass crunching like it's bone dry anyways. Though it would be cool if like the trees turned green in the summer or whatever, there is an addon for arma 2 you can get that does this. Makes Chernarus look like summer instead of the permanant autumn it is now. And in winter it would look cool all white covered in snow. But we dont need weather! Join me in my anti-weather campaign! We'll make one of those internet petition things and get on our high horses and shit! Come join me!....No?...Ok then :(

You can throw the flares/lights by pressing F until you see that you have selected one in the top right of the screen and then left click to throw. And the Stand Alone will be quite cheap, $5-$15 I think. And yeah I have noticed that frame rate sometimes drops a little with different view, but only on some servers for some strange reason.

Have you tried DayZ Commander? Tis better IMO: http://www.dayzcommander.com/ If that fails try installing it manually.

Whenever I find a Mountain Dew I drink it immediately. If I find more than one I drink them all, even when my icon is green as next doors grass on the other side.

Yeah 6 will be available if you make sure to get 64bit :) 32bit can only do maximum of 4gb (well its 3.something, but near enough 4)

The whole inventory system, not just backpacks, is terrible. Rocket has acknowledged this, so I'm thinking it will be radically different in the SA. Hopefully anyways :D

Yeah if you ever been in the COUNTRYSIDE is pitched black at night. Not in your city/town or suburbs or whatever where there is loads of artificial light. When there is no moon its totally dark like DayZ and when the moon if full you get a nice little light, again like DayZ. I think they nailed it tbh, I really love the dark, I just dont like the fact that Im at such a massive disadvantage against NVGs :( This kinda ruins it a bit for me. But I've had some of the most atmospheric fun playing at night with just flares, chemlights and a flashlight :D
